Write for the Second Life Herald! – Please!

The Second Life Herald needs writers!

With the fast pace of news developing on the Grid, Second Life’s most widely read news source is looking to expand its coverage by hiring one or two reporters and a number of freelancers (and possibly an editor) to cover in-world events, economics, sights, sounds and even scandals. If you love Second Life, like getting out into the virtual world, and can write at least competently about what you see and encounter, then please get in touch. We need you to cover what’s happening in-world, whether it’s a new build, a new sim, the latest property price fluctuation or a lover’s spat that’s grown into a mafia war, we want to know what’s happening–and we’ll even pay you for it.

Applications guidelines:

1. Read the Second Life Herald. Get a feel for what we like to cover. We’re not all about drahma, despite occasional appearances (though we do enjoy reading about the spice of online life, don’t get me wrong).

2. Decide what you want to write for us. Come up with two story ideas you can describe in a sentence or less.

3. Make sure your story ideas do not include “What it’s like to be a newbie in Second Life” or “Avatar X has done me wrong and I’m gonna get him back with my new mafia.”

4. Email your interest in covering the Grid to Editorial Director Walker Spaight at walkering@gmail.com. Include your SL name and two story ideas. Do not send completed stories.

5. I’ll get back to you. If we like your idea(s), we’ll ask you to write something up. If we publish it, we’ll pay you L$250 and up, sometimes as much as L$1,000 if you’re really on your game. If we don’t publish it, we’ll pay you a L$100-L$150 kill fee.

We hope to hear from you.
