Teledildonics Comes to SL!!?

Tired of typing with one hand? Well, maybe this is another teledildonics hoax and maybe it isn’t (I’ll ask our ever vigilent readers to do the requisite research) but Slashdong.org claims to have introduced hardware (and requisite interface software) that will maker your SL Sexy Skybox cybering liasons more… well, more vibrant and penetrating. Since this is a family tabloid I can’t go into the details, but suffice it to say that you buy a piece of hardware that you connect to your computer and which can respond to certain forced feedback features of SL. I refer you to the slashdong website for the hard and fast details. (Thanks to Clark Ambassador for the pointer, and we invite readers to submit product reviews).

Okie dokie, lemme make a few things clearer about the project:
WE didn’t really introduce hardware here. All this does is use DirectInput to make a Force Feedback controller shake. It’s the same idea that every other game with force feedback uses. That’s also the only hardware to buy. Don’t expect the Sinulator, Highjoy, or any other internet enabled toy to work with our stuff, ’cause that’d get me totally, totally sued.
We have instructions on modding an XBox controller so that you can hook different things to the motor signals of the controller (it’s pretty obvious what those things are in this case). Putting that together with the software we wrote (fully open source and available at the site), you’ve got yourself a full virtual sex system that will run around $40 in parts (not counting the soldering equipment you’ll need, but even then, still < $100).
If you’ve got any questions, contact qDot Bunnyhug in-world. I’ll be happy to give demos, though it’s really not all that impressive unless you’ve got a controller on your side (like I said, any force feedback controller works!).

gamegirladvance.com already had this story ages ago, sheesh. Boys are often later in developing, I guess.

This surprises me not a bit. About twelve years ago, after experiencing a virtual reality game at Dave and Buster’s, I “invented” (that is to say, I thought of, but couldn’t build) the SexSuit. This would be something people put on, full of sensors and touchy-feely things, so that by doing certain things with their keyboards, their partner, also wearing the SexSuit, would feel the things in the various places that they wanted them to feel, and vice versa. The ultimate safe sex!
Also, yes, I read about this somewhere else already. I figure it is the first step toward my invention coming true.
