Family Reunion?

Pat the Rat undercover in Chinatown
You didn’t hear it from Pat the Rat, dear readers (well, actually, you did), but word on the streets of Second Life is that the original virtual mobsters are coming to town. Having left The Sims Online and gone to the mattresses some time ago (the virtual matresses, that is), we hear that a certain Sim Mafia family, ever a Herald staple, is now eyeballing the Grid as a terroritory ripe for their expanding operations.
As devoted Herald readers know, the family only dabbles in legitimate industries like property renovation, temporary financial aid for underprivileged avatars, and providing dime-a-dance girls for weekend sock hops. But still, some people manage to accuse them of getting up to all kinds of dirty deeds. Shame, shame! Pat the Rat says: Let s/he who is without sin cast the first stone (since Pat doesn’t qualify on that score, hehe). Just to be on the safe side, though, the Sim Mafia has already enlisted the services of a certain blinged-out consiglieri to defend them against any trumped-up charges, Pat hears. Does he have the Metaverse Superior Court in his pocket already? Or is he just glad to see us?

Fughedaboudit!!! Yes, last night The Sim Mafia was officially formed in Second Life. I have talked to several leaders of the major crime families in the game and have their blessing. I have also hired Gina Fatale to be my Consigliere (family advisor) and Raymond Polonsky as my lawyer to represent me in both business and legal matters (Metaverse Superior Court). Yes, I support the court system. I believe it’s a novel idea that currently has a few flaws, but everything does when it first starts. Love the pic of Pat btw.
I am also in the process of acquiring an accountant and Underboss, I have my picks already. Our website http://www.thesimmafia.com will be back up within the next week or two as well. Once that is up I will have my virtual lawyer Mr. Polonsky send the Herald an official press release which will detail our goals in the Second Life community which should raise a few brows. In the meantime, everyone take care and it’s good to be back in this life of ours called La Cosa Nostra.

Boss, The Sim Mafia
P.S. Don’t message me or any other member to join. This is going to be an invite only group using the Mafia based vouching system. I will be keeping it as real as possible this time. Sim does not stand for Sims Online, it stands for simulated.

Well sims is the slang for simulated people anyway, it’s a gaming franchise, yes. But they didn’t just decide on that name by chance. It’s a game about simulated people, so they called it Sims for short. Simple. So the TSM family name is completely justified for use in SL (another place full of yup, simulated people. Sims.) world.
“Sims” the game franchise by that name, just happens to be the most popular and well known use of the term that’s all. TSM could be in any game world it wanted (that had a form of simulated people) and it wouldn’t make a difference where they went.
A world of simulated people, is a world of simulated people. period.

Hehehe my vote for best Herald line of the year, “Does he have the Metaverse Superior Court in his pocket? Or is he just glad to see us?” Hehehe you rule.

Long time no talk RB! Ya I just wanted to clear up any confusion about Sim being used. I know there are at least 1 or 2 slow folks out there who may go, “But it’s not Sims!”

I can’t resist… I love the anonymous posters (what’s to be afraid of?). If you don’t care, don’t post. Obviously you have some twinge of caring or you would not have posted. If you truly did not care, you would have moved on without making a statement. =)

Damn I love the boards. Don’t you?

I don’t think I completely understand how a mafia would work in SL (beyond pure role playing, or actual RL criminal acts).
I can certainly see a single organization branching into businesses that are typically mafia run (Gambling, sex industry, etc.) But without the ability to intimidate/harm other players or exert control over the Lindens, you would basically be running a legitimate business, not a mafia.
So is this basically a role playing game? Or like a business trademark or motif?

your a has been so who cares.

Nov 2nd, 2005
A has been? Damn, that ALMOST hurt. haha I was called a has been back when I was making national headlines. Like I care haha And I am replying becuase it’s fun, not that I care. BTW, you’ll be seeing more of me in some upcoming books among other things. A has been is someone who used to do something and do it well and then fades out to never return. I am still damn good at what I do and I have been playing, just not as Mafia. I’ve never truly faded out. Don’t be envious that people know my name and not yours.. Oh wait, that’s right.. Your anonymous. LOL
Marsellus Wallace
Why hide behind an anonymous name? I’m JUST an avatar. =)

Role playing is a huge aspect of the game and what we do. But we do branch out beyond the traditional services like gambling, etc. You can intimidate players and you can harm them. Beleive it or not you can exert control over Lindens as well… They just may not know they are in your control. ANYTHING is possible. You think of it in game including killing someone, we can do it.
Marsellus Wallace
Who remembers the Moe Green Special from TSO? lol

Aimee intimidates me all the time…but that is another story.
As for the mafia people, someone tried to explain it to me one day and I didn’t get it. I mean if they want to have mamas and sistas and run around with blingy toy guns holstered to their hip, hey who am I to argue with that?
I would think the reverse of what was mentioned above could happen. Say if they fuck with the wrong person in SL and word got out, the backlash would be so bad against that particular mafia that they would be the ones with problems. *shrug* Maybe that’s just me.

You “made national headlines” as a teenage, internet-trolling mafia boss with an un-original name (and even an un-original AKA) that doesn’t even have enough mastery over 3rd-grade English to discern the correct usage of there/their/they’re? The SL Mafias exerting control over Lindens?.. Please. If you’re a role-playing group, just come out and say it- don’t spew forth such incredulous delusions of grandeur.

Mars you always seem to attract these anonymous posters lol it really does crack me up. oh and FYI Neko last i checked Marsellus was a grown man and if i’m correct was at least 25 when he played TSO (approx. 3 years ago you do the math) and got the national headlines then so where you get he was a teenager from IDK but it was a good laugh as well
Marsellus Wallace

A teenage internet-trolling mafia boss?? Hmmm Thats funny, I was never a teenager when I play. In fact I started playing when I was 24. I’m 28 now and am making something of myself in real life as a result of these games. What have you done as a result of the games?
You think the national press cares about a teenage internet-trolling mafia boss? Fughedaboudit! Maybe you should read the stories before you open your mouth. May save you some time and some face. As for my spelling.. I’m sorry that in the heat of typing I may make a mistake or two. It’s always the people that have nothing better to say that try to knock grammer and spelling as if this is grade school. I went to college, I’m sorry if I didn’t study English, I was too busy learning how to support million dollar mainframes.
In regards to excerting control over Lindens, it’s not possible? That’s like saying that the US Government is not corruptable becuase of who they are. Come on now, who’s really having delusions of grandeur here??? It is very possible. Time to think outside that little gaming box of yours.
Also, you try to say our name is not original. Have you seen the other Mafias? They name themselves after real life Mafia families or their last names in the game. Going by that naming convention it appears that our name is actually very original. Good try though. *gives you gold star for effort*
Marsellus Wallace
Waiting for an original reply. Come on, you can do it!
P.S. Rick, sure the game as a whole can backlash against you, but the game as a whole does not have the resolve of a Mafia. Mafia’s are relentless, at least the efficient ones are. Besides, the average Joe Smoe isn’t going to involve himself in Mafias, especially in a fight. The term Mafia scares away most, but not all, players. I know that really doesn’t address what your talking about, but hopefully it helped a little.

Drive By:
I’m glad you have some better understanding. =)
Miss Someone:
Ooooh, scary. I’m shaking in my virtual concrete boots. Sure what you say matters, it’s your opinion. However, if you TRY to make threats and insults that’s not really anything relevant to the post so it truly doesn’t matter. Especially when this is supposedly just a game to you and when you try to do this on a topic you know nothing about and do not care to learn about.
Furthermore, you hide behind a fake name which makes what you have to say even less poignant. As I told Drive by, I could care less if you don’t use your name, but if you want to try to be insulting or threatening and you have nothing to fear of me, why not use your name? Makes it look like you are scared and I do have power over you. I rest my case. Get used to the fact people can have power over you too. It’s a part of life, deal with it.
I’m guessing you’re very young (republican too, just a guess) from your writing style, use of colorful language and complete lack of understanding on how the real world works, let alone a virtual one. Not that age really matters becuase we are all supposed to be adults here, (We don’t play on the Teen Grid) but who is the one that needs to grow up? Did you see your last reply at all??? Anyway…
I may be a grain of sand in millions, but you still know who I am and I still get to you and irritate you. Don’t try to say I don’t either… Your posts have gotten consistently more hostile, all the meanwhile I keep my cool and explain my points clearly. That really pisses people off I’ve found, especially when you can prove them wrong and make them look stupid. Now who is the grain of sand? BTW, thanks for keeping the post alive, I love the free advertising. Maybe now you want the post to die? I’ll stop replying if you stop posting, simple as that.

Why should I not compare myself to Uri? If you’re going to make the comment you should at least explain why. Thanks in advance!!! =)

Actually, I was mocking you, not threatening you. Once again, my name/age is irrelevant. I don’t believe in the government nor do I vote so your guess is incorrect. My “hostility” and “colorful” language is just my way of dealing with fuckwits like yourself (and getting a few laughs). Seriously, you don’t understand shit. Do you have a sense of humor? I was around in TSO when those little kiddy mafias were popular. I mocked them then and I will mock them now. I find it humorus that you are actually going to add yet another family of bling tards and huge breasted escorts to the game. Can’t anyone do anything original in SL anymore? Again, get over yourself.

Stellsy:
Once again, if you don’t explain your comment it is irrelevant. If you do not provide a reason behind how can you prove your point? If you don’t go into details, then everyone passes over your comment. Yes, I called it a comment. It is an argument as well. Not going to get into an English debate with you though.
Someone:
You want someone to do something original. That’s where I come in. No bling, no big breasted escorts. Once again do your homework, I am not the average Mafia player and this is not your average Mafia group. And yes, you do not beleive in government. Therefore you’re extremely young or extremely stupid… Maybe both. I’ll leave that up to the readers to decide. Anyway, this is going no where with you. What you call mocking, I call a sad attempt at trying to save face. =)
Second Life Community:
We’re here. Deal with it. You don’t like us or what we do, then don’t interact with us in game. Simple as that. Agree to disagree and move on. Don’t start no shit, won’t be no shit.

I dont care if people pass over my comments. Im not an attention whore like you. I felt like speakin my mind and i did so. I stand behind what i said. You shouldnt compare yourself to Uri. Honestly if you cant grasp my meaning in that im not sure that explaining my comment would help.
