The Herald’s own little Bunny Brickworks was bouncing down the bunny trail at the Hair Fair 2008, frolicking through the freebies and spending L$s like they were a fictional spacebux currency, until the fair turned foul. Here is how Bunny describes the scene:
This Bunny girl was strolling along hair fair, collecting freebies, buying some stuff. all nice! when suddenly a girl stood behind me. I am a profile whore and checked hers and it was like ‘I am a dirty slave and need punishment. anyone who wants to abuse me sexually, just send an IM, I deserve dirty treatment as you please’, and suddenly another chick showed up

OMG, you guys did not really publish my little incident! *blushes to a deep red and stomps with her foot on the ground* That’s what you get when you share your dirty little secrets with journalists … But hell, yes, I stick to what I said and also to my blog. And the expressions ‘silly cow’ and ‘cumslut’ have in the meantime been widely integrated into my friends’ convos, needless to say that there’s a huge prim cow standing in our frontyard now, free to use and abuse for everyone passing by regardless of their race, gender or sex.

Helke has been made out to look like some sort of BDSM mistress, I think its important to point out that she’s not into BDSM at all, and to my eyes is being griefed here. This chatlog is more than a bit out of context. She doesn’t even know Willow Replacement, and only came across her at the Hair Fair that day.
Although I am not any great lover of Gor (though I have nothing against it, as long as it remains unobtrusive) I see nothing wrong with BDSM either between consensual adults, have dear friends in the lifestyle (and they are mature enough to keep what should be kept discreet – discreet or in places where that sort of roleplay is appropriate), and yes I *completely* agree that sort of roleplay has no business going on in open chat at such a public event as Hair Fair – take it to IM or get a room. But from talking to Helke, seems to me that this was griefing, with insult added to injury with this article. Helke deserves an apology.
But if someone in my shop walked past using profanity in open chat who were shopping for collars and the like, I’d have booted you too. For language and harrassment. Your behaviour is what the problem was. I see no profanity from anyone else but you. If someone is harrassing someone – file an AR, or complain to the organisers. Don’t resort to profanity at a public event in open chat, and then scream the victim when someone within earshot complains. Most likely someone overheard you and didn’t even read Ms. Replacement’s profile, and was offended by your language and filed a complaint. There’s of course the offchance that the offender complained about you herself – oldest trick of the book of griefers.

Personally I find every other SL e-newspaper to be nothing whatsoever other than boring shit I don’t care about. SLHerald, on the other hand, is a fantastic drama-pump: A beautiful extension of the premier Trolling platform that is Second Life.

Not a big fan of actually READING the stories you’re commenting on huh? Because that’s completely not what happened. Willow was the one RPing by dragging random strangers into her sex games, and Bunny called her a spineless slut, and got banned for that. The whole “she got banned for RP” really is just trying to pass this off, it’s harrassment if anything
I can deal with the people who have the weird sexual fantasies in SL just fine, but i’m with Bunny, it’s pretty annoying when they need to drag other people into their fantasies, because they’re not happy unless everyone is treating them like a slave and they get to treat everyone else like their owners.
And yeah, Bunny, don’t tell anything to herald people that you don’t want to risk being published.

According to the brief transcript within the article, willow was not harassing anyone and was even getting the sort of response you would expect to see in a proper Role Play environment where the slave is being told she does not have to or have the right to call another master or Mistress (meaning the person they are talking to is not their owner).
Artemis – try a bit of reading comprehension next time. Bunny was in the wrong. Period.
I do not give a flying fuck who you are or what your opinion of a person’s Role Play is – if you are going to ‘join’ in a scene you had better damn well remember that information in a profile is NOT known to your character. In addition to that you must still follow all rules within whatever area you are Role Playing in.
Bunny got what she deserved and would probably have gotten a bit worse had it been me. I do not tolerate such bullshit.

Uh… Hair Fair isn’t a proper Role Play environment. It’s a giant mall of hair styles where the proceeds go to a charity.

Personally, I think all three of them should have been kicked from Hair Fair. There are many places for roleplay on the grid. Hair Fair, with all the lag, is not one of them. If one absolutely cannot refrain from roleplaying at any time, keep it in IM so that others are not forced to participate.

I am surprised about the lack of reading comprehension among our dear estimated readers. Maybe Kris should have tried to present this whole situation in a cartoon strip. Reading and understanding two or three captions would make life much easier for some people as it seems. If there any people out there with good graphics/drawing skills AND a clear idea of what the above situation was about, could you please give it a try and produce something nice for those Demerol babies who obviously have the attention span and intellectual capacity of a goldfish? Thank you, your help is very much appreciated.
OK, let’s have a look at the facts:
1. I visted the Hair Fair. TRUE. Well, it was a complete disappointment from my POV but I was there, it’s a fact.
2. I was standing at one booth when two female avis showed up. TRUE. The hair shown there was quite nice, little skulls and all included but let’s not strive from the subject.
3. The above mentioned conversation between the two female avis started – in public chat. True. Just a quick summary for those whose attention has already dropped to almost zero by now: those TWO were talking. I was just standing there admiring hair.
4. I read Willow’s profile. TRUE. I tend to do that whenever people say something incredibly stupid or interesting in public chat. Sometimes it’s an avi’s appearance that makes me read the profile, sometimes I am just bored and do it. Speaking of profiles … would you people please pay a little more attention to them? Cause I am really fed up with ugly snapshots taken on a free sex beach and picks listing Candy, Mandy, Sandy and Lateeeeeesha, your bestest bestest friends and Trevor, the love of your life, the reason you log on – whose pick will soon be replaced by Jason, Muscleman89, Ihumpwhales and so on and so on. Again striving from the subject, I apologize.

Totally out of context, just wanted to catch your attention again, sorry for that. On with the facts.
5. I was disgusted by both, the submissive behavior of Willow in the chat and the little text in her profile. Even more by her referring to herself as ‘silly cow’ although I quickly came to the conclusion that she was right and thus probably smarter than I had first assumed. TRUE. It just makes me sick to see people getting into that crap because their moms didn’t love them enough or their daddies loved them a bit too much and they take their shit into this game, platform, virtual world, simulation or whatever name you want to give SL.
6. I dropped a comment. It was ‘goddamn, grow a spine, fucking cumslut’. TRUE. It was a rude comment. TRUE. I made it in public chat. TRUE. I have a dirty sailor mouth. TRUE.
7. After this rude comment, I just walked on to the next booth. TRUE. Nuff said.
8. About a minute or two after my comment, my lil avi was sent home with a pretty farewell note some of you might know too well. ‘You have been ejected and banned ….’ TRUE.
So much about all the little truths in the story.
NOT TRUE:
1. I RP’ed. Hell, all that *softly runs her fingers down the cumslut’s milky white breasts’ is by far too tiring for me. I joined SL to have fun, to relax and to be creative. Boring, eh?
2. I moaned, bitched and complained about me being banned. Errrm .. no! I am not the kind of person to moan, bitch and complain about anything happening in SL. It’s a fucken game, people. Stop taking SL and yourselves so damn serious. In fact, this whole ban thing was great fun and caused a lot of laughter for me and my friends.
SUMMARY (for those whose attention is down to perfectly zero now and whose eyes wander back to the above article to see what the whole thing was about):
Two girls have their creepy BDSM RP in public chat. No sexual harassment.
I don’t RP but express my disgust in public chat. Sexual harassment.
GOT IT? Cool.

Bunny really shouldn’t be insulting people just because they make a choice that she doesn’t like. People can roleplay how they like, and it’s none of her business. I might not be a fan of furries, but I don’t call them names. Maybe they shouldn’t be doing it in public, but if they want to, it’s not her business – it’s the business of the people running the Hair Fair. It was right of them to eject her, because the harassment was uncalled for.
Bunny should be ashamed of herself.

personally i think it was not a very nice thing to do… no where in her profile did she state that she is to be called “fucking cumslut”. she refered to herself as silly cow because she is probably involved in humiliation bdsm with her master/mistress. people who are involved in bdsm are not always roleplayers. some of them live the life 24 hours a day.. this means that they will address everyone as their master or mistress has asked them to. it is polite to accept their behaviour and allow them to call you miss or mister or sir or ma’am, etc… i live on a bdsm island (because it is owned by a good friend of mine and my boyfriend) and although i do not practice it 24/7 like some, i do have friends that do. they call me miss, or mistress, and i deal with it even though personally i don’t like to be called mistress as i am not a dom and see that as a dominant term. it is protocol. they were doing nothing of harm, nothing rude, nothing obscene… i don’t understand why bunny felt the need to call that girl the term that she used…
i’m not exactly sure why i am typing all this up since this is of course the herald and i can’t expect others to be informed or educated on things.
i’ve said my peace, this sort of thing irritates me… to me it was verbal abuse being hurled at someone who didn’t deserve it.

Just a quick note on Freedom of Speech- it must work for all or it does not work at all. As long as Willow is free to say what she wants, then Bunny must also be free to say what she wants. If you are to silence Bunny, you must silence Willow. Frankly, I found Willow’s chat much more offensive than Bunny’s; not to mention that it was directed at an innocent who was passing by.

So basically, I outright say she was in the wrong twice, and then I say a comment that is “as good as saying she wasn’t in the wrong” once, and that cancels that out? That makes sense.
What that means there, for the reading impaired, is that I agree with the sentiment, not the execution. In terms of her banning, they had every right too, and it was a harassment issue albeit a light one. But in terms of the reason Bunny spoke up, I’m on her side, that stuff is annoying.
I don’t agree with the Hair Fair’s execution either, Bunny gave one harassing comment and walked away, a comment using vocabulary that that girl in another context probably asks people to use on her. And the Hair Fair admin banned without warning, hesitation, or giving cause. This was an issue that could have been solved just as easily if not easier by IMing Bunny and giving her a warning about harassment.

The entire thing is read as a complaint for the way this story was written as well as tacit agreement with bunny’s position.
The closest you come is admitting that Bunny was guilty of harassment.

This is not, nor has it ever been a ‘debate’. It is simple. Nothing in your written words states that you thought Bunny was in the wrong. It was not stated, it was not really hinted at.
What you meant to write and what you wrote were different. Plain and simple. Choose your words a bit more carefully next time and own up to when you’ve has a disconnect with what you wrote and what you meant to write.

It just so happens that Willow knows Helke quite well. Willow is an alt of an avatar Helke was a Mistress to for quite some time. Whether Helke was aware of who Willow was I cannot say, but note that she didn’t say who the hell are you? ‘nuf said about Willow’s “griefing”, she was saying hi to someone she has known for a long time.

You can discuss and dissect the logs and what happened for years to come but that wont make any difference at all.
Was it a good action to ban, or not? You guys might care, but I seriously doubt that the hair fair’s admin is even reading this article at all, and even if so, probably wont change his/her mind.

it seems it is high time for “silly cow” to comment on the incident… “silly cow” is a degrading submissive term of which i have come accustomed to using in reference to self, and i must confess that in addition to referring to all Dominants as either Master or Mistress unless instructed to do otherwise, i do tend to make a habbit of referring to Free Persons as Master/Mistress, even those i have just met (apparently a potentially problematic habbit). i assure all those who read this article, that i do not currently have any alts, nor do i intend to create any in the future. Furthermore, i do not recall ever meeting Miss Helke Duettmann before that day at Hair Fair when her gorgeous appearance caught my eye, and she seemed so wonderful and exciting that i just had to say hello; therefore, it seems highly unlikely that Miss Duettmann has ever been into BDSM at all much less been a long time Mistress to anyone in the past…
These attemnpts to slander and discredit Miss Duettmann are pathetic; obviously an attack by apparent enemies of Miss Deuttmann or those who are jealous of Miss Duettmann’s success in the fashion business.
