Second Convention Saturday Fashion Show

Despite my mistake the other day, I attended the Second Convention fashion show on Saturday, and “WOW”, what a knockout. I’m not ashamed to admit it – I’m hooked on fashion shows, and this was the show I was hoping for. Nineteen designers showed as scheduled, on the usualy three-stage venue. I do hate that – I’d rather cam into one area and watch the models revolve around me, due to lag. I suppose I can’t have it all.
This… is where the real talent came into play.
Euterpe Zagoskin, creator of Zagoskin Haute Couture, was first up and some of her stuff was pretty cute, but on the whole I am not a shopper of Zagoskin. If someone would like to convince to be one, I’d be happy to listen.
In the center stage, Emilia Redgrave sent out her models wearing the best of Redgrave – via Paris! I mean, look at the styling on that leather coat! You just can’t get that kind of look using a Wacom. $800L for the particular jacket in the front. Gag me.
Coconut Ice by Andromeda Rain was one of my favorites of the evening. While I’m not the type of gal to get into the “Ohmygawd! Faeries!” clan, I did enjoy this particular set of wings and their delicate whimsy.
Tuli by Tuli Asturias made quite an impression with the “Tuli” teal top and capri combination. Tuli has really pushed out in the recent months, and she’s absolutely amazing.
Back around on the third stage (this entire time I’m having to cam around between stages) Truth by Truth Hawks displayed his newly redesigned line. I suppose I can appreciate the delicate use of Photoshop brushes and various paint shades, but… I’ll save that appreciation for the people at DeviantArt.
Nonetheless, despite my catty remarks I DO enjoy a few of his creations, like this sexy little number. I’m not sure what it is about it. Maybe it’s the half open shirt, or the model, but it just makes this kitty purr.
The display that made me cheer was seeing “Savvy?” by Dakota Buck appear on one of the many stages. I am constantly impressed by Dakota’s work and it never fails to cheer me up when I see someone wearing her outfits. She works tirelessly on new product, and puts a new one out at least once a week. (Plus, every time I say “Savvy?” I get to think about Johnny Depp. Who doesn’t love that?)
Silent Sparrow will be the last designer I share with you in this article, because quite honestly, RL was calling and I had to leave. Hyasynth is such an amazing designer, and she was able to show on two stages – one for women and one for men. She’s humble, too – she tried to hide under her seat when the emcee gave her line compliments. It’s well deserved, Hyasynth!
In all, great show, Second Convention! Caliah Lyon, congratulations on an amazing event! You did it! I’m entirely impressed at the turnaround from the amateur show from Friday evening (which more than one person mistook for the actual Second Convention show) to Saturday’s show. This fashionista is very pleased.

I still puzzle over why girls in Second Life have such huge hips and butts though. It’s not like they need to be built for breeding. It’s strange.

Just like we don’t need: eyes, mouths, ears, noses, arms, legs, torsos, abdomens, skin, hair, or a form of any type? Not like we need to be build for any of that in SL, we could all be floating spheres and run fine.

The huge hips and butts are an SL thing – if you’re wearing a system skirt, you’re going to be pear shaped even if your sliders are set at 0.

Why ask why? It’s Second Life, and people can shape themselves anyway they want. People always throw me off when they question how others choose to shape their avatars. GOSH!

’cause none of em are females in RL, and giving them big butts and hips serves two purposes;
1. it’s good to look at while you’re walking around
2. it’s overcompensation. HAY IM A FEMALE LOOK AT ME LOL

My avatar has the same booty that I posses in First Life. *shrug* Why must we all be stick thin? I like curves.
LL’s gotta fix that system skirt, though. It’s just wrong in so many ways.
