New SL Post 6 Grrrl Photographer Announced

Additional staff photographer position remains open

I am sad to report that Bunny Brickworks has taken an indefinite leave from the Herald Post 6 Grrrl photographer position due to real life commitments. While Bunny has promised to contribute to the Herald occasionally, we agreed that – at least for now – it was time to pass the camera on to someone else.
While we will all miss Bunny, I hope everyone will join me in welcoming the charming and vivacious Delora Starbrook to the Herald. Delora will be taking over the Second Life Post 6 Grrrrl, Guy, Furry, and Robot desk, and has decided to feature herself in her Herald debut. Second Life residents interested in modeling for Delora should contact her directly.
Now that the Second Life Post 6 Grrrls are good hands, what of the other worlds?
With an ever expanding metaverse reaching far beyond the walled garden of cyber delights that is Second Life, readers are demanding to see the sexiest avatars in not just Second Life, but in the OpenSim and other worlds. This may be too big a job for any one photographer to handle – no matter how many gin and tonics she has at her desk.
In keeping with the Alphaville Herald’s expanded coverage of the metaverse, I invite photographers working outside of the Second Life grid to contact me directly – pixeleen.mistral[at]gmail.com. I hope we will be able to run both a weekly Second Life and a second Post 6 Grrrl from outside SL – and let our readers decide who is teh sex.

Thank you very much Pixeleen. I loved the Post 6 and especially the wonderful people I met. Some of them have become close friends and the photo shoots were so fun-packed that the little stories could fill books.
I hope Delora enjoys this as much as I did. People, keep your applications coming!!!

When will you SLfags learn that they’re called ‘screenshots’ and not ‘photographs’?
A Photograph is an image created when light hits a material that reacts to collisions with photons, be that visible light or another area of the electromagnetic screenshot.
There are no photons in SL itself – the closest you could get to such a claim is that your monitor is firing photons at your face – but even that’s only if you’re using a CRT.
No photons = no photograph.
The process of grabbing the RGB value of each pixel in your graphics card/chipset’s memory has precisely dick in common with photography, aside from the fact that you get a picture out of it.

So, you concede then, that you are indeed trying to tell me that calling screenshots ‘photographs’ is not utterly stupid?
Equally stupid is your cliche belief that my head is ‘full of memes, and nothing else’ or that I am ‘immersed’ in a ‘virtual world’. SL is nothing but a Lego set to me, and quite frankly I’d prefer it if I could run it offline and build crap on my local machine rather than connecting to a network full of sex-crazed nitwits.
The worst thing about SL is that I have to share it with people like you, or for that matter, anyone atall, as Woodbury is just as choc-full of people whom I find myself positively allergic to any form of verbal contact with.
