Free Herald Ads for Educators
by Alphaville Herald on 20/04/05 at 10:58 pm
The Second Life Herald is happy to announce that we are now offering free advertisements to educators in the pages of the Grid’s most widely read publication. Submit your educational events now!
Once each week, the Herald will post one ad alerting residents to an event that is educational in nature. If you are adept at building, scripting, texturing, designing or otherwise getting around in Second Life and you want to share this information with the rest of the Grid, submit an ad to the Herald for consideration.
Ads must be submitted by Thursdays at noon game-time, for events to take place on or before midnight of the following Friday (i.e, eight days later). Ads will be posted Friday mornings in the main thread of the Herald. Email Walker Spaight at walkering [at] gmail [dot] com to submit your ad.
Please note that selection of advertisements will be at the sole discretion of the Herald. We will try to maintain a rotation of different types of events, but we cannot guarantee that your event will see print. Priority will be given to events we feel will enhance residents’ experience of the Grid, help them contribute to the shared culture of Second Life and make the world a more enjoyable place for all. Because of the volume of responses we anticipate, we cannot promise to respond to your ad one way or another. Please check the Herald Friday afternoons to see what we’ve chosen.
Ad specifications:
You may submit a description of up to 60 words for the front page, and up to 100 additional words for the “more” page of your post.
If you submit an image, it must be no more than 400 pixels wide. The image will be placed on the “more” page.
You may include one link to a Web site or in-world location. Links to commercial sites or locations will not be included, and no advertisements for commercial enterprises will be accepted, nor will we accept any advertisements that include incentives for attendance (e.g., “free money for newbies,” etc.). The knowledge you’re providing should be its own incentive.
Each ad must include the following information:
A brief title for the event
Date and time of the event (including day of the week)
SL location of the event
Your SL name, and the name of the event moderator, if different
A description of the event as explained above
Ads will be posted by around noon on Fridays. Only one ad will posted per week. We apologize in advance if we do not publish your ad.
We hope to hear from you.
Sincerely,
Walker Spaight
