A man dedicated to elevate SL art and culture
by Alessandra Narayan
Do you remember studying “la renaissance”? In the XIV century, a bit all across Europe, but mostly in beautiful Italy – land of artists as Michael Angelo or Leonardo da Vinci – wealthy men with a taste for art helped sculptors, painters and others to develop their art by supporting their needs and costs.
We also can find one patron right here in Second Life: his name is Tommy Patron and he offers space on one of his sims for artists to sell their art without having to pay for vendors to so. Completely free of costs, in Ginsberg Erotical Grand Gallery you can find the most sexy artistic paintings and photos you’ll ever find in SL but this isn’t the only gallery Mr. Parrott owns in SL.
Alessandra Narayan (AN) – Is it true people can sell their art here for free?
Tommy Parrott (TP) – If they meet the criteria of The Ginsberg ARTS Center, yes. I don't charge rent or commission, but will accept donations via the tip jar.
AN – You admire erotic art?
TP – No but many others do and I like to cater to almost all types.
AN – Why do you have this exhibition then? If you don't enjoy it that much…
TP – Because art IS art. To deny artisans the opportunity to display their wares is simply wrong (UNLESS it is child pornography). Art is in the eye of the beholder as they say.
AN – What's the criteria to be able to sell art in your estate?
TP – It must be tasteful, NOT be HUMAN pornography, and be pleasant to the eye, and have elements of professionalism in the artwork.
AN – Any more projects related to art besides the Erotical Grand?
TP – The Grand Gallery: one of the 10 largest privately owned galleries in Second Life (& one of Sasun Steinbeck’s Top Ten Galleries) housing over 750 pieces of art on 12 floors for one’s viewing pleasure.
AN – Besides art, what else you like in SL? Any main activity? Real estate for example?
TP – The estate also houses the ULTRA & Perfect wave series; Very realistic Ocean Waves and Swells, along with 100's of other creations like the newest SuRRoundDome; the Private Beach series, a self contained beach in a sphere for those relaxing moments and escape from the hustle & bustle of SecondLife.
AN – And enjoying love as well… I see that you’re partnered…
TP – Yes, my Second Life wife is also my RL counterpart of 25 years!

I thought doing something tasteful will case a sim to crash. Clearly this guy hasn’t figured it out that like the internets SL is for wallowing in the darkside of the human psyche. Heck, what resident is going to buy something that doesn’t allow them to attack or fornicate with another avatar?
Who knows, maybe his galley is nothing more than pictures of Herm-Furry kajiras in art poses.

I must say I agree with, Emperor Norton hears a who?,
If SL residents cna not fuck on it, or blow it up seems like w\ever your venture it is doomed to fail within 6 months. janeforyou Barbara also brings up a valid point as well, Watching things blow up above a Free sex sim for lesbians and digital crossdressers does sound like it would draw a crowd.

I have know Tommy for about a year, he is extremely talented, dedicated, helpful, and just an all around good person. I interviewed him for a SL Herald article last year, I was impressed then, and still hold him in high regards on my friends list.
