Is One Song Making a Comeback in Second Life?

by Defne Demar on 26/05/10 at 11:54 am

Has One Song, the leader of the notorious Associates gang and infamous architect of the Second Jessie War, returned to Second Life? In a surprising development, five years after the Second Jessie War, Karl Fredericks found a mysterious Associates gang calling card owned by OneSong Solo at the Reichstag in Jessie sim.

The Second Jessie War, which went down as one of the prominent chapters in SL history, broke out in August 2004 when Tank Levy started buying land in Stanford, a sim located between the Jessie combat sim and the Federal sim, to open a giant mega-mall in SL. As there were already residents in the sim, some more reluctant than others to sell their land to Levy, he sought the help of One Song and the Associates who, in turn, resorted to bullying and harassment tactics to push people out.

This strategy worked for most except for a group of residents who had migrated from the World War II Online game (the WWIIOL’ers) and had taken Jessie as their new home. Not surprisingly, One Song’s erotic dance club/cyberbrothel and the influx of newbies in the sim did not amuse them one bit. What ensued within the next several days was, as Urizenus Sklar had noted in his coverage of the Second Jessie War  “a genuine clash of real world values fought out on a virtual battlefield by virtual tools, and, perhaps, even a glimpse into our own future.”

This past may have come back to haunt all of us. Last week, the Alphaville Herald was notified by one of the few WWIIOL’ers left from the glory days, Karl Fredericks, that OneSong Solo left his group’s logo on top of their reichstag. After a brief “wtf” moment, Karl Fredericks’ only response was “seriously? Have you had nothing better to do for the last five years?” Fredericks adds that if this is for real, One Song is going to be very disappointed because there are only but four or five WWIIOL’ers left in Jessie.

While no one is sure what the old gangster’s plans may be, it may be a safe bet that he is returning to cause more mishief. His profile confims this suspicion: “I am not here to impress you with how I look, I just want all your money, and your land. I call to arms all the Old brothers of the Real Jessie!”

Karl Fredericks is doubtful that One Song will have any success because if he tries to take over Jessie, the new residents of the sim will not take it sitting down. Still there is something enticing even about the prospect of his return. Karl Fredericks reminisces about those glory days and admits that “the ToS was written because of the shit [they] did.” For him, there’s no point in being in SL if there’s no ravaging combat and that he’d “really like to start some shit up here again but [they] don’t have the manpower.” Not to mention that, clearly, the grid has come a long way since the beta days.

Long-time residents are not even sure that he would be able to buy land in the mainland because he burnt so many bridges. Likely he will remain an “army of one” as his profile claims to be. Could OneSong prove to be a worthy opponent yet again? Or are the days of the good-ol’-fashion war over? Recent news in the Herald’s signals that after the open-sourcing of SL, the real war now has moved onto Second Life viewers – a much more complex world than OneSong knew.

As we go to press there has been no response when the Alphaville Herald contacted OneSong Solo, or the person who claims to be him.

That’s because nobody wants to talk to the Herald anymore.

    Case closed.

OneSong never left, he created an alt and started the JLU (Kalel Venkman was his name), Now hes been outed he returns to his true calling.

    I joke of course.

But although there is no love between us, OneSong could pick up a massive following from the recently booted groups. I would of course have to watch for sport. Its like the end of the world if you drop some particles on a welcome area. Maybes some real griefing is what they all need. All these1/2 year SL veterans haven’t be exposed to real fun.

Even just a day of hitting them up.

& It’s Unfixable: if the case is close then gtfo.

Everybody would like to think that self-styled griefer kings have massive followings, and if you actually believe what you read in the Herald ( a fool’s errand at best) you might believe they would. Mostly they just get their asses kicked and leave (or, more rare, grow up and leave – for an example of somebody who left without growing up, see IntLibber Brautigan. For an example of somebody who stayed without growing up, see Kalel Venkman.)

And the Herald itself, tying their fortunes to the Woodheads, only to stand there with their mouths open and their puds in their hands as they got megabanned and flushed everybody’s carefully crafted fake reputations down the toilet in a single night, with Pixeleen taking the hit with them.

The Herald covers more than WU related issues. There’s Post 6, Pappy, Clients, Big SL Meetings, and sometimes other metaverse programs totally unrelated to SL.

Also; if you think SL was the only thing WU had going for it, you’re sadly mistaken.

Also; If you plan on trolling it’s really best not to let people know you’re trolling.

@Kiddoh – yes, SL was the only thing WU had going for it, as it was founded as a raiding group (the PN were cofounders, so there you are). Most of the rest of WU who weren’t into raiding don’t have the chops to do anything else, maybe a tiny handful of whatever’s left.

Also, you’re responding very well to being trolled even when I tell you point blank you are, so blow off.

Also, the Herald just makes up whatever bullshit other than the WU coverage, which turned out to be complete bullshit too.

    Also, cocks.

  9. This just in...

    May 26th, 2010

the PN couldn’t found themselves let alone WU. obvious troll is an obvious troll. and wtf anyway, why must everything always be about WU even when the articles aren’t? if you even knew a handful of them you would see that you don’t know what you are talking about. the sure as fuck show more intelligence and insight than you do. you’re clearly a hipster with that also, cocks shit. in fact, i changed my mind, you aren’t even a troll…you are a wannabe troll and hipster. and that my good friend, is so sad.

This made me laugh IRL. In before you shit bricks.

What is this even supposed to mean? Are you mad because I’m not raging and “baaawing” like how you want me to? Sorry, but that’s what happens when you tell everyone you’re trolling them, they stop taking you seriously and any credibility you once had is lost.

Yeah, well that makes one of you. That’s my point, really. The number of Woodbury with any constructive ability or talent can be counted upon the fingers of one hand (and those weren’t the ones that got banned for the most part.)

I’m pretty sure all the ones that have constructive ability or talent were the ones that got banned generally because that’s how you would obtain FIC status within WU– by contributing and demonstrating constructive abilities.

    May 26th, 2010

Bob was good at sculpts. Tizzers made decent prim builds. Meif had some radio integration stuff going. Robble made great cartoony builds. Katelyn was learning both scripting and building, and had never condoned or participated in any griefing until she was banned. Silent was a known content creator. Doc was also a decent creator, and scripted well to boot. Merato was good at building. The rest mainly socialized. Of the lot who were initially banned, if there were ongoing griefing, it was generally not made public within the group.

Anyway, WU is a non-entity now, so why continue on the topic?

Sorry, but nobody’s buying that line of shit. That’s utter shit. You got into the FIC by acting out in front of the pack and gaining FIC points, and the more outrageous it was, the more points you got, just like any other griefer group, the PN was the same way.

The thing Woodheaders were all best at was getting banned. Look how many of them succeeded at it!

so like when land is worth less than L$1 per square meter and people are already moving to inworldz to get away from the fag mafia queen running LL like it is his personal gay bar someone is going to try to buy land owners out? Doesn’t sound like it will take a greefer army and a pink neon penis bar for that.

I was a useless member really, I did nothing but hang out. I did take note of everyone there, and they are right. many FIC were creative individuals. I think I meantioned that in one long ranting post I made before. But the real thing I want to say is:

Were you in WU? Were you in PN? Hmmmmm? Or is this another troll yet not troll on your part?

  31. It's Unfixable

    May 27th, 2010

I was PN and drifted through WU on my way to sanity. But I’ll tell you this – now that I’ve seen things from both sides, WU had absolutely nothing going for it that every other group of any size at all doesn’t have. The reason any of these groups thrive at all is because they have talented people in them who can provide creative or technical resources to make them work.

Woodbury, however, had almost nobody of noteworthy talent. Tayste has chops. Silent Hush could script and paint both, and shouldn’t have been banned. Merato was a copybotter and got caught and banned not once, but twice now. Tizzy’s builds were technically adequate but that’s it.

“But I cud use Fotoshops” is pretty thin as a justification for all the rest of the crap. I’m not proud of what we did in the PN, but at least I woke the fuck up. You guys just sat on the bomb and rode it all the way down.

Oh, and Kiddoh? I got you raging for an entire pageful of comments on an article which has absolutely nothing to do with Woodbury.

And I even told you up front you were being trolled, and you still went for it.

@ Unfixable:. Quote, “I was PN and drifted through WU on my way to sanity.”

Please provide certified medical evidence to prove the latter part of your statement.

also… Unfixable:. Quote “Why continue on the topic? BECAUSE EVERY POST ON THIS STUPID RAG IS ABOUT YOU IDIOTS IN THE FIRST PLACE.

You were the first person to mention WU in this thread and then you scream every thread is about WU? Excuse me – do what you’ve just suggested to us – just go away.

PS – I dont remember you in PN unless you were one of those wannabees who turned into neverbees because they always were bl00dy-well-shouln’t-bees… I guess that’s why you failed at staying in WU too.

    So defending something = RAGE?

Show me this rage of mine if you please. I’m going to laugh if there’s not even a single swear in any of them.

Also you need to fix the definition of your law.

    It’s more accurate to put:

“If an article has nothing to do with Woodbury, It’s Unfixable will make it about Woodbury and then he will proceed to complain about how it’s suddenly about Woodbury a couple posts later- whether the article has suddenly become about Woodbury or not.”

Lessee, Unfixable claims to be former PN and a furry, so he’s possibly either Windowlic (Yaranaika) or JWAN, tho there were so many closeted furry’s and furry spais in the PN, using the group to grief other furry’s they had a bone to pick with, or to build public sympathy for furrys. He might also be Thomas, tho this idiot doesn’t sound like Thomas, or Jag Talaj… Then again, Angel was in the PN also… So was Carigorp.

Whoever it is, the amount to which he is incessantly posting here about one topic alone displays a degree of obsession and compulsion that belies his claims, not only about just ‘trolling’ but claims to sanity.
