Hey Heraldinians,

Am I a groupie if I get paid for it? Wait, that’s a whore, never mind Anyhoo that’s me sitting with Paul at the after-broadcast inworld chat. Nice pic btw!

Gonta – it took us about two weeks on this project from start to finish to put the inworld segment together. The final editing and sync with the voices was done by the BBC, so I’m not sure how long that took.

There’s a copy of the inworld section only available for download at http://www.tinyseadog.com/newsnightstudioonly.mpg, thanks to Ice Brody for the hookup.

Finally Oskar – I’ve been told that the BBC is very interested in doing further inworld broadcasts, covering both RL and SL stories. This could be the start of something big, fingers crossed!

Uri, some of us are kind of scratching our heads over this $100,000 US figure. Actually, many days it will say $149,000 or more at day’s end midnight Pacific Time. I see it start some mornings and jump an astounding $2700 US with less than 1000 avatars logged on. We saw this figure jump from the usual $40,000-$50,000 a day before p2p, to the $150,000 US it is today…but with Lawrence Linden making some sort of vague statements along the way that numbers had to be “updated”.

Only 4000-5000 are logged on at any given time. How do figures like this generate $150,000. Well, casinos and such and texture uploads and stipends all come in there too. So some of this is the funny money that the Lindens manufacture — how much? Hard to know. Some people who have quizzed Lawrence found him to stand by the figures and say that each avatar spends something like $1500 in a typical 3-hour session. I never seem to spend any money, or spend something like $150 on a shirt or $10 while camping so I’m not a good judge. The figure seems inflated.
