Media is media. Text, film, books, all contain a message. What matters and what makes one media like another is whether or not the viewer consumes the product with a critical eye. Someone who mindlessly shoots things in say, for instance, the game series of Bioshock, is certainly not doing anything like reading a book. However, someone who analyzes every bit of the games and goes in great lengths to understand the Anatman-Utilitarianism of Dr. Sofia Lamb, or the Ayn Rand Objectivism of Andrew Ryan...is indeed doing something very similar to reading a book. Than again, people can read books just as mindlessly as they watch TV or play video games. What makes media similar is the experience of the media, and that varies between people. Errin, ahem.
