Nicholas Mafia Patch Illicit Viewers — Trash Sephora Gang Site
by Pixeleen Mistral on 04/05/10 at 1:04 pm
The Linden Lab crackdown on third party viewers may be having unintended consequences — at least one in-world mafia has released a collection of what are claimed to be patched illicit viewers that can circumvent the Linden blocks on banned Second Life client software. Apparently, to be a gangsta means running a viewer with extra capabilities, despite the game god’s distaste for this sort of play. It was unclear if the Nicholas mafia viewer collection is a legitimate attempt by the notorious gang to assist other gangs in a somewhat questionable lifestyle, or actually a honeypot or sting operation. Would you trust your account and password to a mafia-patched viewer? Will the gangsters comply with the GPL open source requirement to publish source code?
Nicholas mafia download page
This development is not a total surprise. The Herald was contacted last week by a shady individual who pointed out the Lab’s third party viewer policy threatened the mafia meta-game and was driving the gang wars outside Second Life and onto various web sites, where individuals who are not part of the family might be harmed – and real life information shared with unfortunate consequences.
Meanwhile, the latest developments in the gang war between the Nicholas Mafia and the Sephora Mafia resulted in the Sephora gang web site being torched and left empty save for a few 404 error messages – a stark reminder of the power of the Nicholas clan. Who needs Facebook for mafia wars, when you can trash real life web sites?
While the Herald staff admired the Sephora Mafia’s musical selection in their YouTube video challenge to the Nicholas family, the Sephora gang may want to spend more time on security before challenging the Nicholas clan again. But attitude is important, and we do have to give Sephora some style points – and suggest that it might be better for everyone if the fun stays inside the game – a lesson Kalel Venkman and the Justice League Unlimited may have learned recently.
Before their site was trashed, a Sephora gang member sent this message to the Herald:
Like I posted to you before, the war has started, we have released Real pictures of members of Nicholas mafia…threats have been passed to us of simple DDOS on our website and simple **4chan** skiddie hackers trying to break through our security. Post bets on whose website goes away faster? Stand By For Rickroll Of Nicholas Mafia’s Website…
We know Nicholas Mafia has ties with Lindens and the lab, And we also know that they are exploiting Second Life viewers Such as Nielife and Cyrolyfe to use as there own for full copybot permissions, allowing them admin controls such as ban/kick/log out/ and also steal land. Sure they use these for there own uses for there enemies such as us. It is just a matter of time before it is released to the public and groups such as PN and other griefers get a hold of it allowing them total chaos within Second Life.

In 2010, an on crack justice unit was sent to prison by a public court for a crime they certainly committed.
These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Hero Island underground. Today, still wanted by the furries, they survive as retards of fortune.
If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire… The Justice League Unlimited.

Yah – random pointless JLU post – Judge Joker is IntLibber, no doubt about that now.

@It’s Unfixable: lol, are you one of those people who pick up and put away a single object in their room and consider the whole room clean? ;D
You’ll notice you were miles away from your goal when you decided to claim accomplishment. \D
I’m the only Woodburied that has made a response in this topic and it was about how to find out if someone is an alt of Intlibber. ;P
If anything, all you’ve done is redirect this article to be about a dumb 4-channer who thinks he’s good at trolling. ;o

“that can circumvent the Linden blocks on banned Second Life client software”
Is anyone surprised by this? The client’s “ID” is nothing more than some coded behavior that identifies it. If you’re patching a client, you’d literally have to go out of your way to *not* spoof that client’s ID.

The funny part is many of these viewers are quite legitimate. People don’t seem to get it, just because a viewer isn’t on the TPV list, doesn’t mean it’s banned or illicit.
I would just get your viewer from it’s source, not this page. No telling what icky things they added to them.

Kiddoh,
“It’s Unfixable” is just Kalel attempting to regain relevance, thinking he can pull off a replication of my old Angel = Mudkips trick. The problem of course being that both Judge Joker and I are both well known individuals who are quite distinguishably different, and thousands of miles separate in RL. Thus Kalolz remains full of fail.

HXO & SL Chocolate work fine. Best to use something like SLfreedom with them but I’ve had no problems.
Gemini/Emerald & the so-called creators that support them are going to find things getting worse for them, not better.
Go spend your 700L per month while we laugh at you.
As for destroying any/all income on SL… exactly. Matter of time.
If certain people are allowed to play vigilantes + judge/jury/executioner then it means all people are allowed to do that.
TPVP only made it harder for the n00bs, doesn’t affect those of us that know what we’re doing lol

All the noise about viewers and versions is laughable. Find one you like and stick to it. There’s no real reason to upgrade or change viewers just because someone (LL or others) come out with another version that has a minor tweak in it.
i’m using the Boy Lane “Cool Viewer” that I installed on top of the standard LL viewer build last February and it continues to work just fine . At this point, it’s been installed and running for close to 15 months.

It is just a matter of time since LL doesn’t want to take the time and take care of security issues that makers in second life will have no income at all. These clients are allowing people to take things full permissions, scripts, animations, the whole deal. you never have to pay for anything ever again.

Its easier and cheaper in SL, no material costs and you can employ child avatars (god, I hate these) to do your work for pittance without retribution.
@ The Maffy-arz
Giving for free or selling copy enabled clients out for use is retarded.
Real Mafia are like ferengi, out for profit. If you destroy the economy there is no good product being made. Therefore now monetary flow. Therefore no profit!
It would interesting to see a psych profile for internet mafia dons – XD
Kiddoh
May 9th, 2010
I’m aware it’s easier and cheaper, but if copybutt is going to go rampant, is there any real reason for people to continue to make stuff in SL for profit? I think the people who would most benefit from this are the people who make stuff just to make stuff.
Alex Ponebshek
May 9th, 2010
Lol, is there any reason for people to make real world music?
Is there an analogue to copybot in real world music? (yes)
Just because people can pirate doesn’t mean everybody will. It’s a lost cause to try to stop the people from pirating who aren’t going to give you money anyways. As long as there exists a *legitimate* customer base, though, you can still make money.

Hey Guys, Im sorry to say this, and I take no sides in the illegal hacking, and Copybotting. I knew about this site, and many other people behind it way before any of you guys did.
I know about Skills Hak, the emerald team, their illegal doings, and connections Making threats to people to work with them and help them against copybotting, or they will get them jail time.
Let me explain something to the public so you know.
You cant go to jail for using a copybot Viewer. The most is getting your account Banned from SecondLife, unless you illegally copybot someone elses work. But then they would have to prove that in a court or Law, so the FBI would take your PC and look on it, and everything, and all they would find is against the SL TOS viewer.
Linden Lab will not win, I have the SL PE/ SL BE sourcecodes, I have skills Hak’s CDS source code, the New One, The Onyx Project will fail, because all people have to do is simply re upload the assets sculpts, and images onto a copybotted object, all of them, and Onyx cannot tell if it is copybotted or not.
So Seriously, You Creators in SecondLife want our help, again I take no part in any illegal actions, I just support Open SL (; Dont Support CDS, or any other system like it, and make yourself a victim in the Copybot wars.

Also it does not matter if a person is handing out illegal Viewers.
If you Hack them using any type of exploits, You Can Be held responsible by Law for breaking it, and go to jail, it doesnt matter Hacking a hacker is still illegal…
Also DO proper Measures, and get Linden Lab to contact the site Host, and they will remove it and give them a warning.

You do realize by posting information about them as well as a screenshot of their website you pretty much just advertised “illigal” cracked versions of second life viewers right?
Whats the saying theres no such thing as negative publicity? way to go you just opened up many people who had no idea about this site to go and download illigal viewers that can copybot people. you should be reported to the linden labs and everyone who runs this site (the herald) that is should have their accounts banned. idiots.
besides this just goes to show that Linden Labs are freaking idiots, they make a big freaking deal about 3rd party viewers now and a simple “mafia” website that is most likely filled with 14 year old kiddy scripters is able to bypass the security mesures of a multi-million doller coperation. by simply PATCHING old viewers
how dumb is that?
oh and you know what i lost all respect for linden labs after they axed emerald viewer because of a few “attacks” they “said” happen. emerald viewer was one of the best viewers out there they put in copy protection MONTHS before linden labs even THOUGHT about doing that. but what do they get for it? banned from second life.
i hope every developer of emerald comes back to second life and copybots the crap out of everyone.
Oh and by the way linden labs cant permaban a person from second life if their lives depended on it. ever hear of dsl and non static ips? and the fact that neillife (patched) has built in pc ban evasion?
please.
you want to do some good? create hard hitting articles about how linden labs have screwed people out of thousands of dollers and how they refuse to fix any of the major problems in second life.
if you are to blame anyone dont blame the “hackers” and “copybotters” blame a corperation that does NOTHING to stop them for good thats who you should blame.
idiots.

@ Dr Fell
So you would rather the viewers be hidden from the general SL public for vetted use? Is this because you use one and want to feel all powerful in front of the n00bs?
I am saying this because you sure as hell are not condoning their use, are you? Because you say, and I quote:
‘i hope every developer of emerald comes back to second life and copybots the crap out of everyone.’
I honestly can say I have no idea if you are pro or anti copybot. I don’t really care tbh. But before shouting idiots at people you don’t understand, I suggest you proof read your post to ensure it makes at least some sense.
Personally I think raising awareness by proof of existence is far better than writing an article about something overheard in a sandbox, or worse no article at all. At least people will see they exist and maybe even try them. Proof is in the pudding, right?
Finally just FYI – DSL and dynamic IP’s are irrelevant, as a static IP user for over six years I can tell you avoiding HW bans in SL is childs play.
