The Cat, the Reverend and the Slave

Those outside France interested in a view of the real life players behind the Second Life screen can only hope that The Cat, the Reverend and the Slave documentary moves into wider availability after last week’s opening in Paris. Perhaps the Oprah Winfrey Network will be interested in a companion piece to Life 2.0?

Alain Della Negra and Kaori Kinoshita’s film explores the Second Life furry, Gorean, and Christian communities, and based on the excerpts found on YouTube might not be the first choice to be shown at the next SLCC conference.

Alain and Kaori are also terrific people. Congrats to them on completing this project.

    I’m disgusted.

Is that first guy still using a CRT monitor?

The first one is a furry… Do not trust the furries!

The evil ones who caused The Emerald Troubles were furries!

I guess this is how it ends – not with a bang, nor a whimper, but just sort of a wet splat.

Here you all are, all posting in some dumbass blog because nobody else will talk to you.

    @ Tracey Humphreys

And yet, one of the frontline players in the war against Emerald was also a furry. Huh.

I guess the only thing we can learn from that is furries are just more clever and motivated than non-furries, whether malevolent or benevolent.

In any case, please don’t associate us with that cat guy. He’s worse than a fursuiter.

I think the only thing we can conclusively confirm is that furries are furrier than non-furries.

    Nelson,
Furrys, as a rule, are drama whores, in addition to being sneaky, duplicitous liars. There are a few exceptions, however usually the exceptions are merely latent drama whores or sneaky duplicitous liars, or both. There is no rule saying furrys can’t or won’t cause drama or be duplicitous toward other furrys.

However, if you are talking about Hazim, last time I checked, he wasn’t a furry. The solid untextured ascii-cat head he wears some times isn’t a furry av, it is a mask. This may have changed. If it has, it only reinforces the aforementioned rules. Hazim is a huge drama whore, as long as it is for the lulz.

    @ Marx Dudek

I’m not sure. Do you have the numbers to back that up? Perhaps a link to a reputable government website stating the same? If you don’t, tough luck, some people here aren’t gonna buy it.

    @ General Drama

I would fall under the “drama” and “whore” categories, then. I don’t really lie that often, unless people ask me “when is ____ going to be updated/released”, in which case I say “eventually”, when usually I mean “never”.

In addition, no, I was talking about myself primarily.

Lol. Funny detail that only one out of three emerald devs that ff-ed things up was a furry. Guess that means you cannot trust human or neko avs either.
Ps plural of furry is Furries. Not furrys. Lern 2 English.

Come on people! Don’t judge your players with these videos. There are as many variations of Lifestyle as players exist in SL. Some might live like that, this is their shelter, their lifestyle and they are happy with it. You should not judge by their untidyness or appearance. Look at some polticans e.g.: They have for sure a designloft, well tidied up but they can be the biggest criminals, while maybe this guy with the creepy appearance and untidy room is a very very nice and social guy?

Plus: As I mentioned: SL is a clash of various Lifestyles. There are also people who wear Designer-Suits, have a tidy room and the most expensive design-monitor, and they play SL. It’s just your choice how you can be happy.

    See you!

    Totally true

even stranger is that there are muslims in Second Life

despite the fact that the quran expressly forbids the making of images of living things- which surely includes Avatars?

I’m pretty sure that an avatar does not fall under that law. Most avatars aren’t even vaguely representative of their owners.
