@Witless X: "Notice that while Urizenus has an email address link on the sidebar, Pixeleen doesn't. And why would she need one, if Pixeleen and Urizenus ARE the same person?"

Really? You mean pixeleen.mistral[at]gmail.com (listed right there in the sidebar) isn't an email address? Then it must be some secret code meaning "I am Urizenus, psych!!!111!!!"

It looks circumstantial, but when all the clues point in the same direction, sooner or later you have to ask yourself why.

OK, so I have no life and am clearly sitting in my mom's basement surrounded by empty pizza boxes, crushed cans of "Red Bull" and "Bawls," and taking a break from playing on-line "Halo" with seven adolescents with names like "DeadManWanking," "C0d3Br3akr" and "NoHonestImNot12."

Logophiles and Conspiracy Theorists may already have worked this out, but "Pixeleen Mistral" is an anagram of "Is all experiment." Similarly, Urizenus Sklar is "Nazi user lurks." If further proof were needed of a dastardly plot, "The Second Life Herald" is an anagram for "Hide the fallen coders!" (It's also an anagram for "She fellatio drenched" but I thought it politic not to go there - yet.)

But it goes deeper: Peter J. Ludlow is "Jew plot ruled. "Coincidence? Well, seems like a LOT of coincidences, eh?

So there you have it, dear dear readers: The Herald is nothing more than a Nazi-Jewish conspiracy to hide Griefers in Second Life, with the aim of achieving internet domination! And who said reading "Foucault's Pendulum" was a waste of time?

I'm still going shopping though.

i've wondered on occasion if Pixeleen was actually Urizenus.

quite similar stylistically (with the massive ego to boot!) and i wouldn't put it past Ludlow to pull something like that.

i myself would never refer to Ludlow, the overgrown child in disguise as an academic, as a "philosopher" by any means. although, i suppose abject hedonism fueled by unfettered egoism is a sort of philosophy. never the less, usually we let history decide who will be referred to as a Philosopher.

Does it really matter if it's true or not? What significance would the two being the same really have? They both work to accomplish virtually the same goals i virtually the same manner, so whether it's two people or one, the end result is still the same.

I would warn you about committing to fully to circumstantial evidence. While the pieces may look very clear and obvious, the trouble with circumstantial evidence is it is very easy for other facts to completely overturn your case. I've seen some very smart people make themselves look stupid by claiming alt links that turned out to be easily proven false once the charge was clearly made. You present a very good case at the moment, but if it is false, you could be surprised at how quickly it could be overturn.

About the only thing I can be reasonably sure of in SL is that I am ME. Anything else is based on experience and supposition (not to be confused with suppository, which is a different thing altogether). The mere fact that Second Life is, by design, a fantasy existence, suggests that trying to work out who is who, and who is an alt is chimerical at best and better left to folks who like to tilt at windmills.

The endemic uncertainty of identity in Second Life is also fertile ground for conspiracy. No doubt there are people out there - and hopefully a minority - who have unassailable proof that Linden Lab is no more than a front for the Illuminati, that the staff of the Herald is all alts for Elvis, and that the internet itself is run by aliens in Hanger 51. Finding links between X and Y is stunningly easy, but contingency is not correlation and simply listing lots and lots of links still makes the Truth nothing more than an exercise in the fabrication of verisimilitude.

Second Life is an Existentialist's paradise and folks who subscribe to other philosophies will spend most of their time scratching their pixilated heads until the prims fall off. There is little truth or reality in Second Life and should you choose to accept that notion, life - unreal as it is - becomes much more palatable.

Me? I'm going to go out and shop, do some work on the house, finish an article for the SL press, take my GF dancing, and then go to sleep in my primmy bed and log off. Mundane? Of course! Absurd? Naturally! But whether Pix is Uri has, in all honesty, zero effect on my Second Life, or indeed anyone else.

Unless he/she doesn't send a paycheck!

"The phrase about "the hall of mirrors that is the interwebs" is likewise not necessarily so telling. That seems like the sort of phrase a philosophy professor might use. If (as this SLH post suggests), Urizenus/Ludlow has used the phrase frequently, it wouldn't be so surprising that it would appear in both his comment and this SLH post. And of course, Urizenus/Ludlow, as editor of the SLH, might even have written both the comment and the post, in which case it would be entirely unsurprising that he'd use the same phrase in both places."

Yes that is what I am saying. I was saying that I believe that Ludlow wrote the post and this article AND that he is Pixeleen Mistral based on the writing style and the comment about Prok but you ARE right about the Prok thing. It really doesn't mean much at all because she is known to be such a conspiracy theorist. If this is true then I doubt we would ever find any hard evidence, only circumstantial like we've had. Ludlow is too smart to let the cat out of the bag by accident. The only time it will be revealed without a doubt is when he wants it to be. I'm not underestimating him but I am interested in him helping me prove it isn't true, if that is the case. If I was wrong then there will of course be a retraction.
