I am a Spaniard. I will try to resume the politic situation in Spain for those interested in understanding the problem. This could be a hit in SL, considering global media are scouting SL and reporting to the masses relevant things there happen.

Spain is a 45 million people country with a democratic constitutional monarchy (King actually does nothing). There are elections every 4 years. The traditional political parties are:
- 40-50%: Conservative Party (PP)
- 40-50%: Socialist Party (PSOE + IU)
- 8-10%: Local Nationalist Parties (mostly in Catalonia and Basque Country. They mostly claim for Independence. They are strong in their areas.
- 1-2%: a bunch of freak parties (+50). They don’t get any representation in the Government: the Cannabis Party, the Ecologist Party, the Pirate Party, some nostalgic Nazi style parties…

Due the equilibrium of votes the Conservative Party and the Socialist Party have been switching dominance during last 20 years.

During the Iraq conflict Spain was allied with USA because the regnant Conservative Party decided. Spain sent troops to the coalition that invaded Iraq.
11M of 2004, 3 days before the elections, Muslims bombed train station in Madrid, killing 200 Innocent. This caused some effects:
- Many votes turned against Conservative Party, and they lost elections. At that moment all the predictions were giving them a win again.
- Conservative Party was accused to hide data to the media, trying to show that the killers was the independent Basque terrorist group, not the Muslims.
- Situation was really tense for a few days. Hate was increasing and politics of both sides were moving to people to a close to a civil-war state. Observe Spain suffered a terrible civil war not too long (1936-1939). Distribution of forces and basic ideologies were not too different from what they are these days.

After the killing, and when the Socialist Party took the power they decided to remove troops from Iraq to calm down the masses.
During last 3 years hate and tension among the two blocks has been rising and that has been projected on the people, Both parties control giant mass media groups and they have been using them to make propaganda to help their interests. So if some Spanish people in SL has decided to translate actual problems in Spain to the virtual world, imagine what could be next.

Will we see a “real virtual war” in SL?
