1-8-7 Family Owns Carona Mafia

Another classic Second Life mafia showdown is playing out both inside Second Life and on YouTube. The conflict apparently started in early May when the Carona Mafia issued a video warning that they have been “watching closely” since the Nicholas and Sephora gang wars broke out and plan to strike soon.
Although the video claims, "we know who you latin loving bitches are" and goes on to say “we have found you”, in light of later developments the Carona gang may wish they had not found the 1-8-7 gang.

As for artistic merit, the Herald’s in-house film critic found the soundtrack for the Carona warning video a but overused and stylistically similar to many of the Sepohra gang’s videos. However, the Herald staff did find the use of a television static visual effect a pleasant break from Sephora’s less ambitious black and white design.
1-8-7 Owns Meh
But, all warnings and no conflict make for a dull mob war, so we were pleased to see that the 1-8-7 Family responded to Carona yesterday with “1-8-7 Owns Carona” – a documentary of 1-8-7’s victory dance after taking over a Carona account which owns the mafia’s Second Life group.
The Herald media critics applaud 1-8-7’s use of 720p resolution in their YouTube video and hope more content creators will follow their lead – the high resolution version is ideal for seeing the fine details as the compromised account is edited to maximize the humiliation factor for the victim. Clearly, a new cinematic style combining thug life and video is being pioneered by the gangs of Second Life – a virtual golden age of user-generated content.
As for the mafia conflicts that these films document, it is unclear what may happen next. Will Linden Lab step in to restore order in their walled garden – or at least pick the winners and losers in this resident conflict? Should the Justice League Unlimited take time away from their busy schedule to fight what appears to be an outrageous instance of player vs. player griefing? At this point it appears that Nicholas and 1-8-7 are at the top of the heap, but can they maintain control of their meta-game’s narrative – and continue to evade the Linden ban-hammer?

I haven’t used numbers in my name in years, mostly because idiots started using leetspeak in their names thinking that they were super hackers because they could use cout to output “hello world”, or include a header from a standard c library, or because they could replace their e’s with 3′s and o’s with 0′s,etc..
That said, don’t tell anybody, but numbers in a name are not necessarily any indication of a persons level of skill, and no one with any level of skill at all would be arguing that point. It’s like saying, “your screenname has an “i” in it, and so does “Michael Jackson”, therefore you molest children.” and really makes you look dumb as shit.
My expertise extends far beyond this crap, though if you really want to find out we can just whip our dicks out right here if you like. Nothing invasive, of course (I’m not threatening you with hax). You don’t see people at my level generally engaging in these types of activities, and there is a reason for that. 80% of the “hacking” that I do these days, consists of reading, system administration, experimentation on my own computers, and programming in various programming languages. A large portion of the rest consists of finding bugs in corp networks and reporting them without exploiting them. Why? Because the practice is valuable in that I am able to intimately acquaint myself with various vulnerability classes in the wild. Experience is the best teacher, and neither books nor whitepapers even come close to covering everything.
But this thread isn’t about me, it’s about a fake mafia war.

So, what DO you want to talk about? We can talk about dynamic memory allocation, we can talk about interprocess communication, or raw socket programming in c. We can talk about some php, or the torblocker script I wrote to detect tor nodes and block them using iptables. We can talk about some rfc’s or some file format specifications. We can get into configuring an http server securely. We can talk about bash and shellscripts and GNU utils that come with *nix, job control, bash completion. Hell, I’ve written fully functional bash scripts with functionality that most would have to write in other actual programming languages. Wrote a bash script to use curl and a list of googledorks to perform google queries for dorks with generic patterns matching common server-side script parameters with a high likelihood of being vulnerable to various vulnerability classes (as opposed to dorks for specific bugs in specific software) in a specific user-specified site. It detects dynamic content and quietly discards the useless stuff, then runs OWASP’s Wapiti against the urls for further testing, except it can run multiple instances of it and uses bash’s job control functionality to ensure that the number of processes don’t go above a user specified count. Then it checks the reports generated, and deletes the empty reports. It also detects and discards duplicate urls returned by google. I could easily write a fully functional vuln scanner in bash using fuzzdb, which is just a database of fuzz strings for blackbox testing. I’ve also written an smtp fuzzer in c, which is almost finished. And a multi-threaded automatic web application username enumerator which automatically performs dictionary attacks against each enumerated username, using libcurl and c. Usernames can be enumerated by apache homedirs, forgot password functionality, self registration functionality, and sometimes verbose login error messages (like with WordPress, for example). It can also detect subtle differences in pages returned by the server, which can sometimes be useful for username enumeration when there aren’t any tell-tale verbose error messages.
We can talk about memory corruption. Stack-based overflows, null pointer dereferences, heap overflows. We can talk about structured exception handling, or visual studio’s /gs flag. We can talk about Address Space Layout Randomization, NX, N^X, DEP (not synonymous) or asciiarmor, and ways to defeat most xpms. We can talk about online certificate status protocol, or encryption. We can talk about SeLinux or chroot jail, or virtual machines. We can talk about dozens of operating systems. We can talk about some assembly and *nix syscalls. What you got, big man? We can talk about CSRF or escalating local file includes to code execution via php code injection into server logs, or injecting directly into process tables. We can talk about filter bypasses, common bugs and misconfigurations in web applications and web servers. I can even give you tons or real-world examples that I found myself in the wild.

As one who is a little more technical than the average SL player and one, who on occasion, has been accused of being Deadlycodec (I never have worked this out, we have no similarities I know of) I fail to see why you are even attempting to stand up. I think 07/08 was the first accusation (can’t remember now, not so important).

Herald, as always you never got the other side of the story, 187 never took our MAIN group, infact this group served as a dummy.. My Underboss Atlas Starfall was also the Underboss of 187 although he had no dedication to those foolish retards. DD told Atlas the day before this all happened that if he somehow managed to take down our family group then he would award him with ownership of 187, So of course.. we took the opportunity and created a “Dummy group”. We then filled this group with one or two of our LEGIT members and then the rest were simple alts, But you see… being DD.. Once we gave him the group through Atlas (DD did NOTHING to harm our group) he took this as a Victory and cried out to the world. Believe what you may, but Carona is still running and we’re running well, As for Sephora they are out of the picture as you may have noticed.
