Editorial: If Lindens won’t help, then Land Owners Unite!

It is easy to say that the recent sim demolitions were the land owners fault, but I look at it from a slightly different perspective, because I am a land owner. If Linden Labs provided the necessary tools for land owners to properly secure our land, then I could see some validity in statements that it was entirely our fault. But…

Banning someone from private land still allows someone to hover over your land for an indefinite amount of time, enough time to drop numerous lag bombs, and make your life a living hell. Banning a player from private land should prevent any entry into that land before the teleport even takes place. It should block any and all teleports into the land, whether it is from the mini map, landmark, or personal teleport from an accomplice.

Concerning editing of land, Linden Labs really needs to reevaluate the tools provided. Once a parcel of land is set to allow terraforming, anyone can mess up your builds, especially if your back is turned, even if it’s for only 5 seconds. That’s not the land owners fault. It is the quality of the tools provided. Land owners need an option added to the tools that allow us to specify WHO is allowed to terraform.

Simply stated, visiting someone’s land is a privilege, and not a right endowed by the ownership of a resident account. Land owners should be able to restrict access to anyone not following the land owners rules. If Linden Labs don’t have the time or the manpower to keep policing the population, then at least provide the land owners proper tools to police it on their own!

This is NOT a private sim owner issue, but a global issue that requires the attention of Linden Labs.

It is my understanding that the person responsible for the damage to the private sims was not banned, but only suspended? If that is the case, then I can only think of one solution to solve the problem that Linden Labs cannot.

It is time that this community pulls together and sends a message to any and all resident’s hell bent on making our lives miserable. It is time to create a global ban list and enforce it to its fullest extent. How long will a problem resident last when there is absolutely no place to go and cause problems? Not very long#

From this moment on, please send me your personal village idiot list, and I will gladly add their names to my list of banned residents. It is well within every land owners right to finally put an end to this type of behavior.

Who is going to be first on the list? I have a pretty good idea already…
