Shelby Ziskey — Post 6 Grrrl

[Sometimes, lightning strikes the same place over and over. To find models who represent the incredibly diverse population of SL, I'm always dragging friends out to new places to scout for potential Post 6 models. One day I was out with a friend dancing at Devious Delights, some random club I found in search, and I spotted this week's Post 6 Grrl. Though the club was relatively empty, I then spotted two other knock-outs who will also be Post 6 models in the weeks ahead. There are never that many fantastic avatars in one club, so it was a surprise to me to read in Shelby's bio that the place has subsequently closed! Perhaps the janitors got tired of mopping up our drool. Anyhow, without further rambling by me, here is the gorgeous Shelby Ziskey. -Timothy Morpork]
Wow, I’ve been here for more than three years, and what a time it’s been. I hopped in game after reading about Anshe Chung in a magazine on a flight home from Boston and couldn’t wait to get home to log in. As far as online games go, my only experience was a beta tester for TSO and spent a lot of time building there, but never really experienced the social aspect of it because at that time I was traveling often for work.
I was expecting Second Life to be similar to TSO and found out quickly the culture here was MUCH different. In such an adult charged environment, flirting is all brand new again. I’ve met some extremely amazing people and some really lame people and have learned a lot about myself along the way.
I have to be doing something creative all the time and was immediately interested in building. I’ve also played around with photography and I taught myself how to use Photoshop. I think I’ve tried everything but scripting, and I’ll leave that to the professionals. I will say the shopping in SL has definitely curbed my RL shopping habit. I started a blog for fun, messing around with taking pretty pictures of things that catch my eye and aren’t blogged 50 times in the span of one hour on the fashion feed. Right now most of my energy is focused on my current build, the Salacious club on the Poppen sim. It’s a great place to hang out and was designed just for that purpose after Devious Delights closed their doors.
I think the one thing about SL that fascinates me most is the level of seriousness people take with their Second Lives. The more serious they take them the more I can’t help but to laugh. It’s a game and we’re here to explore, experiment and have fun. If you’re taking SL more serious than RL, it’s time for a reality check. Of course there are many exceptions to this opinion- such as people with RL restrictions that can have their lives enriched through an SL experience, or people that make their living here in SL with their creativity. No matter what your serious factor is, the game is fraught with drama and no matter what you say, you like a certain level of it otherwise you would have moved on already. I’m still here and I’m having a blast.

Shelby is one of my favorite people in SL! She’s sweet, smart, funny, creative and her av is dropdead gorgeous. She recently blew me away with her build at Salacious – it’s tastefully well done, very atmospheric and frequented by the same fun people who used to hang at Devious. WTG, Shel, you rock so hard!

Wait! Did Post 6 just turn back into a free advertising slot for people again? Didn’t we finally start to move away from this crap? Mr Morpork, when asking models to write a bit of text about themselves, you know you should edit it where necessary to prevent this kind of thing, right? Cronyism and provision of free advertising didn’t exactly help your predecessors in the role.

Like none of you ever has sex in SL. If you do, you pretend you’re better than everyone else and don’t (and hide it with an alt). And if you don’t, it’s probably because nobody wants you, or your overcompensating, broken down RL ego who only gets to be pretty in a video game.
Honestly, get over yourselves. And while you’re at it, and way up there on your high, high horses, learn how to spell and punctuate. If you’re going to be better than all the rest of us, a good starting place might be to at least look like it.

Like someone mentioned before, when everyone in SL throws you to the curb because you are a lying backstabbing whore, the seedy sex industry will take you in. You belong there, Amelia!
