Angel Magellan and Gregg Barrymore, Grand Duke and Duchess of Antiquity

by Lavinia Carver

Interview
The Grand Duke Gregg Barrymore and his wife, the Grand Duchess Angel Magellan, in front of their future home in Antiquity

Angel Magellan: Your Grace, Miss Carver from the SL Herald.
Gregg Barrymore: Good day to you Lady Carver.
Lavinia Carver: Thank you kind sir.

Gregg Barrymore: Please have a seat, make yourself comfortable.
Lavinia Carver: Thank you.

Lavinia Carver: Where did the inspiration for Antiquity come from?
Gregg Barrymore: Well the grand duchess and I are both history buffs. So it seemed natural to make our home from the historic past, and the community grew from there. We started with half a sim and today are at 21 sims and growing.

Lavinia Carver: It is quite impressive, I must say.
Gregg Barrymore: Well we are quite lucky to have so many good souls to make there homes and businesses around us to enrich our SL experience.

Lavinia Carver: Any particular reason why there is the Pirate-Antiquarian feud?
Gregg Barrymore: feud?

Lavinia Carver: Well, it would seem that there is a constant battle between the Pirates of Antiquity and the Government of Antiquity. It is just my impression, but if I am incorrect, I apologize.
Gregg Barrymore: Are you referring to role play?
Lavinia Carver: Yes.

Gregg Barrymore: Ahh well pirates will be pirates and our naval forces must keep them at bay. Lol.
Lavinia Carver: Yes, they can be troublesome at times.
Gregg Barrymore: Indeed but there’s nothing like a good battle with them.

Lavinia Carver: Yes, I was going to come sometime and watch one of the famed battles, I hear they are spectacular.
Gregg Barrymore: Indeed they are. I’ve sent many of them and been sent by many of them to Davy Jones’ locker

Lavinia Carver: Could you tell me how the hierarchy works?
Gregg Barrymore: Well the grand duchess and I are basically the founders and are available to help out as requested. The Governor Angus Graham Cealwin takes care of most of the issues that may come up. As well as our European Liaisons Arnya Hastings and Drake Moyer cover European hours.

Lavinia Carver: I see.
Gregg Barrymore: And we have what we call Mentors that take new folks under their wings to help them out. Mentors are old time Residents.
Angel Magellan: Rory Debruyere is head the mentor for the pirate community and Malibu DuPont for the townsfolk.

Lavinia Carver: Alright.
Gregg Barrymore: As well as Slam Mcmahan and Marlee Laval who basically are our pirate liaisons.

Lavinia Carver: So, how does one get involved with Antiquity, are there any groups that they need to sign up with or anything of the like?
Gregg Barrymore: well we started with one group, which is open for anyone to join resident or not. Revolutionary Properties. This enables notices and chat. But many sub groups have sprung up like the Antiquity battle group and many others. One just has to basically show up around antiquity and one of our greeters or residents will find you and help you out in joining into our events or even just help you find a shop you may be looking for.

Lavinia Carver: Are you happy with the progress that you have made with Antiquity?
Gregg Barrymore: Well it’s gone beyond anything the grand duchess and I ever imagined when we set out. I am ecstatic about the way things have gone.

Lavinia Carver: What plans do you have for Antiquity’s future?
Gregg Barrymore: Well first I’ll say, while we have basic plans and concepts I’ll share with you, Antiquity tends to take on a life of its own as far as the future goes. Many approach us with their wants an ideas for historical areas and we normally say yes. We have just added recently 2 medieval sims, and we plan for a Civil War era area. That’s been in the works for months. We have some residents that just started up two Napoleonic sims. And of course our pirate areas constantly grow. I’d like to eventually set up some old European city gothic sims. There has been some interest in that. We basically go with the flow of interest.

Lavinia Carver: I also noticed the Texas area, was that one of these ideas at one time, or was that original?
Gregg Barrymore: Well Texas came to us from long time residents and fit right into our plans for a Wild West set of sims. If it’s historical we love it. Lol. Hard to say no to anything historical.
Lavinia Carver: *laugh*

Gregg Barrymore: We want to do as much history as possible but tend to have to wait for interested parties to assist us.
Lavinia Carver: Alright, that about sums things up.

Lavinia Carver: Thank you very much for the interview. It was wonderful.
Gregg Barrymore: Would you like a current map of antiquity ma’am?

Lavinia Carver: That would be wonderful. Thank you
Gregg Barrymore: But be forewarned, more sims could pop up at moments notice. Lol.

Lavinia Carver: It has been a pleasure meeting with you.
Gregg Barrymore: Ahh the pleasure has been all mine.

Lavinia Carver: I hope to see you around as I will be frequenting the area.
Gregg Barrymore: Excellent

Lavinia Carver: Good day.
Gregg Barrymore: And good day to you
