[UPDATED: Ayumi's Jiggletastic video added after the jump]
Open source advocates are pointing to the newest feature of the Emerald Life viewer as proof positive that open source software makes life better for everyone.
The latest version of the Emerald viewer includes the ability for female avatars to jiggle gently – along with what we understand is an interesting built-in animation override that does away with the default Linden chicken walk.
While this might not be exactly what M Linden has in mind for his Immersive Workspaces vision of Second Life, the rank and file players seem more than willing to make the move – as Toxic Menges demonstrates.

I looked very closely but could see only a small amount of jiggle. Perhaps there is a slider that can be adjusted from “firm” to “floppy”?

Also, I posted the following in an earlier thread http://foo.secondlifeherald.com/slh/2009/10/metaverse-glitterati-swarm-post-6-party.html but I think that thread is pretty much dead now. So because this is such an important issue, then I’m posting it in this thread as well:
I don’t like these new icons that are attached to each comment. Aren’t they supposed to be unique to each poster? Yet I get the same icon as someone called “I Agree” – but I don’t agree. What’s going on?

I love my jiggly boobs, finally the avatar doesn’t look like trapped in a corset anymore. And according to some guys this is the best feature added to the viewer since 2003 :p
Getting it right takes some trial and error especially as this little feature seems to have a life on its own and activates and deactivates itself a few times at the beginning. But then… it’s nice!

I looked very closely, but cant see anything jiggle at all. Maybe its because of the HORRIBLE video framerate and quality. LERN 2 VIDJOE

Heaven help us if Miss Petunia Whats-er-name gets a hold of this! Her rack is so huge it’ll cause another great San Francisco earthquake and Linden’s offices will be the epicenter! Hmm, now gee… If only they could make a man’s package jump and jiggle like this… Now that’d be a real innovation!

Sigh. Guess I’ll have to wait for flexible sculpted prims. (There is experimental code for that; a version of Imprudence enabled it.)

I do not know whether I should blush or slap you, sir. Perhaps a swift kick in your “package” would suffice.
Still, if my “rack” were to cause such a seismic event, it would be a blessing for humanity that the Linden purveyors of smut in that city of sin were to sink into San Francisco Bay’s frigid waters.
And NO, no matter how much my queenly form may stir your loins, I shall not join the parade of misguided harlots as a “Post Sex Girl.” The demand to see me in my bloomers or even nude has, however, been great.
Fie, fie! Ladies, save the vision of paradise for your intended husbands and no others!

I’d rather be able to collaborate with business partners using text editors, spreadsheets, and web pages on prims, but I can appreciate the value of bouncing boobies. I gave the newest Emerald viewer a whirl specifically for this titillating feature and found it quirky and unrealistic. Real boobs, those yummy mounds of feminine or excessively overweight masculine flesh, do more than bounce up and down. They sway, they jiggle, they demonstrate one of the most fundamental features of physical reality — inertia — with delightful grace. But this first effort of the Emerald team replaces the plastic mannequin rigidity of old with … boobies on hinges. Go into the Appearance Editor and give the breast buoyancy slider a little twiddle. Go on. See them go up and down? Up and down? Up and– alright, knock it off, ya pervert. The point I’m making is that’s all this is.
Seriously, stop playing with buoyancy now.
Anyway, I appreciate the effort as the first stab that it is, but what we really need if we’re serious about this, is rigged boobies with attachment points on the nipples. Prudishly pretending people prefer pre-pubescent profiles protected by prohibited prurience … only frustrates matters. Rigged boobies will give animators an excuse to reinvent their inventories with fresh material, and arouse the SL economy. Even the RL market in hand lotion will likely see an increase.
Now that I’ve gotten that off my chest, I’d like to point out that I stepped back from the .950 release to the .904 version because — by a queer turn of SL physics — bouncing boobies isn’t compatible with sound in Linux clients.
