Censoring “Negativity”

Clickable Culture is reporting the latest in the worldwide parade of game company “let’s silence our critics” brain farts. This time it is MindArk‘s Project Entopia, which now has a clause in its terms of service stating that…
“‘You cannot spread any rumors about MindArk, Project Entropia, and MindArk Staff or Partners, that can be considered potentially damaging, using Project Entropia, IRC or any other public forums, for example a web space…. The reason for this addition is to avoid malicious individuals to spread unfounded rumors with the intent to fuel discontent and trying to stir up negativity and bad will against Project Entropia and MindArk.”
You can’t make this shit up! Meanwhile, on the selectively censored SL Forums, the new MindArk policy gets a nod of approval from FIC groupie Cienna SamIAm, who notes that it could be quite useful in banning yours truly from the game:
“Considering the trash and rumor-mongering often presented as ‘fact’ by Sklar, I’d consider [Uri's account getting banned] a good thing.”
Been there, done that. But by all means try it, and then call and let me know how it worked out for you. P.S. I understand there is now a studly new bald avatar roaming in Project Entropia!

Thanks pendari <3
:O Good lord Prok!! Seriously your fixation on me can’t be healthy. While so many of your critics have been BY FAR more vocal, direct, vicious, and prolific in posting than I have, you still have ME as public enemy #1. Your readers are going to think you are playing favorites you know.
But if I am to play such a prominent on your blog you should send me a quick e-mail and I can send you a press kit with promotional photos. I would also love to pass along free promotional items such as the I <3 Aimee T-Shirt (in Lime Green) and the Aimee Bear.

Hi Aimee! Welcome back to the fray! It’s gotten pretty weird in your absence, hasn’t it? Crack that FIC whip a bit, wouldja?

OMG! It’s a mob mentality! I R GANGED UP ON!
Poor me!
Tony, thats right, don’t address any of the points I made, just be your dismissive self.
Seldon, why are you so concerned about my personal info? Why are all of you?
And seldon, professional protesters usually protest to bring attention to themselves and for bragging rights, not the actual causes. The modern equivalent is paid activists.

Um, Aimee, we welcome reader comments, but we do respectfully request that they at least stay somewhere near the topic of the article they’re associated with. Wouldn’t you be better off posting that last comment on Prok’s blog?
Not that we’re going to ban you or anything ; -)

nowhere did I mention professional, only veteran, which implies exclusively experience, not some paid name brought in to rally a cause. Who cares what they are, anyways. Your point was that our elders would be ashamed of us. I can say with certainty that mine are proud of me.
as far personal info, I mentioned it for two reasons.
1) you obviously went through my public profile for “ammunition”
2)you discussed people acting differently because of assumed personas.
To do these things without disclosing even your in-game name seems more than a little hypocritical, regrdless of your reasons.

Uri, take a look at how many times I’ve posted to the Herald. I’m sure it’s under a dozen in total. I’d hardly call that a campaign of disruption, but all it takes is an FIC label and suddenly I’m a mob! I’m a cabal! It’s a conspiracy I tell ya!
I have nothing against you Uri, but I can’t help but notice that the Herald seems to be conspiracy theory central these days. Everything has this paranoid “the uber players are out to get us” vibe. I’ve never met you… never spoken to you in person… never traded words with you until today, but I’m part of the IRC FIC “gang of thugs”? You’ve been listening to Prok too much and you’re leaking credibility like a sieve.
There is so much cool stuff in SL… so much amazing creativity to revel in and enjoy… and yet day after day you cover all this “OMG We’re All Doomed!(tm)” and “Someone’s Doing Stuff We Don’t Like. Oh noes!” and “Prokofy Neva Was Framed(tm)” stuff. Seriously, if you’re not being completely manipulated by a few people feeding you all this paranoid nonsense, then what gives?
The FIC doesn’t exist. It never did. It lives on only as a parody of Prok’s paranoid verbosity. You write about it like there’s actually this organized group of people out to trample the little guy underfoot. You do realize that’s utter bullshit, right?
Let’s take a look at the headlines on the front page right now shall we?
“Prok/FIC Wars Lead to New Forum Policies”
“FICtory Dance”
“Editorial: Sympathy for Prokofy Neva”
“Anniversary CelebraFICation Leads to Coco’s Party Protest”
““All on the Same Page”: IRC Chat Logs Support Linden/FIC
Conspiracy vs Prok”
“Censoring “Negativity””
“Cory Disavows FIC, then throws it $17K in Business”
I suppose anyone who’d dare comment that the above list is embarassing and a disservice to your readers must be an “FIC thug.” *rolls eyes*
