I was sad to learn Carmen had passed, but richer to have known Carmen. Although Carmen's is no longer with us in bodily form, her spirit will always be with me -- Carmen's character tended to emboss itself upon those around her... and I am glad for it.

Even though my children never knew Carmen, those who knew Carmen would easily recognize some of her character in my children (now adults).

I was not familiar with Carmen in Second Life -- but I knew her prior to those days. For those of you who only knew her in the online world, you missed a wonderful person.

I met Carmen at La Boheme in Saratoga in the early 80's. Every Thursday Carmen, Mike and Bernie (Lionheart) educated the rest of us on real music. Carmen convinced me to once go to an SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism) event -- dressed up as in tights and chain maille. I met many interesting people through Carmen.

I moved away and had not seen Carmen in many years. I told my family and friends about Carmen and people I met through Carmen. Then one day, there was Tao, with his Volvo converted to transport Jerimiah (his donkey), right on our television. PBS had a show on interesting cars -- Tao's converted car to accomodate Jerimah was on the show. That was the second time I saw Tao's converted Volvo -- the first time I saw Tao's converted Volvo was with Carmen at La Boeheme just after Tao converted the car so he could bring Jeremiah with him.

Carmen wrote a song "I really love my old car" -- I miss hearing the songs Carmen sing that song. Margarite's description of Carmen's last car reminds me of Carmen singing that song.

Margarite, it would be wonderful to hear Carmen sing again. Do you have any recordings?

Mike, thank you for introducing me to Carmen. Does anyone have recordings of Carmen's or Lionheart's music? Mike, Bernie, Gary, .. are you out there?

Thank you so much, Margarite. Since I learned of Carmen's passing a few days after it happened, I've only had my own imagination to fill in the gaps and I've been left wondering about so many things.

I counted Carmen as one of my favorite people and a good friend even though we never met. It demonstrates that she reached into people's lives far beyond the physical reach of her arms. She was a rare and beautiful woman and she is missed.

I met Carmen first as her Sparrowhawk Perhaps persona as the Queen of Shivar in SL and quickly fell in love with her whit and ideals. Over time we came to call each other sister and brother, when she first bestowed that honor upon me I cried. I still cry even now knowing my only sister has passed beyond the veil and I'll not see her for some time yet. Our hours and days spent walking the battlements of the castle or floating miles above our island and talking will be forever cherished and reflected upon with great love. Carmen, aka Sparrowhawk Perhaps, aka humdog, aka Montserrat Tovar, aka Montserrat Snakeankle I love you my sister and I miss you.

Margarite, thank you for this posting you are helping us put things in perspective to rest and for that I thank you.

I am also known as Dezire Moonlight in Second Life. This has definitely helped me put things in perspective. Thank you Margarite. I was a close virtual friend of hers, I guess as close as you can get in a virtual world. Her death affected me so deeply that I have hardly been inworld since her passing. I am sooo sad that I couldn't have known her in real life but it's hardly possible as I live in Ontario Canada. I can only say that there was a person in SL that she fell deeply in love with a person she should have never known. I spent many hours talking to her and trying to get her to give up on this man and the dark fantasy he was taking her into called Gor. She was hopelessly in love. He shattered her dreams and I believe eventually her life. I will miss her as I have thus far... and hope to see her again some day... in spirit...

when i met carmen she was montserrat snakeankle. i am sure i came across as shy and hesitant with her. she presented this capable, open and overly intelligent presence that had me a bit off balance.
i met her at some meeting prokovky was having about freedom to do something or other, it was a long time ago. i had no idea she worked for the herald and asked her to pose for post sixx.
it is worth your time to google montserrat snakeankle and read what she wrote to accompany her pictures.
i want to say something expressing my sorrow at her passing, and feel inadequate trying to do so. she was a very interesting person.

I find her real life appearance more likeable than her second life appearance.
