You Thought it Wasn’t Possible: New Levels of Arrogance Achieved by PR Firm in Second Life

by Urizenus Sklar on 08/11/06 at 8:51 pm

Well, we’ve done out best to call out the PR firms for the false claims of firsts, so you would think some of them might be getting the message. But what message are they getting exactly? In the following message leaked to the Herald, Jane McDaid of Thinkhouse PR in Ireland says exactly what she thinks.

I have checked … the fucktards article and appreciate that as you say – early adopters pay a heavy price for the attribution of “leader.” That’s a price I am willing to pay as a Trend Leader – but should we have to pay a heavy price for being curious, innovative, brave, creative and effective marketeers?.

Ms. McDaid, I now pronounce you Queen of Fucktards. We are not beating on you for being a trend leader or vor being curious, brave, creative, etc.. We are beating on you for taking credit for the work that real trend leaders did! You are not creative if you appropriate other people’s accomplishments as your own. No, that *doesn’t* make you a leader or creative. It makes you an arrogant thief.

Apparently thinkhouse PR is holding an event in SL tomorrow. I’m sure it will be the first ever something or other. Joy.

Ms. McDaid is another fucktard for sure – but the Thinkhouse PR
    link seems to be unlinked.

fixed, and good thing too, because their site sports a lovely shade of green. Wouldn’t want anyone to miss it.

It is really quite outrageous. I wish that someone at a mass media outlet would pick up on this. Of course, the fanfare around this or that first is probably more important than taking these fucktards to task.

By the way, I would like to announce that I have just created the first, what I like to call, ‘e-journal’. Catchy word, eh. Basically, it is my journal, but it is available on the Inter-net. I believe that someday the world might be full of these Inter-net journals.

They are the first fucktard PR publishing news making a fault statement to Second Life’s History. Let’s give them that.

And Zooey, congratulation on your first fucktard claim to be the first to make journal on inter-net. Don’t you remember this site? —> http://www.livejournal.com/

Well said, UrizenusSklar. I think you’re making a good job by tracking, exposing and archiving here those corporate bullshits.
Please keep on it! (I mean: “please continue”…is “keep on it” correct english?)

Nacon: I’m quite sure Zooey’s “first e-journal” claim is sarcastic – I’m not even english mother tongue, but I did get it.

me to the editor of the guardian:

“Channel 4′s director of radio, Nathalie Schwarz, said listener
interaction is important for the station. “Being the first radio station to launch in Second Life enables us to bring our range of programmes to new audiences who are interested in interactive content.”

fuckwits – dont you do any research or do you simply regurgitate press releases ?

twice in 2 days you’ve been caught out….

    idiots”

    their reply:

    “Sorry, why are we “fuckwits”?

Uri: Hat’s off to you for writing these articles; from the moment the very first BS press releases were made I have found them seriously irritating.

I think it’s more ignorance than arrogance on the part of these companies, but the end result is still the same.

Surprised you didn’t mention the Toyota/Nissan pissing competition at the top of Classifieds.

    Hello,

The Guardian is not known as a bastion of fact-checking. Right after Hurricane Katrina, they published a story about Navy attack-dolphins accidently getting loose off the coast of New Orleans.

They quoted one source for this story–Leo Sheridan. Had they put Sheridan’s name into Google, they would have discovered that he features prominently on museumofhoaxes.com.

I’ve caught them in another fact-checking problem–they said Miss England 2005, who is Muslim, claimed she received death-threats, which she denied when I intereviewed.

    Best,
    Blue
