Steee-RIKE!! Bowling Kingpins Knocked Over for Big Bucks. None are spared!

by Alphaville Herald on 17/10/05 at 10:14 am

Anonymous sources are reporting that there has been a rash of exploits on the TP Bowling lanes in Second Life – perhaps all of them – and tens of thousands of linden dollars were scored by the turkey perpetrating this scam before he split from SL. According to Herald sources, the exploit involves using a physics disrupter that yields lots of strikes and a shower of bowling pin prims scattered over wide distances – even into other sims by some accounts. One Bowling Alley owner reported that he had been robbed of 11K Lindens (@ $40 US) in a three hour period. Others report similar or greater losses. (The TP Bowling lanes designed by Dominus pay 1K Lindens for a perfect score.)

According to one source, at least one perpetrator was named EXTREMEwHAT Flan. Sequential checks in the find utility show that there *was* such an avatar but is no longer, suggesting either that he has been banned, or cashed out his winnings with IGE and cancelled the account. Either way, the Lindens owe us a full report of how the situation is being dealt with. And of course, the name of the avatar suggests a connection to high tech griefer group know as the W-Hats, or at least someone trying to implicate them in the crime. We will continue to provide updates on this rapidly developing story. Please feel free to post new information in the comments section below.
