Top 100 MAXIM Girl opens new sim
by Tenshi Vielle, Fabulous Fashionista
Yesterday afternoon I had a very special opportunity to explore caLLiefornia and Dulce Del Mare pre-opening and get an inside look at the new sim that so many are excited about.
Modern lines add a youthful appearance to Second Life in Kiana Dulce’s shop.
It’s refreshing to see lines such as Tomboy and Kiana Dulce present their modern, youthful appearance to the SL fashion world, which is slowly showing its age. It seems to me that a bit of a “do-over” is in order, and caLLiefornia is just the ticket.
Tomboy’s exterior is fun and adventurous, like an old tree house
caLLiefornia is a sim sure to please even the most Northern of heart. With a sunset on view, plenty of docks and warm ocean water, this is a pleasant place to shop in. caLLie cLine, Kiana Dulce, Lollipop, Hatchies, caLLie cLine Home and Tomboy are a few of the shops to debut here, along with a special empty shop for caLLie’s favorite up and coming designers to be exhibited in for a to-be determined amount of time.
Outside of Callie Cline’s shop, viewing her Couture room
Since her Second Life debut in 2005, Callie Cline has branched her clothing line out from women’s clothing, to couture, to MainLine, and her newest endeavor, Callie Cline Home. Callie was most recently in the news for achieving the #95 spot on Maxim’s Hot 100.

Ouch… harsh words.
I don’t see anything wrong with the article… not my style of clothing but that’s not the point.

I agree with Lewis on this one. Just because you may not like fashion is no reason to jump on Tenshi. This article is more interesting to me than those on combat sims or, which army is attacking which other army.
You guys can get all pumped up shooting people while reading those types of articles. The programer types can get excited reading about some new scripting function or conference. So, allow those of us you enjoy fashion to have our articles too.
In this way, SLHerald is serving all of its readers.

I agree with Jennifer, just like Prokoky gets it’s sections with it’s own little rants.
I refer to Prok (Pork) as it.

how can u actually listen to anyone about what is news? if you print a series of bad articles on the lindens someone yells thats all you ever do. if you print one pleasant piece like this people yell that your doing fluff.
if you talk about anything other than doom and gloom its percieved as not interesting, but if all u print is doom and gloom people complain about that…. my head hurts. it kinda boils down to you cant please everyone so dont listen to anyone.

A new sim of your friend? Well, I guess I don’t mind if you cover new sims of your friends — just pick good friends!

Tenshi, maybe you should do us a favor (hardly, if you can) give Prok a new makeover with those stuff at Callie’s.

I’m sorry, but I don’t get the point of it. Let’s face it: this is a commercial. As far as I know you can buy an ad to be placed at the Herald. And that’s a great thing. But does Callie Cline need such an article? And most of all: for free? What about the other great designers? Don’t get me wrong – I *don’t want* to read here more like this, but why is this such a big deal that Callie Cline is opening her own sim? Uuuhh… her *own* SIM!
It’s not about her style or about the quality of her work. But this is really nothing for a good internet blog like the Herald (at least I thought that!).
A few postings earlier someone said, that this is more interesting than the war-postings we had the honor to read about a few weeks ago. I don’t think so. In fact: it’s the same. I didn’t get the point of that neither. Ok, one posting about some kids playing war. Let’s see the different aspects of Second Life and that should be enough about that topic. But then another one? And a third? And one more? And now the war begins? Oh see: troups are gathering! I thought it would’nt stop…
Please stop posting such things like the commercials of your friends and let others pay for the same thing. Concentrate on the real interesting topics in/of SL. There are a lot and I tend to read more about them on other sites and blogs. It’s a pitty, I always thought, the Herald was the best, but I’m not sure anymore. Please don’t let me and others down.

I think honestly, you guys are all bashing a writer for writing an article. I read the herald every few days and catch up on news, guess what! I may not find everything interesting, but honestly they key word is
CLASS
if your going to bash someone don’t say “you suk cok!” or “thiz thyingz suckzors!” say some constructive criticism, i mean really, some writers may not be the best but there is always room for improvement

Man, y’all are never happy. Just read it, and if you don’t like it, get on with it. As for you, Prok, Callie is a wonderful person, and you should really stop digging on everyone. Just sit there and look… pretty. Or manly. Whatever your mood is that day.

As a RL journalist keeping up with SL and it’s dynamic growth as well as being a resident, I consider this piece quite informative. Do you all realize, you that criticize that one of our “own” SL’s own, was chosen to be in a RL publication? Do you realize the implications of this for all the new emerging “metaverse” visability? From what I’ve read, (and since hearing of this have read Callie’s blog, many interviews with her, and more, that she was a wonderful choice to represent this community, and so her “sim” opening, does make good news for me.
I’ve done quite a bit of snooping around as a journalist and an SL resident and have found Callie has a very good reputation, is considered kind and approachable (find that in many of the other SL “big” designers), not involved in the “omg i’m gonna pee myself and take a bottle of pills i’m so upset” drama, nor, “my son just took his first poop” drama and dribble, or much of what many think of when they think of the “faces” of SL designers and the “fashionista” world.
So my hat’s off to Tenshi, be she friend or foe of Callie, this is great news for SL, as a whole, and seems like Callie is a girl who’s head is on straight and won’t be saying dribble in interviews, and seems like from what I’ve gathered, is quite respected among those who are quite respectable in this community.
Callie, if you happen to read these comments, just remember, the “haters”, “jealous”, and “envious” will now be coming out of the woodwork dear… ignore them, keep being yourself, and I can’t wait for the chance to meet you…
You being in Maxim, was a huge thing, and I applaud the herald for keeping us informed about ALL the things happening in SL, I’m surprised the bigger fashion blogs didn’t cover this, nor the Metaverse… so Herald, my hat’s off to you as well…
This is BIG news!!! Fashion or not!

Eh? (based on your ill grammar, Prok didn’t say anything) Indeed that Callie is a great gal, very kind with me… but Prok never was kind with me long before I opened my mouth. Wasn’t trashing her, but suggested that Prok should use her fashion because… you know? Callie’s has a better taste than Prok and you(Tenshi) put together.
You realize Prok has personally issue and Callie doesn’t?
Oh… and you too, Tenshi, personally issue.

I found this article interesting. The notices on the war between various army groups? Useless and uninteresting.
Lets concentrate on the real interesting topics of SL right?

i remember when callie arrived in SL. her sense of style was immediately apparent in the interiors she designed for the castle at Shivar. i may be wrong, but i think the interiors of shivar were her first big project in SL. we get compliments everyday on these interiors.
there are a lot of people designing cookie cutter clothes in SL. among the designers that i know about, who are NOT doing that are, along with callie:
acedia albion
kali byrd
kinyo nino
nonna hedges
bare rose
some designers with big reputations are kind of resting on their laurels, i think.
i don’t mind spending 3K for a great dress. i do mind spending 200L for the standard low cut corset style mini dress with the obligatory homage a BDSM.
whatever

Yup, that’s the idea… but where’s your rebuttal for the fashion statement?
Popster said “Seriously Nacon, what country are you from?”
Well… if it’s english, should be around America, but with self-poor grammar should make it fun.
(What difference does it make? America is filled with idiots too.)
