What’s the Gossip about GossipGirl?

The Upper East Side sets the stage for gossip
Residents with the last name of GossipGirl have been popping up around the Grid. Perhaps they showed up for a minute and then vanished, not knowing what to do. Perhaps its an old friend on a new alt. For the most part, they stay on the sims that recreate New York’s Upper East Side. That’s the phenomenon of Gossip Girl.
In visiting the SL version of the Manhattan neighborhood, residents are treated to cars that almost run you over, parks, and various shops that look like Macy’s but feature resident creators like Nicky Ree. Very quickly, residents old and new alike are greeted by members of the Metaversed Mod Squad. These identical women, dressed in black coats and white boots, moderate the sim, watch out for the new residents and host parties and fashion shows. Twig Tomorrow, Mod Squad leader, reported that the Upper East Side sims had a 40% retention rating. Meaning that 40% of the users stayed on the sim. The reason being that the Sim was staffed 24/7 with either Mod Squaders or other members of the development team who went around and interacted with people, like Moogani Gossipgirl, who gave me PJ’s.
Millions of Us created the sim for Warner Brothers and the CW. Besides the build with vehicular traffic and easy to use signs, one of the features is the Gossip Girl mobile HUD. This cell phone device allows you to see who is around you and what the gossip is on them. You are also able to rank a resident on coolness and style and create your own gossip about the resident.
If you go to CWTV.com and head over to the show’s section, there is an application site to visit Gossip Girl in Second Life. Using the website revealed two things; one is that there is no Teen Grid Gossip Girl as the new users need to be over 18. The second was that the site didn’t ask for my name or if I was a previous user of SL.
While this may encourage griefers to seek out the website, at the same time, its interesting as to why the alt question is not being asked. Could there be a special arrangement so that avatars are advertising the corporate property? Questions regarding this arrangement sent to Metaverse Mod Squad and Millions of Us have been unanswered.
Most of the GossipGirls spent time there chatting or going around to the various events. Future plans include bringing Character Avatars from the show to interact with. Take that Dwight, Jim and Pam.

I’d like to see the GossipGirl sims have more than just the usual big name designers! Is there a place for the rest of us to get on the GossipGirl sims?

Sonovabitch! it looks like in the fourth photo showing the HUD, someone has pirated my 41 Pickup and used it to make a garbge truck!! I have to talk to someone. The hobos on the main contenent copied one of the trucks of mine and changed the maps and seel it as their own now… Bums.. all of them dammit..

A fairly bland, texture-heavy, slow rezzing build with nothing particularly special.
Not entirely unexpected.

I second the MMS comment, and beg to differ with Karl. That sim is amazing! The time that Million of Us spent re-creating the show’s hot spots, is truly remarkable.
Last week they even had a live band. My Gosh, it’s getting better everyday! The parties, the shopping, the parties, the friends, the parties. Oy!

I went there out of idle curiosity, knowing nothing about the TV series or the books, and had the strange experience of being told, while wearing a turtleneck sweater and jeans, that my prim breasts made me non-PG, as I stood in a branch of Dragonfly Designs where among the items on sale was a very skimpy outfit–I’m not sure whether the intent was to look like leather or latex–with the model in, among other poses, a BDSM pose.

The GG sims are some of the best in Second Life! Residents and the MMS Mods, totally rock! There are always people to hang out with, and things to do. It is, by far the most fun to be had in any and all Metaverse communities.
