Friday May 11, 2007 – The Charleston Harbor Navy (CN for short) held a press conference to announce their declaration of war with the Alliance Navy and the Second Life Sky Navy. Held in a hidden bunker somewhere in Rizal the announcement was made to a very small audience. Although no gunfire could be heard outside during the conference, one of the representatives, Voldo Asp, had to leave shortly after the conference began. Adm. of Ground Voldo Asp was unable to return to the conference and reasons for his departure were left to the imagination.
The Charleston Harbor Navy, as with other military groups in SL, work towards the betterment of Second Life and attempt to protect the other residents from harm and griefing. In Inuyasha Deere’s own words, “We, the military founded by the power of Republicanism, wish to assist the citizens of Second Life. We will destroy these negative influences for you. I salute you”. Inuyasha Deere holds the rank of Imperial Admiral in the Charleston Navy and is emperor and head of state of The Federal Republican Navy.
In their official statement, Admiral Deere stated, “The Federal Republican Navy declares war on the Alliance Navy, Second Life Sky Navy, and will work towards shutting down Mr. Lee’s Greater Hong Kong- a group we accuse of funding griefers and being a scam to the citizens of Second Life. These are in our personal interests, and also in our utmost respect and support for both the Merczateers Tactical Forces and The Grand Federation. I make this statement without any doubt or regrets. The allied states will win this war. On the behalf of the Republic of Korea, death to the Alliance Navy”.
Hades Fraenkel explained, “You see, [Chrischun Fassbinder, owner of Mr. Lee's Greater Hong Kong] somewhat a scammer, because you think you are supporting the funds of an old, poor asian when [you] are actually paying a patrician. … He also makes fake claims such as ‘unlimited money per minute’”. You may have seen spinning ad cubes around the mainland with Mr. Lee’s advertised. This would be the business owner that we are talking about. Mr Fassbinder was unavailable for comment at the time this article was written.
The war between the various military groups in SL is not new. It has been well covered in the Herald. We are, however, seeing an increase in hostilities and the beginnings of shifting alliances. The CN has also given up on the MOSCOW treaty and does not believe that the CN is getting the same level of respect they give to others. Admiral Deere went on to say, “The socialist MOSCOW leader [Ethan Schuman] has often called us ‘ ankle dogs’ or ‘weasels’ when we have captured Tethys on numerous occasions”. However, the primary reason for giving up on MOSCOW was, “We withdrew from [MOSCOW] for the reason that we could not form alliances with Non-MOSCOW States. Now that we left MOSCOW, we have over a half dozen of allies”.
With open war now declared with the Alliance Navy and the Charleston Navy unwilling to be involved in the new talks to find a replacement for SLSALT, while they are at war with the group that is spearheading the talks, it will be a very long time before a coherent inter-group fair system for combat can be established. In the mean time the raids, accusations, and animosity will continue.

Hi my name is AndrewUK and im setting up a force called the SLMP (second life military police) a force set up to combat civilian and military greifers (merczateers, federation) I hope when my organisation gets larger I will be able to work with AN and SLSN. Because they are the only forces trying to stop the greifers.

I think mercz out number us what 4 to 1 and yet have still been unable to completely defeat us in any.
That is because you can’t really win battles in SL until a group surrenders or the morale in the group is to low to keep a single member.So you have to be honest in battle . If your ass was kicked, face it and i can tell my ass was kicked during operation crucifex. I couldn’t sit for a week.
Okay let’s get some things straight. I start with my glider. My glider was scripted/build my AN and stephmo deckard and is not an official issued mercz item. ( i just put the logos on it). It works as follow. You do a double jump and keep keep hitting the up button during the jump. Then you reach a certain height depending on the times you hit the page up button. Then you slowly lose height. The speed depends on the direction of the wind. You can steer with it but not that does not work smooth. You could compare it with a gravpack. You have even more control with a gravpack cause you can gain height again if you want to, with a glider you can’t.
The weapons. All the mercz weapons i recieved in my career as a mercz ( since Hjalmer, starting with the lancer) were made by lurdan or an other mercz. Sirlor Stonecutter used to be a merczateer Elite and yes we used his scripts all the time till the stable treaty prohibted the use of no reload weapons. Or new weapons are made by Ishida dye.Besides the weapons SLSN use are bought from AN. hardly unique either eh? ( same with the planes)
About the tunnels…no we didn’t steal anything from you. Our tunnels come from the old Adscita and that was before SLSN was born.
There is a lot of critcism about our recruitment and yes i am responsible for that i’m afraid. Our rules allow everyone that is a month old to join and sticked to those rules. When you join you become a recruit and then you have to do a training to join the bulk of the force. We instruct the theory and the codes of conduct and basics in the use of firearms, parachute etc. We believe that soldiers are made in the field and not in the class. That is the reason why our low ranked training is that short and we are attacking endless almost continuously. I am the result of that method. You may think i suck in combat or whatever but mercz made me to what i am and i am proud on it.
About our allies. We barely accept ally offers and the only reason why we are more or the less allied with CN ( if we are 0_o?) is that we have a common enemy. The AN. But we are no babysitters. We expect our allies to be able to take care of themselves and if needed we can help.
to Adrew. I think it is a pitty you call us greifers cause in my opinion were not. Every group has to deal with a couple of new soldiers that don’t understand the meaning of not-spawnkilling and that kind of things but you can’t blame the entire group for that. Anyway good luck with your group.

I will say inuy, that “aside from my pathetic life” as you call it. im a very very busy women so i dont have time to reply to these little boyish comments from you. and since i took over the AD whitch means = Air div since you dont have one, ive been training my “pilots” the best i can and if you want a one to one on endless or your terth Me ina tomcat and you in your boat or if you have got a freebee aircraft you can just about fly i will be happy to show you how to die.
oh and aircraft that use “E” to fly – our tomcats are alittle bit better than useing one letter keys to fly.

- page up and down = up and down.
for a speed burst is arrow keys forward and back.

Inuyasha, just for the record, Corsair has approached Sarah Golem with the prospect of developing aircraft for us. Now, I was alright with the thought of her building for your group too, but with posts like these… I don’t think it would be in our best interests to allow you to use aircraft built by our designer. So don’t get too attached to this whole little ASSWAD thing you have going on, because we’ll be extending a rather generous offer to her within 48 hours, and I’m quite confident she’ll accept.

And i was present when CN ” attacked ” Emit time, and i witnessed CN memebers using Shields, AV flying and shooting from safe zones I Even got an appoligy from a CN officer for his collegues misbehavior, but when further questioning takes place they deny it.
And as for SLSN, AN and the Merczateers, i belive you Where all created to stop griefers, but instead, waste time attacking each other rather than doing what you should be doing, protecting public in Sandboxes and the such, that way, you won’t get all the one sided comments on SL Herald and other news sites cause you would be doing the right thing, and focusing on the reason you where created.
And as far as im concerned, CN where created for one reason: To cause chaos on all other Military.

The public has no use for military groups in their domain now. The Second Life community didn’t want soldier boys in their sandbox, so the good ones took the hint, packed up, and moved out of the area to where their presence would have a minimum impact on others. Now, I can tell you right now, that if you want a detail of Merczateers/Alliance Navy personnel to protect your private territory, all you have to do is make contact with them. But as for public areas, the real military groups are out of there, and will likely never return.

Let me get this straight, SLSN calls AM greifers, and they call the Mercz, Fed and SN greifers, I must put that in my quotes folder, its quite humorous…..
SLSN openly orbits the AM base practically every day, dont try to deny it cao, coz i have a interesting snap of a SLSN frig hovering as orbiters are let loose, you are nothing more than common greifers.
also in ANs pathetic attaemp to attack badnarik i saw 2 Molays get taken down by one A-BAT, then again i was driving……

Just on the record, I have seen Penny use a psiTEC a few times, and I’ve caught SLSN recruits doing stuff they shouldn’t. That being said… I’ve PERSONALLY engaged numerous Alpha Marines that avatar fly (one of which who was wearing no clothes when doing so), use phantom ammunition, and fire from safeland. In addition, while it does not relate to the griefer discussion, Splinter Batz is an awful pilot. That is all.

god I cant believe this thread is still going after all this time just to clear up the alpha marine issue they brought a small plot of land directly adjacent to psychwar and decided it would be fun to try to crash the slsn sim on a daily basis anyone wishing to see proof of this go find guy linden so we fealt the need to bomb the holy crap out of there place until they decided it wasnt wise and moved to a new base at no point did we ever use orbiters also how the fuck can you see an orbiter fox that I would truly love to see and that slsn frig as you call it was the SLSN MESSIAH and it was shooting turret rounds at you you stupid slsn reject now come back when your half assed gang of greifers learns how to obey slalt or any combat rules for that matter

Is there ANY military groups out there who just, ya know, play pretend war for fun, instead of accusing eachothers of crimes and being griefers, and have the ‘noble’ *laughs* cause of ridding the grid of griefers and protect teh poor people?
I really really want to join a military group, but I don’t feel like all this horseshit as described in the numerous comments above. I want to play combat in a military setting, just for fun, and not because some other group is declared ‘griefers’. Fun, is what I’m after, not meaningless bullshit.
So, aside from all the AN, SLU, PN, Mercs, Sparta, HALO sparta or whatever bullshit groups, are there ANY that are just interrested in playing combat? If so, Please let me know.

Wargamer, Mercz have begun work on our new combat system to get away from the rather limited Linden Lab system. You might want to come take a look at one of our tech demos when we host one. We should be having another public test sometime next week. Mercz and AN don’t really associate with each other that much anymore. It’s rather refreshing.

Ethan, all due respect for you and your group… But I have seen too many comments from people that gave me the idea that the Mercs aren’t my kind of wargamers. I want something like Counterstrike… Just fight, when you get shot, you die, no nonsense of ‘wanting to protect citizens’.
Something like City Of Lost Angels, but then in a warzone setting, instead of a Grand Theft Pedestrian gone bad with politics and vampires setting. I like vampires mind you. They’re just a little difficult when you pick a fight with them. Get all prissy and stuf, take it personal. But, I digress.
Ethan, may I advise BTW to take a look at some of the existing combat systems like the ones used in COLA and Toxian City? saves having to create and debug your own

DCS is a lagtastic piece of crap that has far too many limitations for it to be useful for us. (That statement is, of course, relative to the needs of SL militaries. It does the job it was intended to quite well.) The same is really true with COLA, though the supposed open source nature of it would place it above the DCS system. (I’m not very familiar with the COLA system personally, I can’t say much more on it.)
The problem is that the Second Life military community uses more than just guns. The major military groups make ample use of vehicles and full sim bases/battlefields even in minor engagements. However, there is no system out there that I have been able to find which offers even rudimentary support for vehicles, as well as includes things like falling damage (both of which are in our current meter build). In addition to that, we require additional features, such as objectives which can be taken, a viable injury/medic/respawn system (which is already implemented), and the ability to directly interface with a gun for the purposes of score keeping. There’s so much work to still be done on it, but we’ve got a good start so far, and we’d like to have something that could be used for at least a closed (or if things go well enough, an open) beta test before the end of the year.

Looking back on this goneby era, I realize how naive and stupid I was. I tried to tear through and wreck the morale of groups several times my size without even having an adequate officer or enlisted staff….. lacking even a half decent recruitment system. This is one time I can laugh at myself, this shows my previous ignorance.
