Uri’s Predictions
by Alphaville Herald on 05/01/05 at 7:19 pm
Early in 2004, Cory Ondrejka (Linden) made some predictions which he recently graded in Terra Nova. Well, I guess you could call those predictions. But step aside son, and witness some true prognostication!
Uri predicts that by the end of 2005…
1) Either Robin or Cory will quit Linden Lab.
2) EA will pull the plug on TSO.
3) A child predator will contact a child in a MMORPG and arrange a meeting out of game, but will be caught. A wider pattern of this activity will come to be suspected.
4) Second Life will reach subscriptions of 50K users and the down time will be 5 times worse than it already is. But for the technical difficulties it would otherwise top 100K (yes, this is a counterfactual prediction).
5) EA will spend more than 1 billion dollars in cash and cash equivalents for the purchase of competitors (not counting their use of debt and stock swaps to acquire competitors).
6) I will be suspended for one week for any reason or no reason.
7) Phillip will find another 5 million in financial support.
There will be a global attack in SL that knocks out every sim on the mainland grid.
9) At least one private sim in SL will endure a terraforming attack.
10) Open source gaming will NOT take off. That will have to wait until 2006.

Half of Tso players at one time said Tso was going to end in 2004..*Looks at date*Hmm 1/5/05..That shows Tso survived another year of drawbacks lol..Though Uri im hoping your 9 of 10 correct and not correct about number 2 but your probably right..

I don’t recall people saying it will be plugged in 2004? Maybe like a long time ago. But the recent activity has begged to differ. I have always thought and will always think the date will be 1/1/2006

Yah, I never heard a prediction that it would end in 2004, but I have heard predictions that they would pull the plug after the first of the year.

Jerry Paffendorf has added his own predictions here.
Meanwhile, back on Terra Nova, Cory has ducked my bet! tsk tsk.
