Lindens caught correcting their less-than-positive blog entries

Lindens never say missing

A few residents were bemused thursday when they found the RSS headline from an official Linden blog entry on the metaverse’s database woes led to a missing web page. On the other hand, if your in-world inventory is returning the metaverse version of error 404 not found, and search tools have been missing for over a week – would you be surprised that the Linden blog did the same thing?

One of the interns flagged me down when I dropped by the Herald offices with news that the red irony light on the mojo wire started blinking thursday afternoon – a sign that the Lindens have been goofing on themselves again – and a likely clue to the mystery of the missing blog page about missing inventory.

I shuffled through the pile of paper spewed from the mojo wire and saw the usual invoices for large drop shipments of Veuve Cliquot to the Herald yacht, and offers from our procurement specialists to substitute Perrier Jouët Fleur de Champagne — Uri you really need to let those people know your position on Veuve Cliquot vs. Perrier Jouët – their questions are getting tiresome. Still, nothing out of the ordinary here. But then my eyes were drawn to something odd near the bottom of the invoice heap.

The mojo wire – our state-of-the-art Linden blog monitor – had captured an aborted blog entry before the re-titled version made it to the RSS newsfeed. An updated blog entry eventually replaced the nerfed version – but if anyone wants insight into the Linden psyche – consider the almost obsessive need to be positive here.

The nerfed blog entry was titled “Restoration of Missing inventories moved to another database” – which seems clear enough – residents understandably feel that if their objects do not appear in their inventory they are missing.

However this was replaced by an entry titled “Restoration of Inventories moved to another database”. In other words, “missing” is missing from the title. In a week marked with missing searches features, missing group vote tools, missing group notice tools, should we be really be surprised that the word “missing” was banned from the Linden lexicon?

I miss the word ‘missing’. Was the word really so bad? Ah well, I suppose I shall have to make due by talking about “disappeared inventories.”
