Is Granny Celestie Hanging up her Robe and Slippers?

Having been stabbed in the back by her scammer friend Isabella (now Viva T), Granny Cellestie has retired from her abusive granny schtick and recreated as Ms Barbara Walters, making her first appearance in Alphaville on the Oprah Winfrey Show. In this interview she talks about her career as an abusive granny and the odd fact that she didn’t play a griefer in other MMORPGs that she plays. She talks about the role that Evangeline played in the griefer community, and the notion that griefers are a flavor of power gamers in TSO. And just maybe she will stick around and become a virtual telejournalist.

Urizenus: So what’s this about you leaving tso?
Granny Celestie: It’s time to hang up my robe and slippers. You could say it’s partly Viva T’s fault.
Urizenus: what, you’re going to let Isabella/Viva T chase you out of the game?
Granny Celestie: To me, I let the relationship become like a true friendship.
Granny Celestie: I became friends with Viva when I was a roomie at FMFN (Free Money for Newbies).
Granny Celestie: The thought of her using me never entered my mind, because I had nothing for her to try to use me for.
Urizenus: ok
Granny Celestie: I was poor at the time
Urizenus: so I guess my question is, why would you become friends with Isa — s/he seems like a nasty piece of work.
Granny Celestie: Well, I saw someone really funny and somewhat like me, or so I thought at the time.
Granny Celestie: We would go out and bug people for laughs.
Granny Celestie: I had some of my biggest laughs with Viva T
Urizenus: ok, so you had a falling out with one person, but why leave the game
Granny Celestie: That was the only friend that I had that knew more about FMFN than I did.
Granny Celestie: Someone older, more experienced.
Urizenus: how old is Isa?
Granny Celestie: S(he) just turned 18.
Urizenus: lol
Granny Celestie: I think that’s how people of his kind like to be referred to.
Granny Celestie: LoL

Urizenus: I still don’ get why you want to leave.
Urizenus: I would think with Van on the sidelines now would be your chance to shine
Granny Celestie: Janette, the Bradleys, Lucianna, Viva T, ect. (Although I may be happy for some of them) I don’t have the money to compete with them.
Granny Celestie: Now that Viva took it all
Granny Celestie: You know, I never understood how I got all that money.
Granny Celestie: It just started coming.
Granny Celestie: People get smarter.
Urizenus: so where did it come from?
Granny Celestie: I don’t know,
Granny Celestie: I honestly don’t.
Granny Celestie: I’ve never been that good of a scammer.
Granny Celestie: I was good and all it’s just, I never did too often like everyone thought.
Urizenus: so did Van and Isa give you the bucks?
Granny Celestie: No
Granny Celestie: Isa wouldn’t, Van wouldn’t. I wouldn’t give them anything either.
Granny Celestie: If I did I would give little.
Urizenus: so money just showed up in your account?
Granny Celestie: Yes, just showed up
Urizenus: hmmm
Granny Celestie: slowly
Granny Celestie: Like from vistor hours, ect.
Urizenus: right
Urizenus: so move into another scam house
Granny Celestie: It’s so much to compette with and it’s been killed….
Granny Celestie: I tried to be Barba Walters the good citisim but I can’t separate the two egos.
Urizenus: well you only tried being good for a couple days
Granny Celestie: Well, I had to come clean with people and it’s hard to do when people continue to tag you for what you did to them months ago.
Urizenus: yes, I suppose, but tags don’ last forever
Granny Celestie: Yeah
Granny Celestie: I’m dripping with Creativity, Uri, I really am!
Urizenus: so explain what you mean when you say that the two egos didn’t go together
Granny Celestie: It’s so hard when all the money is gone.
Granny Celestie: Well, when I try to be nice celestie pops out
Urizenus: and this only happens in game, right?
Urizenus: or does celestie pop out in r/l too?
Granny Celestie: Only in game
Urizenus: you played any other MMORPGs?
Granny Celestie: Worlds, OW, There
Urizenus: does this happen in those games too, or only in tso?
Granny Celestie: Only in tso, I can’t afford multipule accounts so I have to alternate depending on my mood
Granny Celestie: I was good on all of them but There and TSO
Urizenus: why do you think celestie doesn’t pop out in those other worlds? and what is it about tso that brought this character to life here?
Granny Celestie: Like all the other roomies, Van made it seem so fun.
Granny Celestie: And It is
Urizenus: so it isn’t fun without van and the others?
Granny Celestie: but sometimes, when I insult I don’t mean to offend them. It’s all in play
Granny Celestie: Play along people
Granny Celestie: I miss van
Granny Celestie: Viva loves him so much
Granny Celestie: I think that’s the only person she likes as much as he(r) self.
Urizenus: Well, what I’m trying to understand is whether your abusive granny character was just induced by people who happened to be here or by the design of tso itself.
Granny Celestie: I wanted to be a Granny because everyone is supposed to have an understood respect for them
Granny Celestie: If I was abusive or not

Urizenus: well, what do you think made her abusive here?
Granny Celestie: Van
Urizenus: oh ok, so you think it was Van’s influence
Granny Celestie: Yes
Urizenus: Do you think Van influenced a lot of other griefers here?
Granny Celestie: Yes
Granny Celestie: everyone
Urizenus: So why did everyone like Van so much?
Urizenus: What was the attraction?
Granny Celestie: Because he made us feel like we were important
Urizenus: how so?
Granny Celestie: He was our Guru
Urizenus: van was your Guru, but why did you consider him a successful power gamer when you could have easily thought of him as a big time loser
Granny Celestie: I don’t understand
Urizenus: well did you think of him as a kind of power gamer — as successful in tso?
Granny Celestie: He was successful at what he did
Urizenus: so did you ever think of the free money house as a kind of guild like they have in other games. EQ for example.
Granny Celestie: Guild?
Granny Celestie: How so?
Urizenus: yah like a clan that goes out and fights dragons and scores gold in other games, but acquires wealth in other ways in tso
Granny Celestie: I think it’s harder to get money here so you have to be as creative as possible. That can mean being a scam artist which he truly was.
Urizenus: so then do you think you guys were just power gamers trying to get simoleans and a high property ranking, or would you say that you were more just here to disrupt the game. That is, were you playing the game in your own way or disrupting the game.
Granny Celestie: Both, I want attention and I want to be successful in doing that so I can get money and everyone will be jealous of me.
Urizenus: would you stay in the game if you had enough money?
Urizenus: or enough to get back on your feet?
Granny Celestie: Yes
Granny Celestie: If I had a size 8 and enough to build a house like I used to have
Granny Celestie: and all the objects in it
Urizenus: you don’t have $40 to go on ebay and get it?
Granny Celestie: I don’t want to waste money
Granny Celestie: My family is poor now because my dad left and took everything

Granny Celestie: I want everyone to know that in the 8-10 grade my life fell apart because my dad left our family for his mistress
Granny Celestie: if i loose it all somehow then i waste 40 dollars
Urizenus: but don’t you have to pay $10 a month to stay in the game?
Granny Celestie: I have 10 dollars a month yes
Granny Celestie: I play it all the time so yes
Granny Celestie: I talked to Viva about my problems irl and she said that she was laughing at me the whole time irl
