Hanze Melnitz – Post 6 Man

by Alphaville Herald on 04/08/07 at 12:16 am

[The Post 6 weekly feature is dedicated to exploring the range of metaverse human (and furry and robot) experience - with Marilyn Murphy as spiritual guide, visionary, and photographer. Marilyn is of course, the publisher of Players - SL's in-world erotica magazine. This week, Hanze Melnitz shows us how role, place, and responsibility define the psyche - and physique - of a Gorean warrior and master. - the Editrix]

Perhaps not the best written books, Not the worst either. Ask most people outside of SL “What is Gor” they will have no clue, However such a small thing, is so huge, such an Innocuous series of books has effected the lives of so many, an idea, a philosophy of honor and steel. Thus is gor. An entire universe set out in the 26 books of the chronicles of counter earth series.

Tal Men and Women of Earth, I hope when you read this you shall understand more of Gor. Outside the game I am from Gainesville Florida, Who lives the Gorean lifestyle. Within I am Hanze Melnitz, Admiral (Head warrior) of port kar.

It took me some time of wandering, exploring, dabbling here and there, vampires, BDSM, War sims to find where I belong in second life. To discover something called Gor.

I knew I was a master, long before I found Gor. Some people ask me “Why do you live the way you do? Why are you a master?” the simple answer is “I know no other way to be, I am what I am, I am master”.

The first and most common Misconception about Gor is that we are Misogynistic, which is not true. Women of all kinds are our greatest treasures, from the free companions who birth our heirs, who spend an endless life with us, to the slave girls who act as our prized possessions, the outlet for the most carnal and brutal urges.

Han6

I myself have found the love of my life, in and out of Second life, My Ideal Gorean mate. I have taken her as close as a Gorean man be to a freewoman, i have taken her as my free companion. A free companion is more or less a wife, in a very traditional role. Expected to tend to the mans property and “House”(Family) when he is not present. Expected to tend to his needs, to serve him in whatever he would wish of her and expected to bear his children.

I came to my Home Stone more than a year ago, the place I call home is port Kar. Home too many scummy pirate and outlaw types. Yet with a high adherence to the books, and a quality of role-play that is difficult to find, I felt welcome. Friends were quick in coming as were enemies. Within Gor, you will make many enemies, and many friends, or you shall make neither friends nor enemies.

Han5

As a warrior it is my job to protect the city, uphold its legal codes and protect its property. Starting at the bottom of the ranks last fall, I am now the head of the warriors caste and odd position to find myself in to start with.

But overtime you learn your role, your place, the responsibilities of your rank, The results of every single action. You learn the knowledge the books of Gor contain, if you are willing to seek out such knowledge, if you are willing to change the way you think, if you are willing to grasp a concept so foreign to those of earth. A world that is, as the title implies, is counter to earth.

That is the world I live in, In and out of second life, a word of masters and slaves, Free women and Panthers, Warriors and outlaws. A world called Gor.

…i’m sorry, but swords and erections just don’t mix – that’s an accident waiting to happen…

Of course, when he’s in the heat of battle, he has a raging hard on as well.

You ought to be careful with that second picture; both weapons exposed at the same time… a slip and you’ll lose one of them.

I’ve never been able to look at a SL erection without giggling. Oh, humanity! How silly you are.

Men are masters, and keeping women as worthless slaves… and you use the word ‘honor’?
You better use the word ‘Shame’ instead.

While I have had my problems with Gor, some of which are well documented in other sections of the Herald, I know from other people that Hanze is an honorable man and one of the men that makes exploitive slavers stand out as pathetic by comparison.

“Men are masters, and keeping women as worthless slaves… and you use the word ‘honor’?

I don’t believe that’s how he described it, actually his words were, “…the slave girls who act as our prized possessions…”

Not to defend Gor, quite the opposite, but Hanze seems like a nice enough guy. ^_^ I tried rping in a Gor sim and witnessed some of the most atrocious rp and powergaming I’ve ever seen legitimized by “well the men always win in the books so it’s ok” reasoning, so I left and never looked back. I’ve always been amazed at the sheer number of Gor sims compared to other rp sims, and some of the builds/setups are quite good.

I love it when people of limited intelligence try to be articulate and dramatic. This is an excellent example, good job!

Gorean is just a mini high school with a lot of books. I role played in Gor for 5 months before giving it up. Seeing the admins(ubars or whatever lol) always get there way, but most of them don’t even read the Gor books. All Gor is about really is “If you are rich you get to do all you want.” The men are super nerds that never had a girlfriend and the women are just groupies trying to be the best sluts they can be without AIDS. I am not saying I am the best person in the world nor the smartest, but to all gor women “All because you type with proper grammar doesn’t mean you are smarter then the best person.”

You ain’t a warrior, dipshit. Like all Gorean scum, you’re a boy so completely ball-less you can’t get it up unless a woman pretends to be a slave for you.

Note the giant array of weaponry in the first photo… Clearly compensating for something missing in real life.

Just correcting a few errors in the article:

“Outside the game I am from Gainesville Florida, I weigh 400 pounds, and live in my parents basement (I call it the man-hole, where great feats of honor and steel take place)”

“Some people ask me “Why do you live the way you do? Why are you a master?” the simple answer is “Because women won’t love me unless I force them too.”.”

“The first and most common Misconception about Gor is that we are Misogynistic, which is not true. The correct term is ‘Chauvinist’, we treat our women as inferior property.”

“I knew I was a master, long before I found Gor. Some people ask me “Why do you live the way you do? Why are you a master?” the simple answer is “I know no other way to be, I am what I am, I am master”.”

“Friends were quick in coming as were enemies. Within Gor, you will make many enemies, and many friends, or you shall make neither friends nor enemies.”

This is the kind of empty, painful and superfluous writing style which made me chuck Tarnsman of Gor after the first 100 pages. Please don’t be a John Norman..

Wow, so many negative comments. All I will say is we negate things only because we DON’T KNOW them. Life later arranges for us to experience these things so we can come to the point of understanding and accepting, even loving. It is like when a skiny person cryticizes a fat one, then years later becomes fat himself and then being fat is not that bad anymore… I know silly example but shows the mechanism. A year ago I attended a class on gor. It was quite interesting. I was open enough to see that if love is involved in it, it has a right to work well for all the people involved… and no I did not desire to be a slave at that time, quite the opposite. I was like, me, a slave? NEVER!!! hmmm a year has passed and here I am, a slave on Gor and loving it (it is in SL). All the things in life we say NO to, we are prone to experience later so we can move from negative to a positive meaning, opinion etc. Look at your past and see what you called stupid, ugly, pointles… what you called a negative word and look how many of those things you had to learn later in life till the point of acceptance at least.

…so don’t attack anything, this only shows your ingonarance, nothing more. The people who live Gor are happy, some stay longer, some shorter in it. They all get what they need and thats important. What I learn on Gor? My lesson is just starting. Yes I call it my lesson, as any other lesson in life that helps me to build my character and qualities. Sometimes we know very well what we gonna learn at the very beginning, sometimes we relaize it at the end. For now I know that I learn to please others not on my terms, does not matter how, important is I learn this ability and it is not the easy one. So don’t look down at me because I am a slave on Gor, I am proud I can do it. That shows my strenght and my quality. Secret is really easy, when you do something with love, you do it with joy but thats not attainable for all.
Love & Peace to all <3
