Fannie Carter — Post 6 Grrrrrl

by Alphaville Herald on 26/08/10 at 11:22 am

[Fannie Carter originally posed for Post 6 in September of 2007, and I leapt at the chance to feature her again when she introduced herself the other day. Based on a very limited sample, I have to agree with original photographer Justine Babii’s assessment that Fannie is “scary smart” as she kept me on my verbal toes throughout her photoshoot with scintillating conversation. It is an honor and a privilege to introduce a fascinating woman, Fannie Carter. ~Timothy Morpork]

Fannie Carter

Hello Everyone,

It has been three years since I last appeared here, and I really can’t believe it. Time sure flies when you’re logged in! Truly, I find that Second Life is an interesting beast when it comes to time- an hour’s conversation on SL seems like something that would last far longer in 1st Life- kind of the virtual equivalent of dreaming, where a dream that seems to go on for years is really over in a matter of seconds, realtime. They should make a movie that deals with this phenomenon, maybe add some explosions, crumbling dreamscapes and Leo diCaprio. Could be a hit? 

Stream of consciousness babble about summer movies and this lady’s perception of time in virtualspace aside, it is a great pleasure to pose here again. I was a Herald junky from the time Justine Babii introduced me to it. I love Timothy’s work as much as I love all the rude comments he draws, so to be part of the fun is a thrill.

I don’t do anything phenomenal in Second Life. I have been a blogger, I have done a few builds, I have designed clothing lines, but at present I just hang out. I think the Lindens have discovered that this is what people like about Second Life- hanging out, which bespeaks the switch back to Philip’s leadership? Please feel free to discuss.

That’s not to say it’s not up to being used for greater things. Second Life- our imaginations drive the car, so if your car wants to get the word out about raising money for cancer research or to grow a positive idea, I’m all for it- I’m just saying that now, at my age and place in life, I think it’s nice to have a “game” where I don’t have to be stressed that I’ll be eaten by an ogre or feel that I have to save the world with some noble cause. It’s nice to hang out.

As I think I mentioned, this isn’t my first Post 6 rodeo, so I’ve felt ok with leaving out the details as I think I hit the high spots back the first time. If there’s more you want to know, give a holler. Thanks to all of you for being so entertaining with your comments, and I hope you like these pictures as much as I do. Thanks Timothy for having me back!

Not bad not bad, would like to see her shot with a different photog though. I have seen better pics in xstreet advertisments. She gets a Sammi-8 (only a true god or godess will get a 10, that or someone so orignal it hurts.)

Oh look, yet another old model being repeated.

Twelbty billion gajillion people to choose from and we keep getting the same few over and over.

When will this cycle of moribundity end?

i like her, she’s pretty with classy clothes and seems to be on the ball. so this is good.

the herald has been on a roll lately with all the emerald stuff. maybe its just that not enough real stuff happens, i don’t know, but decent pictures and articles about actual things of interest (like trouble with emerald, and *not* idiotic hillbilly crap) is amusing and useful.

i hope it keeps up. i’m not holding my breath, lol.

So…. at present Fanny “just hang(s) out.
Also, “at her age and place in life … it’s nice to hang out”.
In Fannie’s opinion, “what people like about Second Life- hanging out”.

The knowledge of Fannie thinking her SL is worthy of a movie starring Leo DiCaprio is beyond laughable. Reading her blog and buying her clothes is not phenomenal; after all, she admitted, “I don’t do anything phenomenal in Second Life.”

30,000 to 55,000 people logged into a virtual world that never sleeps and this all we get? And a repeat at that.

Timothy, how can this in any way be an honor and a privilege?

    @Jessica

Shut up Donnie, you’re out of your element.

-I think that she was saying that SL works better as a social platform than a platform for corporations, which the Lindens were showing their agreement with by getting rid of business wonk M Linden and replacing him with good-time Philip Linden.

-I don’t think she was seriously saying anyone will make a Leonardo DeCaprio film about SL, I think she’s making reference to the fact that time in the virtual world seems different than time in the real world, which is also figures into the ginormous summer hit Inception, featuring Leonardo DeCaprio.

But by all means, please keep commenting, I love hearing from stupid people with attitude.

I want to strip the model and steal her clothes! I love the outfit in the first picture. Really a great hat. Donna Flora?
The vacation must have been refreshing for Timothy. I keep looking at the first picture again and again, love the outfit , the model, the pose and the treatment. I never thought Timothy was a good photographer, but he sure proves me wrong here.

I like the first picture. It really stands out against that stark background. All in all, this was a cute shoot, and a nice enough write up.

But then, anything’s an improvement over the Midian chicks.

And yet, I have to agree with other posters that it’s a shame with the population of SL that Tim felt the need for a rerun. But being that it’s his first week back, I’ll give him a pass.

Stylish, articulate . . . and not from Midian!! (YAY!)

The second pic looks a bit run-of-the-mill Post 6, but the first one is lovely (gorgeous clothes!) and the third is at least a bit different, and interesting.

However, what others have said here — there do seem to have been an excessive number of “reruns” here of late. How hard are you looking for new, interesting, and stylish people, Timothy?

Beautiful, and where did she get that gorgeous outfit in the first photo? Guess I’m not a hard core reader; I didn’t see her previous appearance.

I think that reading for comprehension would show that she did not talk about a movie about _her_ SL… and we all have pet phrases; at worst neither she nor the editors at the Herald caught it.

P.S. In a way it’s nice to have some models revisited; it shows how they’ve changed their look and how SL skins, graphics, and the like have improved.

Thank you for all the nice comments!

To answer your questions, I believe that the hats are from Hat Pins and the clothes are by Ivalde. It was a pleasure to pose for you all, special thanks to Timothy for letting me and for the wonderful pix!
