Skin Review: Kathmandu Gilman

Continuing with the Herald’s series of skin reviews, I recently purchased Kathmandu Gillman’s white tiger skin, along with female accessories, in order to review it. I am not a furry, and have never desired to be a furry, but Kathmandu is well-known for his realistic furry skins, one of the ones I have peronsally seen the most being the white tiger. The prices of some of these pieces may shock you just as much as they did me when I first saw them in Kathmandu’s shop-at-home catalogue.

Let me begin by giving you a shopping list of what I purchased from Kathmandu and can be seen in these pictures:
White tiger skin (includes matching ears and tail), $L400
White tiger female muzzle, $L100
Variable color pubic patch (includes two versions, one smaller than the other; large version showin in pictures), $L100
Light female nipples, $L50

All-in-all, that brings the total for this skin, including muzzle and “naughty bits” to $L650, which certainly is not bad at all for a skin.

From the front, this skin looks pretty nice, though the nipples do stick out quite a bit. I’m not personally a fan of them at all, but I suppose you get what you pay for when you spend $L50 on nipples. The pubic patch, on the other hand, does blend in nicely when tinted to a black from the lime it begain as. The skin itself does look remarkably realistic, as does the muzzle (a better view of the muzzle can be seen in the first picture shown at the top.

From the left side, the seams of the skin become very apparent because of the unmatched stripes. The right side is better, though it still is not perfect. Once again, I suppose you get what you pay for, with $L400 not buying you a perfect skin in the least. The tail certainly has a problems with mis-matched textures, as do the ears with the wrong face of a prim being textured, but once again, as they was free with the skin, you get what you pay for.

For the price that I paid for this skin, it certainly was reasonably well-done, though there is certainly room for improvement. $L650 is not much at all to pay for a skin, furry or human, which is the only reason this skin gets so much grace from me for its flaws and errors. I do hope that the White Tiger v.2 package that includes male and female versions, genitals, etc has fixed seams, especially as it carries the hefty price tag of $L2200. Overall, I give this skin/avatar three out of five stars because of the low price tag, even though it does have some obvious seam issues.
