Girl’s Night Out Fashion Show — Exclusive Photos!
by Tenshi Vielle, Fabulous Fashionista
Exhilarating and exhausting! Fun and surreal!” These are Callie Cline’s words, fresh off of a fashion high after the Ivillage Girl’s Night Out Fashion Show. Despite a few hiccups, the ingenius build spanned the crux of four sims and handled about 150 avatars, including models that displayed all forms of beauty from Callie Cline, Simone, and Paper Couture.
Many fans, fashion worshippers, and attendees could be found upwards of five hours earlier, camping out the Sheep Island sim to get the best spot for viewing the show. Yours truly was right up front – want to guess how long I waited?
Mostly, the evening went off without a hitch. With the most amazing stage designed by the ever-worshipped Barnesworth Anubis (all hail!) the models, lithe and glowing, proudly lifted their heads and marched across the runway.
Callie’s sweet swimsuit is a charmer, and complete with the lovely hat is a perfect outfit for a day at the beach.

Paper Couture does it again with an amazing gold-tone formal gown and handpainted textures.
The AMAZING limited edition Shiny Things bag, supporting alternate energy sources. The windmills actually rotate on the bag!
Simone pops off another winner, perfect for Valentine’s Day: sweet, innocent, and god knows what kind of panties you could be packing under that.
The hemlines of Simone’s princess dress were truly stunning and fit for royalty.
A mash-up of designers showcases how an outfit can be pulled together using a few different resources.
On-stage interview of Simone after the show
Simone Stern takes questions from the audience:
iVillage Fashion Announcer shouts: Be proud of all you do, as the residents in SL look sharper and more elegant due to your talent. All who have questions for Simone can now stand. Simone will make her choices.
Popfuzz Bamboo: Simone Thank you so much for bringing yoru wonderful Artistic talent to SL, you make SL beautiful
Simone Stern: Ok who has a question please?
Celebrity Trollop: Well done, Simone. Your line of skins is fairly recent. What inspired you to try skinning?
Simone Stern: Couldnt find the makeups I wanted to wear in SL.
Lucas Lameth: How many hours a week do you dedicate designing Simone?
Popfuzz Bamboo: Simone will you be making any more Fairy Wear in the future
Musimba Yellowknife: Will you be having a fashion show displaying the Mens fashions you created?
Simone Stern: Too many Lucas
Lucas Lameth: lol
Simone Stern: WHen I am inspired POp
Popfuzz Bamboo: what can I do to inspire you heheh
Luve Schack: Simone is there a place we can stay updated on your charity work?
Simone Stern: Yes, Musi I will
Simone Stern: Luve in my FIRST LIFE profile there’s a link to our AYeshe site.
Luve Schack: Thank you dear.
iVillage Fashion Announcer shouts: This will be the final question for the Simone.
Simone Stern: ok I dont wanna hog the stage. IM me if you have questions! Thanks and buyyyye!
I hung around afterwards to interview a few of the participants. I followed Callie Cline backstage with promises of a swag bag (offer me a swag bag, I’ll follow you anywhere) but instead I gained interviews:
Backstage at the Ivillage show.
Tenshi Vielle: Torrid, I’m writing for the SL Herald tonight – do you have any comments you would like to make about the show? I see you’re on the Ivillage Maintenance team.
Torrid Midnight: Haha yeah so I could kick any trouble makers
Tenshi Vielle:
Torrid Midnight: Luckily we only had one!
Tenshi Vielle: Yes…. the one whiner. Did you end up kicking her out?
Torrid Midnight: I really enjoyed the show, yes of course there was lag but I don’t think I’ve been to a show where everyone was having this much fun.
Torrid Midnight: I think they showed just enough fashion too so it didn’t run too long.
Tenshi Vielle: sure. How was it putting the outfits together, getting the models prepped?
Tenshi Vielle: and then seeing your work cruising down that wonderful Barnesworth Anubis catwalk?
Callie Cline: it all sorta flowed out in a week
Callie Cline: lol
Tenshi Vielle: sometimes working under pressure is the best.
Callie Cline: ya not easy but fun
Callie Cline:
Callie Cline: i had a wonderful time
Callie Cline: and was beyond honored to be invited to participate
Callie Cline: working with ivillage and aspire was a great experience
I didn’t count on the most amusing and impressive interview of the evening to come from one of the Lu’s of Paper Couture. Wait, yes I did.
Mare Lu will get you if you cross her Fashion Line.
Tenshi Vielle: Mare, I’m writing for the SL Herald this evening. Do you have any comments you would like to make on the experience of working with Ivillage and others to pull this fashion show together?
Tenshi Vielle: Or comments on your feelings for the evening in general?
Mare Lu: it was orange
Mare Lu: it made us feel orange
Tenshi Vielle: Did it smell like oranges?
Tenshi Vielle: Or was it just visually orange?
Mare Lu: Just… orange
Tenshi Vielle: Thank you.
Moving on from the Orange Lady, I caught Cider Starbrook, the Ivillage Hostess, before she left and asked her for some of her thoughts.
Cider Starbrook, wearing Callie Cline.
Tenshi Vielle: Cider, would you like to make any comments on your experiences this evening for the SL Herald?
Cider Starbrook: Sure!
Cider Starbrook: Well my first thought it “WHAT A SUCCESS!”
Tenshi Vielle: hehe
Tenshi Vielle: Torrid said her count was at 150 including models.
Cider Starbrook: Like true SL fashion there were hiccups
Tenshi Vielle:
Cider Starbrook: yes, it was a full event
Cider Starbrook: maxed out on every sim
Cider Starbrook: everyone was very professional
In all, the evening was amazing despite being poorly marketed. Each designer brought their own vision of fashion to the catwalk, and the show was a bang-up job from beginning to end. I was impressed – and I’m still waiting on my swag bag from Callie Cline.

I’m kicking myself that I missed this!
Thanks for the pics and profiles. Not as good as being there, but fun nonetheless. The Paper Couture bag looks really incredible.

I’d like to correct an error in this article, that windmill bag was created by Falling water, not Paper Couture and was a limited edition. It was not created by us. Thank you.

Some of it gorgeous, some of it very umm.. not. Just like a regular fashion show! Congrats!
I think it would have helped almost of of them for the models to wear a ‘skirt’ shape….

“the evening was amazing despite being poorly marketed”
in many ways I’m actually glad the lead-in buzz wasn’t more… we filled the sims we had, and the lag was strong enough dtv was having to reboot, and at one point her camera was frozen so she couldn’t zoom in… 150 avs is a lot… but I’m not sure how happy the video watchers were… hopefully they still had fun too. But more buzz would have meant more people wanting to get to the sims who could not…

the ppl i spoke to who watched it off the net loved it!!! not sure what they saw, but i guess good enough to see!
i had a blast, it was a nice turn out, and like torrid said, not too many outfits, not too little, just right..
great crowd too… and overall, with the way lag has been in SL even in my EMPTY sim, with NOTHING in it, i’d say we were pretty lucky!!!

So bummed I couldn’t get in. Would love to see a show that compares skins. Perhaps iVillage will set up more ‘satellites’ for the rest of us next time. Will have to go out and spend several hundred more dollars on SL outfits. You can never have too many clothes. So much to buy, so little time. Tenshi rocks.

As usual
The RL and SL fashion Divas can’t string a sentence together unless its about themselves, which they can gush about for bloody hours.
Trouble with these events is, the promo for SL is awful.
The search events returns mostly trash and its out of date, places often abandoned or taken over.
next time – try a streaming video link to a large town sqaure or website and let us all watch?
But don’t ask the divas, Orange was soooooooo 80′s
and sh#te at the time too.
