My children aren't home right now. One is in college, engaged, and in her own apartment, and the other, who is 17, is visiting her friend.

(And when they are home, I don't just stand around at the ready like a sentry for the moment they might need me. They're perfectly capable of coming to me at the computer if I'm there, playing or working, or if I'm cooking - you name it.)

But since we're chatting about children, how many do you have?

I think Prokofy wants the last word, Jennyfur.

I wonder how many threads on SLH she's obsessively chased the last word. Sounds like an opportunity to me.

"I think I can now award myself a Pulitzer for investigative reporting, in fact, but it was just too easy."

Ahahahahahahahahahahaha Damn, Quixote, you really are out there! But, i'm sure the nice men in white coats at the asylum do tell you that giving yourself a gold star for doing something you feel is good to help your self-esteem, but that's going a bit far. You do know, that the Pulitzer is for _journalists_ only right? Not psychotic ranting op-ed blog writers, otherwise you'd be in close competition with all those other nuts at the street corners. I wonder who WOULD win in that sort of Bizarro-Pulitzer award, the crazy hobo with his "the aliens are eating our brains!" rant, the psycho street minister with "Jesus hates gays!" rant, or Prokofy Neva with "THE FIC ARE OUT TO GET ME!!!!!11" rant.

Thanks for a good laugh though

Artemis, Coco is - Coco. I'm not defined by my relationship to someone who happens to be a friend of mine in online games, any more than I am defined by my relationship to you.

If you can't stand it when people agree with others you don't like, I suggest you learn to suck it up like an actual grown-up, instead of indulging in shallow and childish thinking.

>Link to one conference with rules. K.
http://www.dragoncon.org/policies.php

Silly MMORPEGs, anybody?

>But wait, thats just a bunch of dorks. Okiedokie, how about the National Organization for Women?

*Bursts out laughing* You seem to think that my article is advocating "having no rules*. But sure, there can be rules -- if people are part of making them from the get-go. And look at the NOW rules *closedly*. There isn't anything like THOSE idiotic rules that the sullent Jenny-fur, her fatuous frat-boy hubbie Flip, and their gal pal Jeska Linden made.

Example, here's what they say about press: ""Press" shall be defined as persons who may report on the Conference to the public through any media other than NOW publications or platforms."

They don't say "You can't tape the sessions". They say you CAN report.

Furthermore, they have elaborate procedures and invoke Roberts Rules of Order -- great! -- but they have no time limit on interventions and motions from the floor. Indeed, if anybody wanted to make rules like that, you can see from this old, organized, efficient group that they have a PROCESS and it is a DEMOCRATIC ONE for making rules.

I don't see anything vague like "no harassment".

So invoke rules all you like -- the issue isn't rules. It's process, how they get made, and the outcome. And the NOW rules are NOTHING LIKE Jenny-fur's Fatwahs.

And...How about *this*?
http://www.yearlykosconvention.org/register

What could get more democratic than these radicals of the Democratic Party? Yet...I see nothing resembling Jennyfurian Fatwahs there.

No, very lame attempt -- and more illustrative of my point than I could have ever wished!

>How about the 2002 proposed conference rules for the American Dental Assistants conference.

Comedy Gold!

>You may now take away the word "Journalist" when talking about yourself. I found all of these by simply typing "Conference Rules" into that google thing that tells you where nifty stuff is. Investigatamive reporting is hard.

I think I can now award myself a Pulitzer for investigative reporting, in fact, but it was just too easy.

Kids today! Don't they teach civics in the schools anymore???
