I am a resident of southeast Louisiana, a small town north of N.O. – a town that the eye of the hurrican passed through. I went through days with no water, 16 days with no electricity… suffered 1st degree sunburns standing in lines for ice, sitting in lines for gas… waiting with my children in lines for a hot meal. I’ve stayed up many nights – jumping up at any noise that I heard – thanks to someone who broke into my home and took away my children’s feelings of security. When you spend weeks with no contact other than the people near you physically, you find yourself doing an awful lot of thinking. The few times I was able to get cell phone service, I was able to keep in touch with a few people from game. I owe a huge amount of thanks to Boo, Kasie and Nudie for letting me call at any point that I could. Ya’ll listened when I really needed it most. I’ve always believed myself to be a strong woman, but the things I’ve gone through lately proved just how quickly I could crumble… the 3 of you let me cry, you let me vent, you offered me anything you possibly could offer … and I will never be able to thank you enough for that.

To EVERYONE who helped in ANY way with the benefit in SL, I know that I speak for everyone in Louisiana & Mississippi when I say that words can not express how much appreciation is felt for all of you. For anyone who has helped outside of game, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. There is still alot to be done down here.. towns are still destroyed.. so many people without homes now, and so many children torn from their families. All I ask is that instead of pointing fingers, instead of throwing words around toward one another (and yes, God knows I’ve done my share in the past)… during this time, please just sit back and be thankful for what you have instead of causing bs. As corny as it sounds… go home tonight, hold your children for a little while…. adhere to the saying “never be afraid to tell someone you love them, you never know if it will be your last chance”. I’ve seen just how fast an entire life’s worth of work and love can be taken from you – don’t be stupid and take it all for granted.

To Cowboy… a man that has been my rock for so many months now… you’ve truly held me through all of this without even knowing it. Your words have picked me up and kept me going even when I felt like there was nothing left. Thank you for being you and for carrying me on the wings of an angel.

Again, thank you all for your kindness, your prayers, your thoughts, and for all you’ve done to help each and every one of us devistated by Hurricane Katrina. Without the help from so many, we would still be in the dark here – in so very many ways. To all the military personnel, the electric workers, the tree climbers, the police, the volunteers … you have all been our lifeline and without you the restoration process would not be happening so quickly – thank you!
