Cicatrice Oh – Post 6 Grrrrl
by justine on 11/01/08 at 6:23 pm
[Note from Justine. Ladies and Gentlemen, please allow me to introduce to you Cicatrice Oh, one of the nicest people I've met in Second Life, and, as I hope you'll agree from reading her bio, one of the truly great spirits of any world. Without further adieu, I give you this week's Post 6 Grrrl].
Okay, here goes… My name is Cicatrice Oh.
*Cicatrice Oh ducks a rotten tomato*
You wanted a uniquely creative avi; I hope I’m it. I’m one of a small number of African-American female avatars wandering the divine sims of Second Life. I’m a 34-year old California girl looking forward to her first Rez Day this coming spring. For me, Second Life is like playing adult Barbies and I was obsessed with Barbies when I was a little girl!
My name means "scar" in Italian, something I did not know when I chose it. I got it from a character on the 1st life TV show The Riches. Needless to say, it has been the source of many fascinating chat conversations with Italian SLer’s. I wonder if it means something naughty in Italian slang. *gulp* Like my avi, the name is unique and I love that; however, it gets butchered by SL DJ’s. It’s pronounced See-Ka-Treese. My favorite mispronunciation so far is Sack-o-Tricks. WTF?
I’m a proud landowner of an island in the Kilauea island group. If you’ve never visited the sim, stop by, it’s pure paradise; but tip toe around my island or feel the wrath of my Omega security system. Don’t say I didn’t warn your ejected behind. ;o) My cottage is partially underwater and the surrounding sea is full of oceanic wildlife most of which have names. I have a dolphin named Henry, three sea turtles named Larry, Curly and Moe … I have sharks too but I have not named them. That would just be silly.
Second Life has cured me of my 1st life shopoholic affliction. Now I spend less money and get more to show for it. Shoes and jewelry are my weaknesses. I have 49 pairs of shoes and counting. My favorite store for shoes is Minx and LeeZu Baxter’s jewelry is seriously genius. But mostly I love happening upon that out-of-the-way boutique with meticulous designs and intricate textures.
I’m endlessly amazed by the talent and beauty in Second Life. Photographers like my dear friend Jazz Calhern, builders like Julia Hathor of Creative Fantasy, efx designers like Nulflux Negulesco. Every day there is something inventive to see and experience in our infinite utopia. I love the ability to do things in SL that I’m too chicken to do in 1st life like horseback riding, skydiving and deep sea scuba diving. Maybe someday, my virtual escapades will give me the courage to conquer my 1st life fears.
I hang with my Bitch Posse girls Lotta Bikcin and Jensen Shepherd. We are music lovers favoring hip-hop and metal at Urban Underground or Sanctuary Rock. My Chim has the raunchiest dances your prim eyes have ever seen. I have a fantastic, sexy and sensitive boyfriend of five delicious months who keeps me pretty busy but don’t hesitate to IM me especially if you have buildin’ skillz. My New Year’s resolution is to learn to build something I did not steal from the SL library.
I know my bio isn’t wildly imaginative, just more shopping, shoes and shout-outs, right? Hopefully my avi makes up for it?
Be nice, chumps! I have prim Uzi’s and I will rework your no-modify body with ‘em. Seriously though, be nice, I’ll be your beeeeeesssst frieeeeeennnnnd… I have candy… My Mom will send you some L’sssssssssssss…
Happy New Year!

7 out of 10. She seems normal enough.
However, in addition to these Post 6 Grrrl articles, The Herald should continue to seek out residents who have a little more depth. How about a new series concerning artists and musicians? I would rather read about a resident who doesn’t care so much about their avatar. Starax..er Light Waves is commonly seen as a simple ball of light. How about an interview with the man or woman behind all the Rezzable sims. Tens of thousands of US dollars has been spent on their 30 plus sims . Most of those sims seem like giant playgrounds with no visible means of financial support. How about showcasing an SL musician every few weeks, with concert footage? How about a series of articles on simple scripting or building coupled with an interview. Interview some of the well known builders and scripters.. see if they would like to share some tips.

lao-tzu is suggesting news articles concerning accomplished and or famous individuals. these are already done by anyone/everyone with a news blog. including the herald.
i don’t know anymore. the concept behind post sixx was to let the people who are not so well known speak and a bit of tittilation to be sure. it has been pointed out in the past some of the post sixx women went on to be famous and accomplished later. it should be as much for the model as for the reader i think. anyway, i hope post sixx continues to showcase people from anywhere everywhere regardless of their accomplishments in sl.

For what it’s worth… Cicatrice also means scar in French, just not pronounced the same way. Saw you at Sanctuary, Cicatrice, always a very nice and original avatar, congrats.

Sack-O’-Tricks, well, some people are clueless, so consider the source. Nice bio, nice avatar, good positive attitude, not a single whiny self-centered complaint, I give the article a ten out of ten. SL Herald, please interview more people like this nice lady.
“I’m endlessly amazed by the talent and beauty in Second Life.” I am too. Rather than complain about glitches and griefers, it’s refreshing to focus on the positive aspects of our shared experience. It’s nice to meet you, Seek-A-Treese.

Cicatrice (from Latin via French), or more commonly cicatrix (from the same word in Latin), also means scar in English, but it’s not very commonly used.

Oh wow, a black person LL didn’t ban. Guess they got to keep a few token avs on to try and pretend they’re not racists huh?

Lao:
You’re missing the point of post 6,
its to showcase women or men who neglect the fucking shit out of their first life to live in SL as an attractive L.A club slut.
Usually at the expense of their children, husband, hygiene etc..
Also, this is the SLH, nobody who does anything of value talks to them. Thats what Reuters is for

You know, Blak, for someone who’s claimed to spend 10 minutes per week on SL, you seem awfully invested in what other people are doing with their SL lives…

Blak Hax might be harsh, but he makes a valid point. It’s a sad state of affairs when mothers (and fathers) neglect their children to spend endless days and nights dancing in virtual clubs. Think it doesn’t happen? Living in a world of denial.

Point taken, MilosZ, but nowhere does Cicatrice mention if she’s married or has children. Even if she were married and/or had children, that doesn’t mean that she’s neglecting her RL for SL. This article is about someone who came to SL to have some laughs and meet new people, not about those who become addicts and neglect their real lives for their virtual lives.

blak, I hear you, I was talking to someone over voice and their kid was crying and begging them for food or something like that. I shit you not. and she was all like “what do you want? mommy’s busy.”
I shit you not lol.
People need to learn that once you have kids, your freedom, your social life, your fun time. ALL GONE. you have to put on the big people pants.
but anyway, a black skin that doesnt suck or look stereotypical, nice.
