Richardson wins primary

by Alphaville Herald on 14/03/04 at 8:42 am

Ashley Richardson and her running mate Loxee have won the primary election for President of The Alphaville Government, and will face Mr-President in an April 10 general election. Final election tally was 223 votes for Richardson/Loxee and 138 votes for their opponents Seth Galloway and Marcus Forlourne. Commentators have suggested that Galloway was still a bit green and perhaps a year away from being a viable candidate for president. Others have suggested that Richardson may have scored with her strong anti-scammer platfrom (although rumors continue to circulate that she has past connections with many of Alphaville’s more notorious scammers). Meanwhile, questions continue to be raised about the relation between Mr-President and the sim “banker” Dre Jeffries. Should be an interesting election!

Am I the only person in the Maxisverse who finds this absolutely ludicrous: “election tally was 223 votes for Richardson/Loxee and 138 votes for their opponents Seth Galloway and Marcus Forlourne”.

There are supposedly at least 1000 or 10000 people in AV. Many are small-holders, i.e. at least with some property. How could anything in which less than 500 players take part have any validity? Most countries IRL require at least 50 percent of the residents to vote to declare an election valid. How did you even start with voting records? A census?

It’s because of silliness like this that a group of us have simply decided to declare our loyalty to the Emperor Cornelius and the Empress Chrestomancy, newly wedded. May they live long and prosper!

Eminence, perhaps you should just think of this as a guild election with an open ballot. As Mr-President has stressed, this is an election for the presidency of The Alphaville Government, not the Presidency of Alphaville.

Would that Emperor Cornelius had the courage to submit *him*-self to the democratic vote of his minions. Same with the Empress.

I’ve always stated that I am the elected President of the Alphaville Government. The elections are for the Alphaville Government.

Silliness Mr. Grise? Since when did role-playing, attempting to improve the online community, and giving sims of Alphaville something else to do, other than working in the robot factory or skilling, become silliness? While we’re at it.. Since when could holding an election to see who would take my position as President of the AVG be deemed ‘silly’ to someone who declares their loyalty to a self-appointed Emporer? (No offense to Emporer Vanderbilt, he is a good friend and I support him 100%)

Also, getting 361 sims together (up from the previous week’s 213) for a common purpose is not exactly an easy task. When’s the last time 361 sims got together for ANYthing?

Another thing, the relationship between Dre Jeffries and I are based on improving each others organizations. There was no evidence against Mr. Jeffries that would make me deny a business relationship with him, and to my knowledge, there still isn’t any.

Mr-President, Agree with everything up to the discussion of Dre Jeffries. You say “no evidence against Mr. Jeffries that would make me deny a business relationship with him, and to my knowledge, there still isn’t any”. Well then perhaps you can tell me when Mr. Jeffries will return the 500K I deposited in his “bank” at 5% interest weekly? He’s been ducking me for months, while that interest keeps adding up. Or not. Question is, Mr-President, are you a bit too cozy with a scammer? Or is this just someone who is disorganized and fully intends to give me my money back ASAP????

I sincerely hope it is the latter. And I also hope you haven’t been duck hunting with Mr. Jeffries.

Any claim dating before January 27th, 2004- the AVG can’t guarantee. Claims made against First Sims Bank after January 27th, 2004- the AVG does guarantee 100% if we made the referral.

Uri, I’ll try to get in contact with Mr. Jeffries, I haven’t heard from him in a while. In fact, if I don’t hear from him by next Friday (March 26), I’m pulling the plug on our partnership.

I’m not asking the AVG to guarantee my deposit. I’m simply pointing out that this guy appears to have scammed me out of my original deposit of 500K, not to mention the promised interest which would be significant — probably another million (I haven’t done the math yet). The issue for the AVG is one of appearances at a minimum, and possibly more than that if you can’t cover whatever money has been scammed (if it has) since Jan. 27. I’m not tyring to make a big thing out of this yet. If I wanted to do that I would write a fresh blog entry on this topic.
