Mercury’s newest design and the conclusion to their summer line: Minnie.

Mercury Couture, Second Life’s newest debuted couture house, held their first show yesterday at 7pm SLT. It went smoothly – and that isn’t counting the less-than-five hours that they had to prepare the show at an entirely new venue. The originally planned place never contacted them back; the show must go on, and it must be moved.

One of the MAD Agency models strikes a pose at the pre-show practice.

MAD Agency came to the rescue. They offered their venue, their models – worked with Mercury every step of the way. Then, it was unveiled – it was their first show. Ever.

They did an excellent job. I was extremely impressed. The venue was very well put together, the models functioned perfectly. The head of MAD Agency pulled the show together with an accuracy and thought to the process that made me wonder if this had really been his first show.

Speaking of impressive, the Whitfield sisters are impressive in their own right. This week they’ve been under fire from a few in the fashion community, and they took it with a grace that only a seasoned fashion guru could.

The beautiful Willa Whitfield… I want their skin. (It puts the lotion on…)

Every outfit from Mercury thus far was presented; their few men’s pieces were put on display. Their men’s line is fairly impressive, and I’m hoping to see more in the future to offset their women’s items. I’ve been finding men’s fashion in Second Life to be rather dull, and one could hope to see some of Mercury’s color schemes make their way onto the men’s end as well.

Opus: Men’s suit, open jacket version.

The one outfit that Mercury designed for women, the one outfit that really set off all the cameras was the Neo-Amelia. This outfit features some awesome yellow leggings and a great sculptie skirt. The yellow aviators really give the outfit a different sort of edge, a more playful thought to it rather than being the severe couture that so many are becoming used to.

The Neo-Amelia

However, my own personal favorite was the Minnie, the outfit that capped off their summer line. The sculptie bow on the back is amazing, and I love the thought of silk shorts with a more casual wifebeater – it takes things to a whole new level.

The Minnie even has some amazing new shoes to match – sculptie tennis shoes!

I’ll be keeping my eye on Mercury Couture. One can only expect great things as time goes on.

*shakes her head* More self-promotion. You would have thought you would have learned to stay far away from Mercury, Tenshi.

Is the outfit Willa Whitfield is wearing in that photo for sale as a part of the Mercury line? It’s GORGEOUS.

I’m afraid the two outfits from the show that you’ve pictured are a little too hoochie for my taste. Very well done hoochie, though.

I’m confused. Either the clothes are much better than these pictures convey(in which case you utterly fail as a photographer) or they are really as crappy and monotone as they look (in which case you utterly fail as a reviewer).

    Which is it?

The clothes are bad. The only reason this is being posted is because Tenshi is directly involved with this, and it’s self promotion. Having been to Mercury, it’s just one more ripoff attempt at Paper Couture. Something Tenshi had no problem attacking others of doing.

Tenshi is pleasant in an article (her possible involvement with the group is minor thing) and you rip her. you rip her review, you rip her photography. If she was mean in her review or expressed her dislike for a certain outfit or the staging etc you would riped her then too. I have seen much worse articles and much worse photography in many herald posts (they appear to be letting the standards slip slowly into a “national enquirer” realm) Just look at some of the ones surrounding this article on the main page.

You people are never happy or satisfied unless you can rip apart someone. And don’t give me she used to be evil and self promoting and still is cause thats bull crap. Even if she is involved with this as much as you claim she would not be the first and will not be the last to do something to help out friends.

That you people cannot let it go and at least give Tenshi a chance for gods sake, makes you not only as bad as she used to be but worse.

Heh – I have a thing for bows (weird I know) but I can’t see the outfit so no idea what it really consists of aside from that.

    Tenshi,

I posted over here, so I’m sure Prok will follow. I think I might seek out sculptie fashion just to see what its like and if it will perform any differently on the grid. Any good sculptie jewelers out there?

Tiffany, “(her possible involvement with the group is minor thing)”

Minor? Her promoting something she’s got a hand in is minor? Her attacking of another designer for copying Paper Couture’s style and then doing the exact same thing?

Then after ‘apologizing’ (She still has a pretty negative comment in her profile about one of the people she wrote about), she continues with the self promotion.

Sorry if I am not impressed.

    Jessica;
Are you baiting me for information? :)
At the present time, I am not aware of anyone who is claiming sculpty jewelry. However – (there’s always a pair of cheeks here at the Herald) – I would highly suggest following this particular designer. They are coming out with some very interesting things – I’ve been able to take a look at them myself, and they are quite spectacular.

And no, that isn’t self promotion… I’d have to get paid for it to be that, and I don’t get paid. I don’t even work on the gorram project.

Actually- I was wearing only part of Crescendo, the top. Those boot pants are part of a fall set called Anndrea, that hasn’t been released yet. Thank you for the kind comments. And as for whoever thinks Mercury is Tenshi’s? Yeah Tenshi helps us out in the blogs I suppose, but frankly I’m a little insulted that you are giving her credit for my and my partners’ work, whether or not you like the work yourself. I’m quite sick of it and I’d bet my hair that Tenshi is sick to death of it. I seem to recall an apology of sorts from Tenshi for past remarks- somehow that went unnoticed while everyone continued to give Tenshi such sour attention. I wash my hands of this blog drama- you should to, disband the Tenshi Hate Club, you are creating an irritating stink around my beloved hobby.

I would like to state that Tenshi’s ‘attack’ on Queen of Couture has nothing to do with Mercury’s PR. I have no idea why she dislikes QoC and not Mercury, go ask her. TENSHI IS NOT IN MERCURY, so she is not “attacking another designer for copying Paper Couture’s style and then doing the exact same thing” She’s not doing anything Couture…

Finally- its not self promotion when you aren’t in the clothing co you are promoting (how is that not clear?). And even then- ppl self promote all the time- its called advetising.

    Willa,

I sympathize with your position. We’d all like for this debacle to have never happened. To be clear, though – the problem is not with the promotion, it’s with Tenshi’s own claim that that kind of “advertising” is wrong. The fact that her words continue to get her into trouble is her own doing. I do agree that it’s unfortunate and maybe unfair that it happens to involve you and your clothing line. At the same time, Evariel should have known better than to send her a review copy while Tenshi was hotly criticizing another previously fashion review site for blogging their own designs.

If those involved had acted with a little more thoughtfulness, maybe this could have been avoided. Unfortunately, it did happen, and if there continues to be fallout you can only blame the ones involved.

The good news is that gossip is just gossip, and we will buy your creations if we like them. From what I can see, I’ll be one many girls rocking those gorgeous shorts.

Well “observer”, who is too ashamed of herself to even give a fake name has no idea what she is talking about it seems based on a lot of the above posts, and she is also quoting stuff that Tenshi did back in bad days like it was yesterday.

As I originally thought some bitter bitter pitiful souls with no life will never stop bashing Tenshi right out of the gate. You have to feel pity for someone who cannot let go – they are truly worse in dong that than Tenshi was on her worst day. Tenshi knows though I am sure from experience that “observer” anonymous type tags on posts mean that they are basically not worth reading.

Oh and don’t think I’m a Tenshi fan yet, its a wait and see thing, but at least I’m willing to actually wait and see. I had many a nasty post to Tenshi back in the dark days – you can look if you want – I used my real name each time, not like some.

  16. Tiffany Wilder

    Aug 11th, 2007

Well, I think Tenshi needs to back off of the things she’s posting about, and post about new, unrelated items. Mercury involves her, and even if it didn’t, when her best friend is ashamed to tell her only because of the negative press it will bring them — well, that’s telling in and of itself. “I’d tell you, but your reputation is so awful, that it could harm business.”

Tenshi’s apology is hollow. Just wait.

  17. Tiffany Wilder

    Aug 11th, 2007

Now see the naughty “observer” or at least that is my prime suspect (if not sorry) went and stole my name, bad bad girl. Now I had to create a type pad account so people will know its me, nice dark blue color now :)

The last post by tiffany (in the Grey) is not the real one, of course you could probably tell as the last post is a pitiful soul not believing in Tenshi, accusatory, can’t drop the bitterness and give her a chance kind of post.

While I think it would be nice to see Tenshi branch out into more things its not my place to tell her so. She has to chose the path that she feels will prove that’s shes changed.

Again I am trying to defend Tenshi and say she has changed her spots. I am taking a wait and see approach so not ruling anything out. I do NOT think her apology is hollow and I hope that time and Tenshi will prove me right.

The real Tiff – see dark blue :)

I beg your pardon; all of you writing under each other’s names in a horrible attempt at slander is very confusing. In any case, Tenshi has not been paid a dime from us, and those of you that choose to attack us before knowing us should be ashamed.

This girl did not blog her own designs. That much is simply put. The PR campaign was mine. I cannot help what Tenshi did after we began passing her items. As for Queen Couture, that cannot be helped either. It was Tenshi’s personal opinion, and since it is over and done with we shall not continue to bring it back up. It is time you stopped playing the blame game and began just letting life continue on. I realize at this point that she is entirely your favorite person to pick on, but you’re all behaving like starving wolves.

If you do not like our items simply do not buy them. We make what we enjoy. That is it.

“Observer”, you plainly have no idea what you are speaking of. Please, next time, keep your thoughts to yourself. I am plenty seasoned in the game of scandal, and you are playing it poorly. I am tired of this already.

    Au revoir, dilusion doux.

By the way, someone asked about sculpted jewelry above. Both Lyra Muse and Ginny Talamasca of Last Call have done beautiful sculpted jewel releases just this week. IM me in world if you’re interested in seeing them on someone before you purchase. You can also see several in my latest blog post.

“When did this become about a 1960′s space program?”

I dunno either. I thought this was about egoists who play with barbies and catfight a lot about pixellated knockoffs of RL clothing.

Can we just get the photosourcers back? They were a lot nicer than this latest wave of juvenile misfits trying to be cool by tearing at each other’s throats in public.
