Fashion Show Review: Retro Girl

Tonight, I attended a “fashion show” at a new place called the “cyldane restaurant.” Calling this a fashion show is a complete and total affront to the fashion industry in SecondLife. This wasn’t a fashion show – this was having 6 outfits walk around a square without posing. The entire thing lasted less than 15 minutes, and started 15 minutes late!

The designs, as we found out at the end were from Keara Morgan, were actually semi-decent in part. Most of the seams matched, which is great! Unfortunately, the stockings had no top and were not semi-transparent, so they looked like grey legs. We never received any outfit names, which makes it hard to review specific outfits. The models also came in quick succession, and then did a final pose on the staircase at the front of the room.

In the end, this is the worst excuse for a fashion show that I have ever witnessed. The building textures were distracting, the number of active scripts in the sim were lagging the entire sim to hell, and the models were quite obviously doing their best industrial-strength Hoover impression. These girls need LOTS more training, an actual host, and a runway before they should even consider another fashion “show.”

Having been at the show myself, I can tell you that I’m scarred for life. Chipsen, you’re being too kind to these people! The first warning sign for me was that when I walked in and sat down, I was handed a “menu” – with the cheapest item at $L150! Anyway, this was absolutely horrid. 6 models, 6 outfits, the so-called fashion show from hell.
