Herald Announces New Editorial Board

by Alphaville Herald on 06/01/05 at 7:43 pm

I’m pleased to announce that the Herald has established an editorial board, allowing me more time to chill on the Herald Yacht and at the Herald Mansion in Florida. Volunteering to head up the board as Editorial Director is SL resident Walker Spaight. Reporting to him will be the new managing editor, Matthias Zander.

In r/l Walker Spaight has published in The New Yorker, New York Times Magazine, Harpers, GQ, salon.com, The Financial Times, The Times of London, among others, and has covered the Federal Reserve, the World Bank, and Wall Street at various times. His real life gigs have included stints as contributing editor, managing editor, and desk editor for various publications. IM him in game if you are interested in reading some of his work.

It is our hope that Walker will be able to bring his extensive experience in economic reporting to the study of virtual game economies, and will use his editorial experience to guide the Herald through the next couple years of development, as well as assist in the training and development of our new Managing Editor, Matthias Zander.

Speaking of Matthias, some of you already know him from the club scene and the modeling scene in SL. In r/l he’s a student at RIT, and has more energy than 10 Uri’s combined. Joining Walker and Matthias on the editorial staff will be David Jacobs, who we are going to tap for services as the Sports Desk Editor, reporting to Matthias. He will be responsible for covering virtual competitions in the game.

In addition to this editorial staff we will continue to expect great things from our contributors, including the following current contributors:

Kale (founding editor, legal)
Squirrel (founding editor, critic at large)
Mr. Fairplay (mafia, global attacks, Linden politics – Mr. Fairplay is also Vice President for Herald Security)
Miravoir Psaltry (fashion, toys, and drama)
Gina Fatale (mafia and drama)
Father Callahan (TSO, Stratics, random drama)
Humdog (random poetic violence)
The Phantom (Stratics, gold farming)
Pat the Rat (drama, drama, drama)
The Teflon Don (mafias and user based governments)

It will part of the charter of the editorial staff to bring on new reporters. If you are interested in working for the Herald either contact Walker or Matthias. If you want to be a sports reporter contact David. If you are interested in advertising in the Herald contact Walker or Matthias. Whatever you do, don’t bother me. I’ll be on my yacht sippin’ Cristal.

Peace

–Uri
