SL Political Correctness Standards Updated

Well, we?ve got new Community Standards (aka Political Correctness Standards). First thing I noticed is that there are some new rules which appear to be inspired by the Second Jessie War and the lag bombing of Jessie by One Song and the lag bombing and sim crashing of the Baku sim by the TechSols and the WWIIOLers that occurred in the aftermath ? these activities are now called ?Global Attacks? (they may as well have called it the One Song Rule). As for the rest of the standards, they look more than a little like political correctness run amuck. Will the new standards make for better gaming or are they simply tools to give Linden?s more pretexts for bitchsmackin? and bannin??

Following are the new Standards and my commentary (in square brackets).

The Second Life Community Standards document has been updated. While the spirit of the Standards has not changed, we’ve added a section called “Global Attacks” and have reworded other sections in an effort to add clarity and specifics. We ask that you read the Standards and use them to guide your actions in Second Life and related communities such as the Second Life Forums.

Second Life: Community Standards
================================

Welcome to Second Life. We hope you’ll have a richly rewarding experience, filled with creativity, self expression and fun. The goals of the Community Standards are simple: treat each other with respect and without harassment, adhere to local standards as indicated by simulator ratings, and refrain from any hate activity which slurs a real-world individual or real-world community.

Behavioral Guidelines – The “Big Six”
=====================================
Within Second Life, we want to support Residents in shaping their specific experiences and making their own choices. The Community Standards sets out six behaviors, the “Big Six”, that will result in suspension or, with repeated violations, expulsion from the Second Life Community. All Second Life Community Standards apply to all areas of Second Life, the Second Life Forums, and the Second Life Website.
