[this week, Marilyn Murphy has a real find - Amie & Carolynn Flanagan who are RL twins! Marilyn is, of course, the photographer and visionary behind Players, SL's super in-world erotica magazine. This week I expect our readers will be seeing double - but nobody is complaining. Enjoy! -- the Editrix]

So much has been written about Amie and Carolynn Flanagan, it’s time to try and separate fact from fiction and maybe put a few rumors to rest. They grew up in a smallish California town and as identical twins who liked mischief, they quickly became used to being the talk of the town.
Yes, it’s true the girls are real-life twins (whoda thunk?) who’ve reunited in Second Life after being cruelly separated at the age of 19. Well okay, what was cruel about it was that Amie went east to go to school, leaving Carolynn back home on the west coast to keep the home fires burning (and Mom from totally freaking out). Amie graduated cum laude (not a sex position, boys) and went on to fame and fortune in the business world, unfortunately a lot of the details in between aren’t for publication because Mom does have access to teh internets. In the meantime, Carolynn did her time at a local community college and has been happy getting involved in various social work projects.
Not too long ago, Amie convinced Carolynn that joining Second Life would be a wonderful way for them to be able to bridge the geographical distance between them and share some new experiences together. Now, Carolynn is discovering the truth….Second Life can be weird!
If you can get them to them to talk about it, Amie and Carolynn will tell horror stories about being forced to wear the same clothes all the time which made them feel like performing chimps. This went on until the summer after 7th grade when Mom picked out an especially putrid polka dot bathing suit for her “muffins” to wear and both Flanagan girls staged a rebellion. After several years of consciously dressing differently (guess which one was the tramp), the twins realized they actually did have the same taste in clothes and started dressing more or less alike again on their own. Ironically, fourteen years or so after their famous (in our family) clothing rebellion, we came to Second Life and usually dress alike here.
And yes, there were some teachers and some boyfriends who might have been confused, but the girls are completely innocent. Honest.
People are constantly amazed when the Flanagan twins complete each other’s sentences and seem to be so totally in sync. For them they’ve sort of gotten used to it.
What’s your favorite food?
Carolynn: Oh, I love chocolate chip cookies.
Amie: it’s definitely pizza…oh and maybe oysters.
Says Amie about their time in SL, “It’s been great so far. I was playing for a couple of months and finally talked Carol into joining, so I ditched my old character and we made us. I love having my sister here, it’s definitely better than e-mail and the phone for keeping connected.”
“I’m a total SL Herald junkie and I talked Carol into posing, and I’d like to thank Marilyn Murphy for giving us the opportunity. Posing nude is a little nerve wracking and I wasn’t sure I could get Carol to do it with me. Even though it’s only ‘a cartoon’ it’s scary to be so out there in public without any clothes!”
Says Carolynn “It’s something Amie wanted, so I did it, just like that time she did a soccer tryout for me in real life.”
The girls have no immediate plans beyond feeding their SLingo obsession, but hope that being Post Sixx Grrls will help them land a virtual career. “I would really like to get into modeling in SL,” laughs Amie. “I think we could be good models, and it would give Carol and I something to do besides slingo and obsess about why our Mom is so obsessive, especially when it comes to Carol’s RL Loser boyfriend.”
“HEY!” said Carolynn, and off they went into the night.

“I’d like to thank Marilyn for this opportunity.” I never understood that and it’s something post 6 girls say ALL THE TIME. “Thanks for the opportunity to have my avatar’s pixel nips on the net. I’m sure great things will come if this”
uh… yeah.
