		<description>&quot;Utter hostages to the most narrow construction of any concept.&quot;

Just what I&#039;ve been trying to say, worded so well!

This is why SL will go to hell in a handbasket.

Currently it is going to hell in the handbasket belonging to Lazarus Divine and alts.

		<description>&quot;It’s that attitude that will cost them a significant player base when some other company figures out that a sturdier TOS and a more common-sense approach to upholding it is required for business to thrive.&quot;

Prok really understands a huge problem in Second Life that has crippled the game for many users. This specific problem is the only reason I am no longer a resident. I felt so strongly about this issue that i dumped a promising design career in world, my officer status in New Citizens Inc and most sadly numerous friendships id nutured over time.

&quot;They are unable to rise above their own literal-minded liberalism to realize they are creating an illiberal climate. This is often the flaw of liberalism that liberals are afraid to face – when their actions create illiberalism for others by allowing in illiberals, be they terrorists and extremists in real life, or griefers in virtual life.&quot;

Agreed and I completely support this view. However, It makes me very uncomfortable to have griefing in a game compared to terrorism in real life. I understand the connection being made. But I feel its a false connection. Living on the shore in Seattle, U.S.A Ive never experienced my freedoms taken away by terrorists. I cant even say I know of a person Ive met in the real world whose affected. The U.S. government has taken away many of the rights i once enjoyed, but these evil terrorists never materialized. In contrast, I was subject to relentless personal attack in Second Life by griefers. Ive known many individuals directly affected by griefing in that game. We&#039;ve watched in disbelief and LL turned their backs on us, leaving us to fend for ourselves. And, in certain cases, punished victims of attacks along with the griefers, in an attempt to appear impartial.

		<description>It&#039;s one thing to have &quot;art&quot; on your land that is some kind of tasteless &quot;happening&quot; or &quot;conceptual installation&quot; -- I suppose that&#039;s legitimate, regardless of its shock value. But when it comes after you in the game, it&#039;s another thing. When the artist dons as an avatar a burning building, dive-bombs your events, and bumps you with his &quot;World Trade Center,&quot; then it crosses the line from art to griefing.

Of course, the Lindens only react to the bumping part and are colour-blind to the rest, and proud of it. They want the climate for creativity to be maximized for their product development and pet junior game devs, and householding and civilization be damned. It&#039;s that attitude that will cost them a significant player base when some other company figures out that a sturdier TOS and a more common-sense approach to upholding it is required for business to thrive.

The Lindens time and again make clutched-up-liberal interpretations of their TOS that shows they are utter hostages to the most narrow construction of any concept. They are unable to rise above their own literal-minded liberalism to realize they are creating an illiberal climate. This is often the flaw of liberalism that liberals are afraid to face -- when their actions create illiberalism for others by allowing in illiberals, be they terrorists and extremists in real life, or griefers in virtual life.

Example: 2 Lindens will instantly show up to defend the TOS for some assmunch who has snagged 144m2 and is mounting an ugly spinning sign on it and flaunting the IMPEACH BUSH texture. They will defend to the death (your death) his right to bring 2 sims tiered by adults to their knees. The will insist that you not block his ugly build with trees or walls on all four sides, invoking TOS strictures about not blocking someone on their property. They profess to be really torn apart by this as the ruefully tell you that they must uphold the right of property owners to do WTF they want on their land. Regardless if the owner is land-scanning and buying a released 144 m2 and putting up signs ruining the view for the people who own the hundreds of thousands of surrounding meters.

		<description>&lt;i&gt;The last point is unacceptable. LL may be surprised to find that outside the US that makes _them_ look bad, not the w-hats. Nationalist button pushing doesn’t work outisde the country of origin.&lt;/i&gt;

Regardless of what one&#039;s political views are, I would think people could agree that a build parodying a horiffic event that killed more than a thousand people of multiple nationalities is in rather bad taste.
