@ Emperor Norton hears a who?

They didn't hack the CIA. They DDoS'd their public website so it was unavailable for half an hour and they baited the media with "we hacked the CIA we are badasses go us". You think they store any sensitive data on www.cia.gov?

Not to say that DDoS isn't illegal or anything.

hobo kelly @ "I doubt if an anarchist / hacker / lulz purveyor would hang out in the Contested Waters of Second Life though. would they?"

Were else but Second Life could someone talk themselves into something as dumb as nothing could possibly wrong for them personally if they hacked the CIA?

yeah its weird...

"...we set sail with our humble ship on an uneasy and brutal ocean..." -- "...the love machine, the machine powered by many machines..."

that sounds like a reference to the Blake Sea in SL and Phillips own Love Machine sort of yes no?

"...Even Hitler..."

that reminds me of "Could it be Hitler?"

"...we truly believe in the AntiSec movement. We believe in it so strongly that we brought it back, much to the dismay of those looking for more anarchic lulz..."

that reminds me of when the Herald came out and said it was going to be covering Cyber Hacking more and SL anarchy less, that whole Wikileaks thing that was going on...

"...Lulz Security – our crew of six wishes you a happy 2011, and a shout-out to all of our battlefleet members and supporters across the globe...”

Sailing, battlefleet members... that REALLY sounds like the Contested Waters of the Blake Sea near the Hollywood sim where the Blake Sea Battlefleet group hangs out from 10am to Noon ramming their dumb boats into each other. I doubt if an anarchist / hacker / lulz purveyor would hang out in the Contested Waters of Second Life though. would they?

I read this earlier, they have been exposed and are trying to cover their tracks lol.
I am sure the ones that survive arrest will be back in one form or another pulling their antics again.

wow, this long beach story has BOATS in it. i almost forgot about it.
hey, here is another story i found out on the internet that has boats in it that you might like. the style almost seems familiar...

"Friends around the globe,

We are Lulz Security, and this is our final release, as today marks something meaningful to us. 50 days ago, we set sail with our humble ship on an uneasy and brutal ocean: the Internet. The hate machine, the love machine, the machine powered by many machines. We are all part of it, helping it grow, and helping it grow on us.

For the past 50 days we've been disrupting and exposing corporations, governments, often the general population itself, and quite possibly everything in between, just because we could. All to selflessly entertain others - vanity, fame, recognition, all of these things are shadowed by our desire for that which we all love. The raw, uninterrupted, chaotic thrill of entertainment and anarchy. It's what we all crave, even the seemingly lifeless politicians and emotionless, middle-aged self-titled failures. You are not failures. You have not blown away. You can get what you want and you are worth having it, believe in yourself.

While we are responsible for everything that The Lulz Boat is, we are not tied to this identity permanently. Behind this jolly visage of rainbows and top hats, we are people. People with a preference for music, a preference for food; we have varying taste in clothes and television, we are just like you. Even Hitler and Osama Bin Laden had these unique variations and style, and isn't that interesting to know? The mediocre painter turned supervillain liked cats more than we did.

Again, behind the mask, behind the insanity and mayhem, we truly believe in the AntiSec movement. We believe in it so strongly that we brought it back, much to the dismay of those looking for more anarchic lulz. We hope, wish, even beg, that the movement manifests itself into a revolution that can continue on without us. The support we've gathered for it in such a short space of time is truly overwhelming, and not to mention humbling. Please don't stop. Together, united, we can stomp down our common oppressors and imbue ourselves with the power and freedom we deserve.

So with those last thoughts, it's time to say bon voyage. Our planned 50 day cruise has expired, and we must now sail into the distance, leaving behind - we hope - inspiration, fear, denial, happiness, approval, disapproval, mockery, embarrassment, thoughtfulness, jealousy, hate, even love. If anything, we hope we had a microscopic impact on someone, somewhere. Anywhere.

Thank you for sailing with us. The breeze is fresh and the sun is setting, so now we head for the horizon.

Let it flow...

Lulz Security - our crew of six wishes you a happy 2011, and a shout-out to all of our battlefleet members and supporters across the globe"

The big idea of the event was for people to get together and throw their ideas and opinions around as well as have some fun. We held the party as a way to talk with some people from Blue Mars and show off what WU has been working on in regards to content creation. Pix was there too, he was almost about to get a picture of me sleeping through the discussions, but I kinda knew something was up when things got quiet. XD

Also; being the lovable scamps that we are; we paid off security for a life-time pass to all the no-public zones of the ship-- we had booze in the old first-class swimming pool.

Oh and here's a rather obscure tid-bit that you'll only see on the Queen Mary. Goto the Captain's Arcade and one of the machines' games was replaced by Progear. You can tell because the Progear label is taped over the original game-- the original game being Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. I was so happy and sad at the same time. :<

As of right now we've been thinking about having the Queen Mary thing be an annual Woodbury University event. Also; we helped improve the accommodations of the ship by working out a deal with the people who run the Queen Mary-- They should be getting improved Wi-Fi internet among other things.

"We accomplished what we held the event for and we most certainly don’t need your trust in the matter."

What did you hold the event for? A good party, or something more... interesting?

lol, you guys really are fickle. I'm doing you guys a favor by providing at least some shred of evidence long before any official videos and pictures come out because I know it's going to be a while- some people don't want their pictures posted on the internet and based on the way you guys act, I can see why. We accomplished what we held the event for and we most certainly don't need your trust in the matter.

Believe us or don't. At this point in time the only way any of you will ever be certain would be if you actually attended the event, or you can get out of your house and goto the Soviet Gift shop and compare the prices like I said earlier (keep in mind you would have to do this IRL).

Oh, and here's another good one. Ask the Soviet Shop owner if a bunch of guys came over and asked if they could hang their flag on the Soviet Submarine.

It also looks to me like "The Alphaville Herald" was doing the partying from the above comments. That would mean that the Herald is really just run by the Woodbury people, which everyone suspected all along anyway.
