Town Hall Audio File Now Available, Transcript TK

by Alphaville Herald on 11/04/06 at 1:59 pm

The audio file of last week’s Town Hall meeting with Philip Linden is now available for listening at this link. The recording is also being transcribed into text format at the moment, and should be available within 48 hours, according to SecondCast‘s Johnny Ming. Enjoy! (Or be enraged, if you prefer to roll that way.)

    My predictions:

Though it seems as if you could fit a LOT more into voice and get a LOT more done, studying the transcripts of this meeting, and the last meeting, and at least 3-6 samples of those before, you’ll discover:

o this one took way longer
o this one answered way less questioned
o this one had way less news-you-can-use

and no fair comparing this one to the most recent last one where Jeska lost the list of questions in a crash or something, and Philip never said anything much.

Go to some of the others and see how much was accomplished — contrast and compare.

Voice, when transcribed, always turns out to say a lot less.

But it wasn’t translated into speech from text, they decided to do a town hall meeting using SKYPE or somthing like that, it was spoken instead of typed, thats why it says in the article ‘The recording is also being transcribed into text format at the moment’.
    I havn’t heard it yet, but i’m about to….

“Voice, when transcribed, always turns out to say a lot less.”

hmmm…you must use a speech to text system for all your diatribes then?

Ah, yes, I can see it now….Prok standing imperiously in the bay window of her palatial suburban mansion, one hand tucked in the small of her back, the other gently touching her furrowed brow as she dictates to her word processor [whirring expectantly away on the 1917 faux-stalinista workers desk in the corner] on the most critical SL issues of the day that need to be addressed before the masses wake for their morning dose of toxic blogfest.

    Yum.
