Get Thee to the Library!

by Alphaville Herald on 17/09/05 at 4:35 pm

Second Life resident Wandering Yaffle’s new library in the Furness sim truly deserves a better headline pun than that, but such are the deadline pressures of life at the Herald that it was all we could come up with on short notice. To really do the thing justice, you’ll have to get your virtual asses over there yourselves and check out the unbelievable collection of writing on games and virtual worlds that Yaffers has assembled in Second Life, a kind of virtual-reality mirror of his typist’s Always_Black Web site, which our RL journo friend Mark Wallace managed to sneak into The New York Times some months back.

Enjoy the party, and happy reading!

    Aw, shucks.

Thanks to everyone who took and interest and came to see what we’re up to in the library! It was a pretty amazing day altogether and I met some really fascinating people.

yaffie’s library is a wonderful place, even if you don’t read the stuff. go see the planatarium. visit the bar. also, the guy will publish anything. i *know*.

This is the kind of stuff that keeps me in SL. What a great collection of intelligent, individualist thinkers — thank you, Wandering Yaffle, for the tour and especially for the vertigo I got watching the entire solar system speed by my feet :) It was an experience I hope to repeat soon when you achieve your goals with the planetarium.

Here is creative freedom at its best. This is a stick in the eye of those who scream about freedom in SL but never do anything about it but talk. Here stands real freedom being exercised and strengthened. This deserves all the support SL folks can give it.
