Post 6 Grrrl — Tuesday Bekkers

by Alphaville Herald on 13/01/09 at 9:14 pm

[Youwant to feature the 'lil ole me'? Those words made me laugh. There shewas, an avatar with that certain something in her look, the way shetalked and reacted when I asked her to be a Post 6 model. Our photoshoot was certainly the longest in my Post 6 history but also the mostversatile - from the snow-covered Cu Mara to post-apocalyptic SIC, fromthe whimsically cute Opar sim her friend had created to EDO Japan. Thisevening was one of the most delightful experiences in the last fewweeks and when she says she's a little anti-social, don't believe asingle word! Tuesday Bekkers is one of the most genuine and modestpeople I had the pleasure to meet in Second Life - Bunny Brickworks]

Staring at my keyboard I'mwondering to myself how I got into this mess. Ah, yes… I remember. I washanging out at Hyperborea sandbox trying to unpack the 1000 and 1 stilluntouched Christmas gifts from Grendel's Children and attempting to organize thatblack hole I call my inventory when Pixeleen Mistral from the Second LifeHerald approached me. After a brief introduction and compliments about myavatar she told me she knows someone who may be very interested in my"look".

And then there was Bunny…

A couple of chats and alengthy photo session later and here we are.  Or should I say here I am -definitive proof that a SL nobody could end up a Post 6 Grrrl. I don't build. Idon't make clothes. I don't own land or a business. I don't run any clubs orhead any organizations. I'm not a photographer, painter or sculptor.

I'm not a member of the SLglitterati or "in" crowd and I didn't know either Pixeleen or Bunnyprior to this experience. Dare I say I'm not even a regular SL Herald reader?*hangs head in shame* And yet I'm now a Post 6 Grrrl. What a (second)life!

TuesdayBekkers02

I'm not going to bore youwith details about how I got here (I learned about SL from Reader's Digest!) orwhat happened to me in SL prior to now (not much exciting). I will tell youthat since I have started SL I, like most, have evolved quite a bit and figuredout how to make this metaverse my own.

Two things that I havealways appreciated in SL are well-done sims (I love AM Radio) and well puttogether avatars. Since I don't know how to build anything of worth I turned tothe one thing I could manipulate and use to express myself – my avatar. If I have a whimsical idea or see something interesting that catches my eye Igo with it.  My friends never know what I'm going to look like next. I'm always on the lookout for my next latest and greatest look. The moreexotic the better. The only rule I follow is that my avi is always female.

TuesdayBekkers03

Despite some of myoutlandish incarnations I'm really a very quiet, mostly reserved, person. Awallflower if you will. I frequently get asked if everything is all rightbecause I don't talk a whole lot in local chat. Please don't mistake this forunfriendliness.  Most of the time I'm just more comfortable with IM. AsAbraham Lincoln once said, "Better to remain silent and be thought a foolthan to speak out and remove all doubt."

There are many things aboutSL that I love first and foremost being the wonderful friends that I've madehere. Without them SL wouldn't hold my attention for very long.  You guysknow who you are and I thank you all for being here with me. I enjoy hangingout with my friends, exploring new places and feverishly hunting for the latestfreebies.

I revel in the artistry anddigital craftsmanship of my fellow SL residents. Whether it is a beautifullybuilt sim or an amazingly detailed pair of prim shoes I view each finelycrafted creation as a work of art forged with care and love by its creator. Ofcourse not all artists are created equal but Second Life truly has somemasters.

With the good always comesthe bad and so I have my SL dislikes also.  I don't spend much time in theclub scene anymore. Too much pointless chat and gesture spamming (there's aspecial place in hell reserved for the person who created that"Hooooo!" gesture).  Griefers suck as does voice chat. Kiddyavis are just plain creepy (lurking pedophiles anyone?). And of course the lagissues can be vexing. But these negatives are tiny compared to the overallpositive experience I have had here.

TuesdayBekkers04

So that's it I guess. I'm not sure what else to tell you. Not very deep nor very eloquent I know, butthen what did you expect from a SL nobody? *smiles and winks*

Tuesday out…

I feel proud that a Post 6 was made like this. Here Bunny I tore you a new one and showed how much of a disgusting filth pile Post6 had become with people looking to sell their wares or kick up to your snatch and the FIRST Post6 you feature has these words in it:

“I don’t build. I don’t make clothes. I don’t own land or a business. I don’t run any clubs or head any organizations. I’m not a photographer, painter or sculptor.”

Is this not absolutely amazing timing? Or are you going to pull one of those ‘coincidence’ lines on me. Come on BunBun. Say it. Say I personally influenced you to go out and find an average person like Tuesday. Say I got you to give someone a chance at a Post6 that actually DESERVED it.

Yes everyone you heard me I said that Tuesday deserves to be Post6 because she is here not because of who she is but because of herself alone. Congratulations Tuesday. May you herald in a better year.

    Bunny. … Say it.

First of all, as I’m happy to call myself a friend of Tuesday I can’t be neutral commenting her article … *winks*

Yes, I’m impressed by people that build beautiful sims, design breathtaking clothes or write unbelievable scripts … but what would SL be without people like Tuesday?

She calls herself a wallflower, I tell you she is a daisy!!!

Love the second photo the most but what a wonderful spread and yes, a great person beyond the pixels. And Professor C so brilliant and cunning in the way he has totally influenced you Bunny. Take a bow, Professor! Oh, yes! You’ve already taken one. Oh, wait! You weren’t bowing! You’re kissing your own ass! How clever!

“I don’t build. I don’t make clothes. I don’t own land or a business. I don’t run any clubs or head any organizations. I’m not a photographer, painter or sculptor.”

I kind of agree with Professor C. It was nice to see a Post 6 person that wasn’t an expert content creator or land baron or something like that. Not that I thought there was anything wrong with previous people showcased, on the contrary, it was kind of nice to see a couple people I knew.

I’ve always thought that your second life was more influenced by the people you meet more than the stuff they make, and that you don’t need to be a great builder to be interesting:)

“the black hole I call my inventory” hahaha, good times. :) I really enjoyed reading your article Tuesday and am so happy for you and that you get to be a Post 6 model. *HIGH FIVE x5* :P you deserve it! I definitely agree with Bunny’s intro that you are very much a genuine and real person, which I find to be quite refreshing and unique these days. it doesn’t matter if you don’t know how to build something or aren’t in the “in” crowd, but what does matter is that you have a great heart and your an awesome friend to talk to. :) congrats again Tuesday, you’ll do great! *hugs*

I met Tuesday in a store shortly after I came to SL, she gave me my first AO and made me promise to always make sure my hair fit my head. I thought then that she was a great person and I have tried to help others like she helped me, plus make them promise about the hair thing too :)

Congrats Tuesday beautiful photos and great interview.

Nice to hear from a fellow nobody. Too many people are wrapped up with who they supposedly are and who and what they know. Cheers.
