Immersionists (and possible Luddites) declare war

Friday May 11, 2007 – The Charleston Harbor Navy (CN for short) held a press conference to announce their declaration of war with the Alliance Navy and the Second Life Sky Navy. Held in a hidden bunker somewhere in Rizal the announcement was made to a very small audience. Although no gunfire could be heard outside during the conference, one of the representatives, Voldo Asp, had to leave shortly after the conference began. Adm. of Ground Voldo Asp was unable to return to the conference and reasons for his departure were left to the imagination.

The Charleston Harbor Navy, as with other military groups in SL, work towards the betterment of Second Life and attempt to protect the other residents from harm and griefing. In Inuyasha Deere’s own words, “We, the military founded by the power of Republicanism, wish to assist the citizens of Second Life. We will destroy these negative influences for you. I salute you”. Inuyasha Deere holds the rank of Imperial Admiral in the Charleston Navy and is emperor and head of state of The Federal Republican Navy.

In their official statement, Admiral Deere stated, “The Federal Republican Navy declares war on the Alliance Navy, Second Life Sky Navy, and will work towards shutting down Mr. Lee’s Greater Hong Kong- a group we accuse of funding griefers and being a scam to the citizens of Second Life. These are in our personal interests, and also in our utmost respect and support for both the Merczateers Tactical Forces and The Grand Federation. I make this statement without any doubt or regrets. The allied states will win this war. On the behalf of the Republic of Korea, death to the Alliance Navy”.

Hades Fraenkel explained, “You see, [Chrischun Fassbinder, owner of Mr. Lee's Greater Hong Kong] somewhat a scammer, because you think you are supporting the funds of an old, poor asian when [you] are actually paying a patrician. … He also makes fake claims such as ‘unlimited money per minute’”. You may have seen spinning ad cubes around the mainland with Mr. Lee’s advertised. This would be the business owner that we are talking about. Mr Fassbinder was unavailable for comment at the time this article was written.

The war between the various military groups in SL is not new. It has been well covered in the Herald. We are, however, seeing an increase in hostilities and the beginnings of shifting alliances. The CN has also given up on the MOSCOW treaty and does not believe that the CN is getting the same level of respect they give to others. Admiral Deere went on to say, “The socialist MOSCOW leader [Ethan Schuman] has often called us ‘ ankle dogs’ or ‘weasels’ when we have captured Tethys on numerous occasions”. However, the primary reason for giving up on MOSCOW was, “We withdrew from [MOSCOW] for the reason that we could not form alliances with Non-MOSCOW States. Now that we left MOSCOW, we have over a half dozen of allies”.

With open war now declared with the Alliance Navy and the Charleston Navy unwilling to be involved in the new talks to find a replacement for SLSALT, while they are at war with the group that is spearheading the talks, it will be a very long time before a coherent inter-group fair system for combat can be established. In the mean time the raids, accusations, and animosity will continue.

*sighs* Again you believe that you can “destroy” the Alliance Navy Inuyasha. Foolish, very foolish, as the AN are VIRTUAL, and so you cant actually destroy them. I also find it very funny when you make threats against not only the Alliance Navy, but the SLSN who have a sim and a large fighting force while you have….a tiny base and 15 people? Sad. As to the Grand Federation, everyone knows that they are griefers themselves. It’s funny how you “ally” yourself with people who you say you are trying to destroy i.e griefers. And yet no mention of how you had fervently called Sparta a “rogue nation.” Despite that Sparta is allied to the AN, I would thank you to not attempt to threaten my Spartans. They are my family, and I am a father, watching over them, guiding them, protecting them. That is the heart of a Philosopher King. Read Plato’s “The Republic” if you have no idea what I mean, Inuyasha. As for your saying that you fight in the name of Republicanism, cut it out. You are a disgrace to Republicans everywhere.

… okay, seriously. The CN is a tiny group. There’s been 50 or more groups just like them that have come and gone.
Seriously, you guys don’t evne need to report on the AN as much as you do, let alone the insane ramblings of every twobit with a few guys and some guns.

“Foolish, very foolish, as the AN are VIRTUAL, and so you cant actually destroy them.”

That does not follow. Being associated with a virtual world does not somehow magically insulate an organization from forces that can destroy them.

All organizations are abstractions, but few last forever. In the real world, you *can* destroy an organization by killing all its members, but it’s rare that an organization comes to an end in this manner. Usually organizations are destroyed by other things (internal conflicts, external pressures, competition for membership, lack of interest, etc.), and nothing about an organization being in a virtual world protects it from these common causes of an organization’s destruction.

Few factual points I would like to make concerning the topic:

    Alliance Navy Land Holdings:
Approx. 2 Sims (Dorien, Half of Emit Time and >Half of Tethys)
    Enlisted Full Time Members: 98
    Cadet Pool:100+
    Standard Issue Weaponry: YES
    Standard Issue Aircraft: YES
Heavy Weaponry (Mechs, Tanks, Artillery, HMGs): FEW
    Functional Fleet ships: YES

    Merczateers Land Holdings:
    1 Sim (Badnarik)
    Members (including cadet pool): 190
    Standard Issue Weaponry: YES
    Standard Issue Aircraft: YES
Heavy Weaponry (Mechs, Tanks, Artillery, HMGs): FEW
    Functional Fleet ships: NO

    SLSN Land Holdings:
    1 Sim (Endless Love)
    Members (including cadet pool): 54+
    Standard Issue Weaponry: YES
    Standard Issue Aircraft: YES
Heavy Weaponry (Mechs, Tanks, Artillery, HMGs): NO
    Functional Fleet ships: FEW

    CN Land Holdings:
    <4080 m2
    Members (Cadet Info Hidden): <30
    Standard Issue Weaponry: UNKNOWN (Unlikely)
    Standard Issue Aircraft: NO
Heavy Weaponry (Mechs, Tanks, Artillery, HMGs): UNKNOWN (Unlikely)
    Functional Fleet ships: NO

    Sparta Land Holdings:
    <4080 m2
    Members (Cadet Info Unknown): <40
    Standard Issue Weaponry: FEW
    Standard Issue Aircraft: NO
Heavy Weaponry (Mechs, tanks, Artillery, HMGs): UNKNOWN (Unlikely)
    Functional Fleet Ships: NO

These are all to the best of my knowledge and where information is not available to myself (Groups hidden, weaponry unknown) I have given all groups the benefit of the doubt. If any groups would like to correct the information I have presented, please do. Once again, I have no favored any group and I will openly admit a lack of heavy weaponry in the AN, a lack of fleet ships in the Mercz, and no heavy weapons in the SLSN. I honestly have to guess the CN due to all their groups being hidden and because I have not seen any standardization or deployment of purpose built weaponry. Sparta also, but I think Bruno can clarify this. Inuyasha, I’d like you to clarify your groups standings as well.

“Sparta also, but I think Bruno can clarify this”

Sure thing Raideur, let me clear this up for anyone who’s interested.

Standard Issue Weaponry: YES, Mazer Ludd and, I think, Jim Herbst can attest to one of our Phalanx Drakon Pulse Rifles that we use, capable of delivering a Pulse round that’s like a miniature missile, not available on the Auto fire setting, only on single and with a slight recharge time, to keep it fair. Other weapons for the other branches of Sparta are also available, such as the BZ-62 assault rifle for Air Force, or the Triton assault rifle for Navy.
Standard Issue Aircraft: YES (We have different strikecraft and dropships, just need more pilots to show a whole force)
Heavy Weaponry (Mechs, tanks, Artillery, HMGs): YES, go to the Second Life Times for some pictures.
Functional Fleet Ships: YES In fact, Mazer Ludd was kind enough to take some pictures of them for a computer program used to, I am guessing, make schematics or something recently.

Any other questions anyone may have about Sparta I will happily answer, although there are some things we like to keep quiet, such as how our things work.

If you’re reading this, then congratulations! You have just met the next form of social evolution on the Internet.
To some, we will be their greatest enemy. Spoiling their fun and doing everything in our power to ruin all they hold dear.
To others, their greatest friend and ally, always willing to make them laugh.
How you react will decide your fate.

As the internet has grown in popularity, a disturbing phenomenon has occurred: Everyone thinks they they are SPECIAL.

A special little snowflake handcrafted by God to make the world a better place. Sites like Livejournal, DeviantArt, Myspace, Habbo, and now SecondLife have all helped to support this idea of individuality.
We have news for you… You aren’t special.
You aren’t unique. You may not even have the destiny of making a living room a better place to be, let alone the world.
You are a mindless horde of filth, traversing the universe on a small ball of dirt. A speck upon a speck in the vastness of existance.

We are here to remind you of this.
We have embraced our deindividuality. We have embraced the filth. We have embraced our smallness as human animals. And we are going to show you what it’s like. We will take all of the filth in the world; images you never want to see, stories you never want to hear, memories you never want to see again, we will bring it all into the light of day and laugh at it as you run screaming, trying not to vomit.

We cannot be stopped. We have no leader. We have no true names. We are Anonymous, and our numbers are vast. We are everywhere, and we never forgive.

Wherever someone takes themselves too seriously, we will be there. Wherever someone has an inflated ego, we will be there. Wherever someone screams of fursecution, we will be there. Wherever someone forgets that a game isn’t important, we will be there. Wherever anyone puts themself above common sense, or puts fantasy before reality, we will be there to tear their lives apart.

After all, what is a man? A miserable pile of secrets. We will expose your secrets, force you to face your demons, and demand you listen to your own stupidity.

We will do it through madness. And we will remove you from the high place you have built yourself.

    Deflate your eglives apart.

After all, what is a man? A miserable pile of secrets. We will expose your secrets, force you to face your demons, and demand you listen to your own stupidity.

We will do it through madness. And we will remove you from the high place you have built yourself.

Deflate your egos, get off your high-horses, and stop your yiffing. The Patriotic Nigras are coming.

United as one, divided by zero. We are Anonymous, We are legion, We do not forgive.

Quoting Fight Club does not make you cool. Patriotic Nigras fail, again, as always.

CN is an absolute joke, and their leader is a rambling pyscopath who had the rare pleasure of actually making my mute list. If you want to see something funny, punch Inuyasha in the side of the head while making derogatory comments about the French. How they’re still together, I have no idea.

Raideur, just a fact update: Mercz do not have any mechs, HMGs, or heavy weapons. They lost that element of their arsenal when Titan withdrew.

And as a special callout to Nacon: Go ahead. Post. Try to “make us look like idiots.” Those of us who are actually capable of analysis and critical thinking, and who are informed on and interested in “WAR bandwagon” will greatly enjoy kicking your teeth in. If you don’t like the subject, don’t click the link, don’t read the article. Noone is forcing you to.

CN is an absolute joke? Let me ponder that one. While I do respect the Mercz, it is only you that I show disdain to. Honestly, while we are small with seventeen official personnel, look beyond that. Our reserves and civilian air corps., who we will not reveal the identity of those CN reserves, number twenty five. That makes us forty two men. Think before you talk.

May I ask why your groups are hidden? Personally to me this makes tallying troop numbers more difficult than it should. If you have more members, it does your group more prestige to present them.

  23. Alex

    May 14th, 2007

Yes, I would like to know why you have so many \’civillian\’ reserves, ones that remain hidden. Is it so that you have people to carry out more \’underhand\’ tactics should you fail miserably in your fairness?

Anyway, anyone can claim to have reserves. All it requires is a quick call up of \’Friends\’ and a \”yes, i r a CN resrve\”. For example: I, Alexi Rossini (not SL name… even though, to my suprise, Rossini is an actual SL surname…) am in charge of the Portland Militia. I have 55 members, and want to get rid of all greifing on the grid!

Not very believable, but hey… I won\’t denounce your troop count any further. Maybe a demonstration of your combined might is in order, hmm? To start the war with a bang/fizzle.

CN looks like a small military unit with no teeth. It seems like that the arrogance and also the contempt that the AN have at the moment, it looks like that it’s AN and SLSN vs.everybody else. The real shame is that the opposing sides to the AN are not coming together to form an alliance and also the technical expertise to overcome the AN.

It’s all very well having small units that can work together but unless they are all on the woofer battlefield as a cohesive unit, this tinpot fighting will continue.

And Raideur NG, thanks for the intel there, you clearly love to gloat on the fact that you have more kit than anyone else…ther bigger your hardware the bigger your target so as least I know what to shoot at now…

Hey – leave Chrischun’s Greater Hong Kong alone punks.

His place is one of the few places where newbies can go for actual entertainment and finding things that are fun and interesting.

As a 2 year SL person, I’m far from a newbie, but I still enjoy stopping in Greater Hong Kong for the amusement aspects. Chrischun strikes me as an honest guy providing a great service for many people.

Sure, his billboards can be found everywhere, and yes, this borders on “spam” – but he owns the land they are on and can do with it whatever he wants – if it includes giving free or low cost (and highly visible) advertising to new business start-ups in SL he’s providing a greater service than YOU can ever hope to. Too bad if it disturbs your delicate sensibilities of what YOU think Sl should be.

Have some common sense and go after REAL problems in SL if you want to pretend to be helpful. Attacking Greater Hong Kong will only make SL that much harder to enjoy for many innocent newbies.

Too bad for the legions… this is why 4chan died, don’t you understand? I stepped out of the legions because the golden days are long gone, and the legends will never, ever return. Snacks won’t be back, Moot will remain a tyrant, and Hal Turner will still survive, albeit in a miserable, disgusting aspect of a shattered vestige of a once proud, bigoted human being.

Let me tell you this, Anon, you’re EXACTLY like the Merczateers are. Our numbers never stop climbing, there are those who hate, and ridicule us with a misunderstanding, and blind passion, we strive to regain a golden age long gone due to tyranny, and corruption, there is really only one difference between the two of us.

    We aren’t Anonymous,

but then again, in this false reality, in this “game” this unstable attempt at a Utopian incarnation of “The Matrix”,

One must stop, and ask himself,

    who isn’t Anonymous?

  29. Luca Vasilopita

    May 15th, 2007

The reason it’s impossible to end most groups is because they are an idea.

Every time the Merczateers Tactical Forces, or the UTF, or the old Merczateers, or the SLMC die… they just phoenix and return about 2 months later with new threads and a new look.

If, due to some extremely unlikely mass alliance between every group that wants to beat the “BOSS OF INTARWEBS!” the AN is broken (equally as unlikely… given the current standard of all the hostile forces that are so disgruntled at the AN), then give it 2 months and there will be a replacement force.

    Persistance.

In all seriousness, the Alpha Marines (The ones in Halo armor, right? I lose track easily) have never showed a force of more than 4 men. Nor have the CN.

Freebie guns everywhere, sadly. While this isnt a bad thing to people who want to actually go to Rausch or attack the AN base at Tethys, or Badnarik, the ones who just say to themselves, “A gun, Im going to shoot everything that moves.” gives everyone who owns a firearm in SL a bad name.

Same goes with the people who buy PsiTecs. They are useful to some people, but others just persistantly harass others with it.

Luke and Inuyasha, you are invited, as always, to bring it at either Tethys or Dorien. A show of force is always fun for us, who usually deal with 1-3 guys. Entire armies are actually exciting.

    May 16th, 2007

My question how many armies now are at “war” with the AN, and are any of this combat groups even working together to put an “end” to them.

My next question is how many groups are against the Mercz?, they claim to be at the same level (given they claim to be better trained, but not have as good as tech), and I know that the Mercz are more of an ass hat to the public then the AN is, so why don’t we hear “down with the Mercz”? hell if I was to start a combat group, I’d put them as my number one target.

I know the AN thinks that other view them as the “boss of the interweb” and are more popular target for start up combat groups.

So this is my big question, why? What did the AN ever really do to you? Insult you? Shoot you? Had sex with your mother?

I want to know, what is the driving force for all you who claim to hate the AN or any other group. And don’t give me that the AN are arrogant, if your fighting someone only for that reason, you will have to fight a lot of people, including your self one day.

I know with out a goal a combat group or most any other group is pointless. But unless the AN, Mercz or another large combat group has personally done something to you, why not set your goals a little lower until you get the man power, and tech to fight one on one with a larger group?

The AN started small, they wanted to protect them selves in the sandboxes, and from what I know they also protected other builders as well. They moved out when they got land, and they just kept moving up in the world. Why is this? They have simple long term goals, survive, and develop new and better tech, maybe another one are two. But it works well, it’s like a business, a good business only goal is to make money, smaller goals to help with the long term goals, like putting on a family friendly face, to keep people willing to buy from them.

  46. Raideur Ng

    May 16th, 2007

Phantom, I can think of three big reasons why people do not like the AN.

#1. They get shot. Either wandering onto our land with a gun, arriving during a firefight, or just plain being annoying to us. They never fail to return to our base with a freebie and soon with some small military group tag on. Posting bigs signs that say “YOU WILL BE SHOT ON THIS LAND” doesn’t seem to work oddly enough.

#2 We do not lose. Our bases are usually guarded, and small armies and guys with guns are so stunned when planes are in the air and marines entering the area within 30 seconds. We practice, alot. Good soldiers should. Im sorry if we deny (random person) the fame of standing in our base unopposed, but we aren’t going to let it happen.

#3 We gloat. Yes, we gloat. I admit it. We pride ourselves on jobs well done and laugh at enemy soldiers who wear really hideous armor and use laughable aircraft. We snicker when people say “R U BIGH MiLATyr?” to us.

However, we also act professional. We require formal papers, saluting, correct addressing of superiors, etc. Militaries that fail to do so are considered less organized.

Merczateers, Sparta, SLSN, and the disbanded Novus Ordo are the only groups besides the AN I have -ever- seen habitually use salutes, correct titles, and require formal documents for things.

We are more than willing to provide a fair fight for those who want to. We will even help you get ready for it. However, we have no problem with completely messing your face up everytime you step on our base.

Just show some humility. It wont kill you. I think the AN High Command gives alot of the small armies more respect than they could ever hope to scrape together elsewhere. We respect you, or try. Can’t you do the same?

Phantom, it would help you understand WHY things are the way they are, if you get to see the history laid before you.

Back when the AN started, like Ethan once told me, Oldschool AN, there wasn’t anything in creation that could touch it. Things ran by a system, things actually got done.

The AN WAS an anti griefer group, a group that actually protected the public from problems, almost nonexistent today, not because griefers are not present in sandboxes, because they most definitely are, but because everyone now has a way to combat griefers, and the AN was defeated by the wave of power that the lindens had bestowed upon the general public (this was before the days of abuse reports) At this point the Alliance Navy, was forced out of it’s niche, and they had to move from an anti-griefer group, to a military role play, and took their policing attitude upon the role play groups present before them.

This is about the time that the Alliance Navy, and the Merczateers began to interact with one another, and when the AN II was born, because there were a handful of members in the AN that wanted to continue policing now self-sufficient sandboxes.

The AN II were, without a doubt, considered to be a “griefer army” at the point of it’s conception by the AN, at least, and this was around the time that the Merczateers had fallen, so one can safely assume that the AN II was their chief concern at the time.

The Merczateers sprang up a few weeks later, as the UTF, and ran a dogged campaign without two of the Generals until finally, becoming the Merczateers once again in Mid-Gangwon, and eventually, moving to Hjalmer, all the while, AN II had grown into the Novus Ordo Imperialis, public enemy #1 to the AN, but still allies, making fun of each other behind closed doors, etc.

The Merczateers were, for a lack of better words, nursed back to health in a chained bed, by the Alliance Navy. We had the manpower they needed for a bulky infantry division, and they provided us the diplomatic, and air support we needed to keep public and airborne enemies out of our hair, until we’d gotten our feet off the ground. However, the Alliance Navy kept our numbers slim, by ruling out members of the Merczateers allegedly “without merit” morally speaking, of course.

This was first recognized after the second or third forced expulsion of renowned scripter, Sirlor Stonecutter. Apparently, he had stolen weapons, or scripts from the Alliance Navy, however, none of this is apparent when comparing any of the Alliance Navy scripts, then again, this event happened almost six months ago, and the older scripts may have been deleted by Alliance Navy engineers, nevertheless, Sirlor’s rifle scripts were leaked a few months later, and his Karma had finally caught up with him (or so they say).

After the fall of the NOI, most of their members, still seeking the thrill of military, joined the second most powerful military in SL, at the time, The Merczateers, and red flags from the Alliance Navy were sent out immediately.

Of course, the ex-Ordo personnel were drawn directly to Merczateer, Melly Deemster, Ex-Ordo personnel, and a great influence to Merczateer Supreme Cmdr, Lurdan Huszar. In addition, the Ordo promised highly advanced scripts and firepower to the Merczateer ranks, and almost instantly setting us above the Alliance Navy.

About this time, the Alliance Navy withdrew their Olive branch, and set neutrality, this was about the time of The Woofer Incident, in which The Merczateers were offered a sim, but the fickle sim owner soon withdrew his offer, ejected the Merczateers, returned the city we’d built after three full days, and attempted to sell it right away to the Alliance Navy, which refused the offer until after they had declared war on the Merczateers.

Of course, most Merczateers weren’t convinced once the sim was actually BOUGHT by the Alliance Navy, and most were grinding their teeth for the neutrality to fade into war.

During the Super Bowl Halftime, The Merczateers got their wish, or at least a taste of it ; The Alliance Navy performed a mock invasion onto the city of Badnarik, which, more than likely because it was a “joke” seemed to be one…. and the assault was reported a complete victory by the Merczateers.

At this point, we had 40% members ex-Ordo, raging for war, and 60% Merczateers, now confident enough to stand face to face with the Alliance Navy, and spit a bullet right in it’s eye.

Sometime in late Febuary, Alliance Navy Admiral, Nanao Mahfouz was taking advantage of the Merczateers’ loose attitude toward neutrality, and was surveying a set of equipment, built by Jonathan Arna, and quickly decided it was stolen, claiming that Arna had held Luca Vasilopita’s combat knife up, and then prim over prim, copied it, making it seem as if the combat knife was indeed his own.

Next, he dismissed a piece of C4 to be copied from BREACH’s Eata Kitty’s C4, as the wiring was “exactly the same”.

Incidentally, Jonathan Arna had logged in during Nanao’s accusations, and was, true to his own form, quick to anger and fumed for the brief moments in which Nanao, not withdrawing the venom from his accusations, let the bulk of them fly directly into Arna’s face.

Alliance Navy Admiral, Nanao Mahfouz was shot, on the spot by Merczateer General, Jonathan Arna, immediately, and this was followed up with a ban from Badnarik. I will admit, it was bad form on our part, but nevertheless, the Merczateers, aided by ex-Ordo Astra aces persevered to uphold Arna’s honor, and held off the night’s onslaught presented by infuriated Alliance Navy. This was, needless to say, another Merczateer victory, but this time, we understood the power of the Alliance Navy, and exactly what that amount of force could do to our group in a blink of an eye.

After that initial battle, the war began to stagnate. Attacks became less frequent, and both groups began to improve technologically. I’m not saying that the AN didn’t attack the Mercz, or vice versa, but a full scale assault like that wasn’t seen for almost two months.

During this time, the Merczateers had finished their supposed “godsend fighter” the A-BATS, a small, pod like craft, equipped with an array of weapons, HUD controlled ignition, and separate weapons interface, combining the HUD for startup, and hotkeys for weapon selection, which included chainguns, rockets, bombs, and a cannon WAS planned for the future, however, the designer of the A-BATS withdrew from the Merczateers, as he had too many friends in both groups, and more importantly, was sick of the drama.

-Shortly after, we found the A-BATS engine to only start up 12% of the time, thus making it EXCEEDINGLY difficult to shoot down the newly developed AN “Talon” which had a 100% chance of starting up, and was equipped with insanely massive blast radii , far more accurate cannons, and a homing rocket, which put our light dumbfire array to shame.

After the A-BATS, came the AK-47fp, and the Five-Seven Tactical, both Merczateer Weapons of choice. The former, was built by Hlaa Oad, and modified by Ishida Dye, to have a realistic ammunition count, and far more efficient scripting than the sirlor “999″ scripts we’d been using. The latter, was mostly for the sake of fulfilling Anthony Lehane’s dream of finally finishing the ultimate sidearm, equipped with one handed, two handed and dual wielding, but a laser, silencer, melee, every kind of Sirlor bullet, and a VERY smooth rate of fire. (Needless to say, even though this weapon owns the shit out of everything in it’s path, Titan still turned their noses up at it, because the clips wouldn’t go alpha when they holstered it.)

The moment of truth arrived on April 6th, at about one o’clock in the morning (Central Time), and the Alliance Navy began “Operation Crucifix” in which they attacked for 36 hours, and bombed the hell out of Badnarik…. our A-BATS were torn to shreds before they could even leave the ground, due to faulty engines, and the HC was getting blackscreened inside the Kremlin, the main point of interest for the AN Fleet gunners, and Talon Bombers. This left us with a handful of officers that had set their spawn on a platform in the sky, a load of confused grunts, firing at everything but one another, and a handful of grounded pilots.

The air issue was quickly solved, however, when Titan reinforcements arrived at about 3PM (again Central time) and killed all the air hostiles, leaving the infantry to kill the marines entering the sim. (This worked out rather well, as shooting is what grunts to best.) And it seemed that the battle would actually be over.

I logged off and went out to McDonalds for some lunch, and a friend in the Mercz calls me while I’m out, and tells me Gen. Jonathan Arna had sold the Kremlin to the Alliance Navy, and has left the Mercz, and is planning to join the AN. When I returned home, I found our Kremlin in ruin, with random prims sitting in midair, and half of the wall and floor improvements still laying on the ground.

Their was still exploding shit raining from the sky too.

Melly Deemster sends out a notice, someone had apprehended a HUD map of Badnarik, it’s tunnels, and divided it into sectors, this really was of no use to anyone in the group at that point, but at least we knew that this had been planned for some time.

On the Kommisiariat IM line, Melly and Lurdan were discussing a sim purge, since the entire layout was centered around the Kremlin, and this was an obvious loss on our half, we cleared the sim, and set it to no access.

Any Merczateer who says we won that, deserves to be smacked.

Afterwards, Merczateer Jr. Starshina, Dynamic Drinkwater, composed a temporary database called merczpower.no.ip.org full of screenshots picking out unfair tactics used in that assault, as well as a rather interesting conversation between he and Pezz Zenith.

Badnarik was rebuilt, this time, with a more practical layout in mind.

We put everything underground, save for a helipad landing point, and a small camp on top, connected to a road, leading to Nolan, for training purposes, and civilian entry.

Later, Comdiv Ethan Schuman took note of the AN’s tactics during Crucifix, and considered them an “invalid military” from that point.

This was agreed upon unanimously, and the draft for MOSCOW, was set in motion. (At the time, it was called ANSUC/KS) This was designed, partly, for setting down the rules for combat, unable to be bent, and keeping the drama at a minimum, but mostly to isolate the Alliance Navy, and killing them off without rewarding them with a fight. (Everyone agreed that even IF we’d slaughtered them in a landslide battle, most of them would declare victory, even with every member with his/her hands up, and our flag set all over their base.)

However, MOSCOW soon collapsed due to internal issues within the Merczateers, just because many Merczateers REALLY wanted to kill the Alliance Navy members again… needless to say, the AN seemed like they couldn’t care less, since many groups (although you may think the Merczateers DO think this, but it’s just a common myth.) think the Alliance Navy IS “Teh Final Boss of Teh INTERNETS!!!1″ they get attacked by random people almost by the hour, if not more, and it can get so bad, that they even attack each other, while trying to assault the AN.

Nobody actually had any problems with the Mercz, aside from the AN, SLSN, and Sparta, all whom either were excluded from MOSCOW, or didn’t actually have a finished base to attack at that given time, so were were essentially forming a draft on how to kill eachother, with our allies.

We eventually joined the AN’s STABLE, (naturally a counter to MOSCOW, but finished faster) because we honestly, would rather cut the politics, and fight the AN for once.

After a raid on the SLSN, AN reinforcements began to show up, not many, but just a couple of marines, and a pair of pilots, whom had the spawn under lock and key. (The SLSN spawn, in Endless love, is in a deep depression, in the corner of the sim, inside a minuscule octagonal brick room.) We had ANMD 2IC , Luca Vasilopita, chucking grenades into that small room, and anyone trying to get out was quickly disposed of, as they weren’t able to rez in time to escape the blast.

To counter this, I said “fuck the rezzing” and I primed my weapon, and prepared to TP back in. On arrival, I spun my avatar around as fast as my sensitivity would let me, and I fired madly at everything in the landing point until it was all clear.

Moments later, I got a message from Luca, saying that the Mercz had been thrown out of STABLE because I was spawn camping, and declaring us without a treaty, making us fair game for any military.

I responded by putting a DCS notecard vendor, with the rules of Badnarik on our landing point, and set our landing point to safeland to prevent any of our members from spawn camping.

The Alliance Navy has since broken the rules given out by the notecard vendor by using phantom bombing on targets not confirmed to use a shield, but hey, I’m just nice enough not to use the banhammer, because people don’t hate us enough to show up and try to kill us. Even the SLSN wont attack unless you’re there a good quarter hour in advance.

To sum it up, the AN’s really… just replaced their weaponry with verbiage, and it shows, and with Titan gone, the only reason the Mercz still even bother to fight you, is because you actually show up. Why the hell would we want to even bother with tin Goreans? Sure, we’ve gone through the “Oh, I miss fighitng AN” and we did, so, if you want to show up and fight, it’s fine, we can stay at war, but I don’t really care what happens to you, because you’ve already started to crumble, your fantastic elastic fleet division captains all resigned at the same time, leaving Avil and Jeremy to take care of the mess by themselves, and your Marine division’s really only been a threat when they do Kamikaze runs through our tunnels, (or hiding on top of rather, and spam more grenades on top of populated rooms), leaving only your air division (always has been your forte`) to handle all the dirty work. (which they’ve also done quite well by hovering outside our tunnels and spamming bombs onto us, or using the infamous gravbomb, most hated because it phases right through our hilltop and kills everything below with it’s phantomness.)

Really not much to say, good run eh? but it’d take a miracle for the AN to repair itself… when good groups go bad? seems like the only way to describe it….

Lovely one sided story (can’t really ask for much else at SLH, but hey). I know the Mercz and the AN drama rich history already, and I’m sure if a AN was to right down the history, it would go like that, but would favor the AN and mock the Mercz as you have done (I don’t get it why can’t people just tell it as it really happens)

but I’m really asking other groups why they are so much more likely to attack the AN then the Mercz as their major enemy.

and why so many groups start big, fail hard and die off, when you can start smaller and grow bigger. and then be able to take out the AN or Mercz.
