Today I discovered virtual inflatable dolls. Usually weird things in SL don’t give me pause but this did. I had thought that real inflatable dolls looked the way they did because they are cheap to make and they approximate a human form about as much as something can when you making bodies out of air and vinyl. But apparently I was wrong. In a world where you can build anything you want it appear that some people want to make it with a virtual simulation of a vinyl sex toy.

Well, it makes sense. There’s a certain subgenre of doll fetishism that does revolve specifically around lower grade dolls. You can even buy (real) vinyl outfits that will let you look like one.
Not to mention, why spend the time making an in world sculpty realdoll when you can slap a few spheres and torii together and make a guaranteed niche-fill profit, both for fetishists AND in world Bachelor/Bachelorette parties.

Ummm… Ok. Different strokes and all. Though looking at the third picture which mentions an AO, shape, skin and animations I suspect that it’s designed to let an avie become a blow up sex doll.
Which of course is a whole additional world of “Ummm… Ok”

wow….you know, this is the kind of thing that makes PN’s hearts just glow with happyness. yet another reason to attack second life. real life people that plays a game. in the game you can be any thing. they chose to be a representation of a real life fake representation of a real person. some one please explain while i go and get my crack pipe….i think i will need it soon.

Well said, allthough it is much, much more.
Our biggest erogenous zone still remains our imagination… so yeah one cannot do more physically then type one handed with a box of kleenex, that doesnt mean that there’s nothing more to it.
And yeah, being a sex toy *literally* (as opposed to just behaving like one) is indeed about the most submissive you can go. I certainly see why this can be interresting for some.

OK, now I have Neil Innes’s classic song “Randy Raquel” stuck in my head. (If you haven’t heard it, you should track it down. It’s oddly touching, in the same way as Was (Not Was)’s “Zaz Turned Blue,” and for the same reason: it’s played absolutely straight.)
It may start with a few spheres and torii, but I have to think that someone will figure out how to animate the inflation process, and then realize they needn’t stop at human size. Watch for giant inflatable sex dolls coming to your sim soon…

Someone had a Thread some time ago on Dolcet Play in SL, and i said i had researched it for a Book i am writing on Horror/Sci-Fi.
During the time i was doing that work, I ALSO researched a Novel and Movie (Made in the Mid 70′s, and remade as a comedy in the Mid 90′s) Called “The Stepford Wives”. Long story short the Husbands of the small town of Stepford were having their Wives Replaced by Similacra that were Physicly Closer to the Ideal, as well as being more Docile, Domestic, and Obedient (The original woman of course was eventually disposed of) On the Net there are a series of Erotic comics Based upon That precept, they are even named for the novel. In these comics, and one panel art works women have been Surgicaly altered to make them into living Sex toy’s. The procedures are extreme, and the end results turn the Women into Sexual Charicatures of Women. You may have heard at one time or another the Disparaging terms about Women; “Life support for P*ssy” or “Breasts that Talk”. These comics Take that kind of objectification of Women to That Bizarre extreme.
I mention this Only because these Avies remind me of that sort of thing (I’ll be adding this current information to my researches) I make no value Judgement on it, But add the information here in the name of broadening Discussion.

Maria, for your project you should look at the horror film “Love Object”, made by a former student of mine named Robert Parigi. It involves similar themes but baked into a canonical horror movie.
